Wamiqa Gabbi: To be cast with successful actors in ‘Mai’ very flattering

Actress Wamiqa Gabbi says she is flattered to be cast alongside experienced, successful actors in an upcoming thriller series “Mai”.

“Mai” is an upcoming Indian drama web-series co-starring Sakshi Tanwar, Raima Sen, Vivek Mushran, Prashant Narayanan, and Seema Pahwa.

Wamiqa said: “‘Mai’ is a wonderful project and to be cast along with such experienced, successful actors is very flattering for me. The script of the series is absolutely great and I can’t wait to go on set to share screen space with this incredible cast whom I’m sure there’ll be a lot for me to learn from.”

The plot of the series moves around the murder of a prisoner. Upon accidentally killing a mafia leader, a middle-aged woman is unwittingly swept into the underworld, where her cult slowly gains renown. As things take a new turn, she has to fight for survival while preparing herself to enter the underworld to stay secure.

Directed by Atul Mongia and Anshai Lal, Mai is written by Atul Mongia, Amita Vyas along with Tamal Kumar Sen.

The series is produced by Anushka Sharma and her brother Karnesh Sharma.

Shilpa Shetty’s son Viaan’s workout video inspires Shamita Shetty

Shamita Shetty took to Instagram on Monday morning and shared a motivational video of her nephew Viaan.

In the video shared by Shamita Shetty, her sister Shilpa Shetty’s son Viaan is seen doing his intense workout session with back flips, kickboxing and treadmill run.

In the inspirational video of nine-year-old Viaan flashes his four-pack abs.

Viaan made his debut on television on “Super Dancer 3” where his mother Shilpa Shetty is one of the judges. He left the audience stunned with his fitness level.

The little kid is a powerhouse of talent and is a self-confessed Tiger Shroff fan.

Viaan is Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s son.

Bhumi Pednekar’s quick makeover

Actress Bhumi Pednekar treated her fans with a quick makeover on social media.

Bhumi posted a video on Instagram. The clip see the actress applying foundation, contouring, and doing her lips and hair.

“Let’s start the week with some fun on #Reels #Bbeauty #monday,” Bhumi wrote as caption.

On the professional front, the actress recently announced she would star alongside Akshay Kumar in the upcoming film, “Raksha Bandhan”. The film is directed by Aanand L. Rai.

She also has “Badhaai Do” with Rajkummar Rao and “Mr Lele” with Vicky Kaushal lined up.

Akhil Akkineni starts shooting for ‘Agent’

Telugu actor Akhil Akkineni kickstarted the shoot of his upcoming spy-thriller film “Agent” here on Monday.

The actor, who has built a ripped body for this role, also posted the poster of the film on his Instagram.

He captioned the poster as: “365 days back, I was challenged by
#SurenderReddy to transform myself mentally and physically. Sir, the fire you have ignited in me will burn furiously through out this film. I promise you that.”

“Agent” is Akhil’s first collaboration with director Surendar Reddy. Newcomer Sakshi Vaidya has been roped in to play the leading lady in the film.

The film is written by Vakkantham Vamsi and produced by Ramabrahmam Sunkara under AK Entertainments and Surender 2 Cinema.

Ravi Teja unveils his first look in ‘Ramarao On Duty’

Telugu star Ravi Teja on Monday released his first look in the upcoming film “Ramarao On Duty”.

Earlier two pre-looks were released from the film, which is Ravi’s 68th film. However, this is the first time that Ravi’s character has been shown.

Ravi took to Instagram to reveal his look and captioned it as: “Here’s the first look. #ramaraoonduty.”

The film is directed by Sarath Mandava and the shoot has commenced in Hyderabad. Ravi has started shooting with actress Divyansha Koushik.

Produced by Sudhakar Cherukuti, the film’s music is by Sam CS, while Sathyan Sooryan ISC cranks the camera.

The film also features Nasser, Sr Naresh, Pavitra Lokesh, Rahul Rama Krishna, Eerojullo Sree, Madhu Sudan Rao, Surekha Vani.

Suriya’s ‘Soorarai Pottru’ to be remade in Hindi

Tamil star Suriya’s 2020 hit “Soorarai Pottru” will be remade in Hindi and will be directed by Sudha Kongara, who helmed the Tamil original.

“Soorarai Pottru” is the story of Nedumaaran Rajangam or Maara, played by Suriya, who sets out to make the common man fly and in the process takes on the world’s most capital intensive industry with the help of his family, friends and sheer will power.

The film was partly inspired by events from the life of Air Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath.

Suriya says: “The love and appreciation that was showered on ‘Soorarai Pottru’ was unprecedented! From the minute I first heard this story I felt this has to be a pan India film, because the soul of it was such. It gives me immense pleasure to partner with Abundantia Entertainment, who have al made quality content, to tell the inspiring story of Captain Gopinath in Hindi.”

