Nikki, Rubina share lists of their ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ favourites

Actress Nikki Tamboli and Rubina Dilaik entered the ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ house as special guests and the two popular contestants of ‘Bigg Boss 14’ played some interesting games with the housemates.

Nikki appreciated Divya Agarwal and said: “Divya is playing an over-the top game in the house despite the fact that she has no connection for the past two weeks and she is shining bright. Though this is a game of connection and she has no connection still she is answering upfront and I think she is really brave.”

While talking about the connections, she said: “Millind Gaba and Akshara Singh are the weakest connection. Since the connection of Akshara and Pratik is broken she is just demotivating others and seems like doing nothing. Millind also doesn’t seem like playing the game and being emotional. And according to me Nishant Bhat and Moose Jattana are the sweetest and strongest connections.”

She added about her perspective towards different contestants and described them in one word saying: “Shamita Shetty is motivator, Raqesh is chivalrous, Nishant is crude, I am a big fan of Moose and I just love Pratik. Neha is impulsive, Divya is strong, Akshara is lost and Millind is innocent.”

While on the other side, Rubina said she would like to pair up with Raqesh as her connection if given the chance.

That’s not it, there were also the protagonists, Ronit Roy and Richa Chadha of the thrilling drama series ‘Candy’ who played an interesting and engaging game with contestants asking them which ‘Candy’ suits each housemate. Divya names Shamita as the dominating ‘Candy’, with ‘Greedy Candy’ being Divya, to name a few.

TN Hindu Munnani to go on hunger strike against ban on Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations

The Hindu Munnani will conduct a hunger protest on Monday at Valluvar Kottam against the DMK government’s ban on installing idols at the roadside during the Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations.

The BJP and the Hindu Munnani are up in arms after the DMK government announced that idols would not be permitted to be installed at roadsides and that immersion of these idols in water bodies was not allowed. The government in its order on August 30 said that this was to adhere to the Covid standard protocol and prevent the spread of the pandemic.

This has not gone down well with the Hindu outfits, and the BJP Tamil Nadu state president, K. Annamalai questioned the wisdom of the government banning Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations while allowing TASMAC liquor shops to function unabated.

The Hindu Munnani has announced that it would install one lakh idols at the residences and celebrate the Vinayaka Chaturthi festival. The Government has said that the festival has to be confined to the residences of the people. The organisation has also called upon the people to worship at Vinayakar temples and pray for good sense for the Tamil Nadu government to allow Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations.

BJP state president K. Annamalai has also said that the party would conduct protests across the state against the DMK government’s decision to ban installing idols at waysides.

Hindu Munnani Tamil Nadu state president Kadeswara C. Subramaniam has said that the organisation would go ahead with the Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations on September 10. He also demanded that the DMK government conduct talks with the Hindu Munnani leaders immediately.

While speaking to IANS, Kadeswara. C .Subramaniam said, “The DMK government of Tamil Nadu is showing its true colours and is against the Hindu interests. The Hindu Munnani is conducting a hunger protest against the draconian policies unleashed by the DMK government against Hindu festivals and we will strongly oppose this across Tamil Nadu.”

The BJP has also raised the issue in the Tamil Nadu Assembly with party legislator M.R. Gandhi calling upon the government to permit Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations across the state.

However, state Minister of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department P.K. Sekar Babu in his reply said that the state government was only taking action on the basis of a circular issued by Union Home secretary Ajay Bhalla directing all states to take suitable measures to prevent crowd control and to avoid the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

DMK propaganda secretary, T. Sabapathy Mohan told in interview, “The BJP and Hindu Munnani are trying to politicise the issue. The government’s ban is only for the welfare of the people and to prevent the Covid pandemic spread and nothing else. People know the real issues and politically charged issues and they will see through the plans of these organisations.”

Penelope Cruz tackles stress with meditation

Oscar winning actress Penelope Cruz uses transcendental meditation to minimise stress and face life struggles.

The Spanish star first experimented with meditation when she was a teenager but she started taking it seriously to decompress from her film sets and to ease any worries she may have, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Cruz said: “I practiced meditation as a teenager, I stopped for a while, then I took the transcendental meditation courses and I chose to dedicate myself to it.”

The actress, who has two children — son Leo and daughter Luna, with actor husband Javier Bardem, is always busy with her career and family and wants to devote herself as much as she can to her children.

Her mother Encarna keeps telling her to take more time out for herself, despite never taking that advice herself when Encarna was raising the ‘Nine’ star and her siblings.

Speaking to Italian publication IO Donna, Cruz said: “I have a trait that I inherited from my mother, who was equally demanding with herself: she was very busy and yet — very generous — she managed to give everything to her three children. Now she says to me: you have to relax, you have to rest, you have to find time for yourself”.

Cruz will have spent 30 years working as an actress and she has to pinch herself each day that her childhood dream came true.

She said: “Acting was my dream since I was — maybe — two years old. A dream that does not bore: with each role you start from scratch. So I think: thank you!”

The ‘Bheemla Nayak’ title song was launched on September 2 to coincide with Pawan Kalyan’s 50th birthday. The action thriller film is the official Telugu remake of the Malayalam hit, ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’.

On Saturday, the actor and mass leader had said financial assistance would be given through the Pawan Kalyan Learning Centre for Human Excellence to the folk singer-performer who has taken the Telugu cinema music scene by storm with the raw brilliance of his voice and the hypnotic strains of the ‘kinnera’ in the title track.

A Jana Sena Party media release said Pawan Kalyan was keen to introduce various traditional arts, especially the folk art forms that are on the verge of extinction, to young people.

The ‘kinnera’ is a stringed instrument that is played by nomadic tribes such as the Dakkali and the Chenchu to accompany the singing of rustic Telugu ballads.

Hailing from the Amrabad reserve forest area in Mahbubnagar district, Mogulaiah is adept at performing on the ‘kinnera’, which he plays as he narrates folk stories in song-form.

Neha Sharma: Harassment at workplace should never be normalised

Actress Neha Sharma who appeared in a short film titled ‘Vikalp’ that addresses the issue of physical and mental harassment at the workplace, says any form of harassment at the workplace should never be normalised with certain conditioning where the ‘need for job’ is put first before ‘human dignity’.

Sharing her opinion on the matter, Neha told in an interview: “I think harassment, be it physical or mental is a very common situation that most of the people in our society faced and in the majority of the section cannot even raise their voice because they have to keep their job, need to earn money to survive. In the film ‘Vikalp’ also at one point, it is mentioned how bullying and harassment based on power dynamics at the workplace, has been normalised. Often we get to hear things like ‘at least this person is not brutally abusive like the earlier boss’, ‘this office is comparatively less toxic’ etc. But abuse and toxicity cannot be normalised and that is something we tried to address in the film. The dignity of a human being cannot be compromised due to the need of earning money or sustaining a job.”

The story of ‘Vikalp’ is set in a corporate office and it is the journey of the character named Shivani, a small-town girl and how she deals with harassment.

The film is directed by Dheeraj Jindal and also features Anshul Chauhan. The film is released on the digital platform Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films.

In recent times Neha has been seen in the film ‘Tanhaji’, music video ‘Thoda Thoda Pyaar’ and Voot web series ‘Illegal’. She was quite occupied in shooting the new season of ‘Illegal’ and upcoming Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer.

Why did she work in a short film? “I think while feature films and web series have its own power of storytelling, when it comes to addressing an important issue, at times, the short format makes a greater impact! It is more powerful. I myself watch short films because it is less time-consuming with higher impact and conversation starter. When the director of ‘Vikalp’, Dheeraj came to me with the story I just realised how important it is for us to talk about a regularly faced issue like harassment at the workplace that is taking a toll on our mental health. During the lockdown, the matter has got more prominence and that is why I feel it is quite relevant,” Neha signed off.