Adding to this, Captain GR Gopinath, founder of Air Deccan, says: “I have been overwhelmed with the response to ‘Soorarai Pottru’ and now eagerly look forward to the film’s Hindi adaptation.”

The Tamil film was among the ten Indian films to be screened in the Best Foreign Film category at the 78th Golden Globe Awards and was also sent for the 93rd Academy Awards.

While the Hindi film’s cast has not been decided yet, the remake will be backed by Suriya’s and Vikram Malhotra.

Sudha, who is currently working with a set of writers in scripting the Hindi adaptation says: “I was instantly drawn to the story of ‘Soorarai Pottru’, the story of Captain Gopinath, an adventurous maverick and an inspiring entrepreneur who epitomised the New India of the nineties. I’m grateful for all the love we have received so far and look forward to telling this uni que and amazing story in Hindi. I hope this official Hindi remake also gets the same love as the original”.

Mrunal Thakur says ‘Toofaan’ role made her strong, confident

Actress Mrunal Thakur is overjoyed to work with the National Award-winning filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra in the upcoming boxing drama “Toofaan”, starring Farhan Akhtar. She says playing Ananya in the film has made her strong and confident.

Having a conversation about working with Mehra, whose “Rang De Basanti” earned him a National Film Award as well as a BAFTA nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, and who also made “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” among other films, Mrunal is overwhelmed.

“I think this is one of the most Toofani moments I am having. It’s my fourth film and I got a chance to work with Rakeysh sir,” Mrunal told an interview.

“I think all the other actresses are going to be jealous and I feel lucky,” the actress quipped, adding the film was an “overwhelming process”.

She added: “I have learned a lot. Ananya (her character) has made Mrunal so strong and confident, and as a human also I feel I am that catalyst when it comes to my family.”

“Toofaan” is the story of a boxer played by Farhan Akhtar, who pushes his limits and works hard to win. The film is slated to release on Amazon Prime Video on July 16.

Mumbai building where actor Suniel Shetty lives sealed

The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sealed several floors of a posh building in south Mumbai where Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty lives with his family due to rising Covid-19 cases reported from there, civic officials said here on Monday.

The 30-storied building with 120 flats is Prithvi Apartments, on Altamount Road, where many new Covid-19 cases have been detected in the past few days, where some of the affected floors have been sealed.

As per BMC’s Covid-19 protocols, if there are more than five active cases in any particular building, it is eligible for sealing to prevent further spread of the contagion.

However, the fitness-buff Shetty and his family are currently out of town and are not affected by the BMC D Ward action.

Nevertheless, he took to social media and commented: “Locked in or locked out Bolo Bolo tell tell.”

Along with Prithvi Apartments, the civic body has affixed the seal on at least 9 other posh buildings in the south Mumbai’s affluent Malabar Hill and surroundings for growing number of Covid-19 cases.

According to the BMC, in the second wave, a majority of the cases have been reported from residential buildings or skyscrapers as compared with the crowded slum areas.

Shooting of Naga Shaurya’s “Lakshya” climax begins

The team of actor Naga Shaurya’s upcoming Telugu sports film “Lakshya” started shooting a crucial climax scene here on Saturday. The actor took to Instagram to share a video from the sets.

“Lakshya” is said to be India’s first film based on the sport of ancient archery.

“It all started two years back and today we have come to Denouement. The journey has been incredible one,” Shaurya captioned his post.

According to sources close to the production, a crucial climax sequence is currently being shot in Hyderabad. Alongside Naga Shaurya, Jagapathi Babu and few other actors are participating in the shoot.

Directed by Dheerendra Santhossh Jagarlapudi, “Lakshya” is Shaurya’s 20th film and also stars actress Ketki Sharma. Ace actor Jagapathi Babu will be seen playing a crucial role in the film.

Presented by Sonali Narang, the film is produced by Narayana Das K. Narang, Puskur Ram Mohan Rao and Sharrath Marar.

‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ turns 6: Cast celebrates milestone hit

The team of “Baahubali” took to social media on Saturday to celebrate the blockbuster franchise, as the first film of the series, “Baahubali: The Beginning”, completed six years of release. Lead actors Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia posted on Instagram to mark the occasion.

Prabhas, who played dual roles as the protagonists in the two parts, posted a still of the multi lingual film that broke several records.

Along with the image on Instagram Stories, he wrote: “6 years of Baahubali”.

Rana Daggubati, who played the antagonist Bhallaldeva, also posted an image of his character on Instagram Stories and wrote the same caption.

Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia reposted Prabhas’s post.

“Baahubali” released in two parts. The first, “Baahubali: The Beginning” released in 2015 on July 10 and its sequel “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” released on April 28, 2017.
