Akshay, Ajay, KJo, Suniel Shetty react on farmers’ protest

Bollywood celebrities Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Karan Johar, and Suniel Shetty on Wednesday came out and spoken about the ongoing protest by farmers. The actors have urged people not to fall for false propaganda against India.

Their tweets come after international personalities such as Rihanna, Mia Khalifa, and Greta Thunberg tweeted in favor of the farmers’ protest in the country.

Indian celebrities have reacted to a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) about the issue, and celebrities commenting about the issue.

Superstar Akshay Kumar took to Twitter and shared the statement by MEA. He then wrote that efforts are being taken to resolve the issue.

“Farmers constitute an extremely important part of our country. And the efforts being undertaken to resolve their issues are evident. Let’s support an amicable resolution, rather than paying attention to anyone creating differences. #IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda,” Akshay wrote.

Actor Ajay Devgn urged everyone to not fall for false propaganda.

“Don’t fall for any false propaganda against India or Indian policies. It’s important to stand united at this hour w/o any infighting #IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda,” he tweeted.

Filmmaker Karan Johar called the farmers the backbone of India.

“We live in turbulent times and the need of the hour is prudence and patience at every turn. Let us together make every effort we can to find solutions that work for everyone—our farmers are the backbone of India. Let us not let anyone divide us. #IndiaTogether,” Johar wrote.

Actor Suniel Shetty said that nothing is more dangerous than a half-truth.

“We must always take a comprehensive view of things, as there is nothing more dangerous than a half-truth. #IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda @hiteshjain33,” he wrote.

Parineeti Chopra: ‘The Girl On The Train’ let me challenge myself

Actress Parineeti Chopra says as an actor she is always looking for ways to challenge herself, and her role in the upcoming psychological suspense drama, The Girl On The Train, gave her an opportunity to do so.

“‘The Girl On The Train’ was an entirely different experience for me as I have never played this kind of role before. Getting into the character of Meera Kapoor and working closely with (director) Ribhu (Dasgupta) to bring her to life was an immense learning experience for me,” Parineeti said.

“As an actor, I have always wanted to challenge myself with more, and this role gave me the opportunity to do so. ‘The Girl On The Train’ will take the audiences on a dark journey trying to piece together the reality of who actually committed the crime and have them guessing the truth,” she added.

The film is an official Hindi remake of the Hollywood thriller The Girl On The Train, which is based on Paula Hawkins’ 2015 bestseller of the same name. The Hollywood version by Tate Taylor featured Emily Blunt in the lead role.

The Hindi remake follows the story of Meera (Parineeti), who fixates on the perfect lives of a couple she watches from afar during her daily train commutes. One day, she witnesses something out of the ordinary that shocks her. The film also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Kirti Kulhari, and Avinash Tiwari.

Talking about the film, director Dasgupta said: “The book enticed me tremendously, and I am excited to have the opportunity to bring this version of the story to screens around the world. This film has been a real ride of emotion and passion for me. I am happy that the trailer will drop on Netflix and everyone will see a glimpse of the world we have created.”

The film was due to release theatrically in May 2020 but got pushed due to the Covid pandemic. It will now premiere on Netflix on February 26.

Bigg Boss 14: Rakhi Sawant tags Abhinav Shukla ‘tharki’

Bigg Boss 14 has hit a new low courtesy controversy, queen Rakhi Sawant. In the name of entertainment, and continuing with her harassment of housemate Abhinav Shukla, Rakhi has now called him “tharki” (pervert).

In the promo for an upcoming episode of the show, Rakhi, who has previously confessed “crazy love” for Abhinav, is heard using the adjective for the TV actor.

It all started when Rakhi starts taunting Abhinav while speaking to housemate Devoleena Bhattacharjee. Rakhi asks Abhinav if his wife and season 14 housemate Rubina Dilaik has asked him not to talk to her.

When he ignores her, Rakhi calls him  “tharki”.

An angry Abhinav shouts at Rakhi and says:  “Yeh hi Teri Zindagi hai Rakhi (This is your filthy side).”

Rubina overhears the exchange and in a fit of rage throws a bucket full of water on Rakhi. Rubina ends up calling Rakhi a ‘badtameez aurat (misbehaved woman).

This is not the first time Rakhi has crossed lines with Abhinav. She previously pulled the strings of his pants. She also had “I love Abhinav” written all over her body in red.

However, the show’s host and Bollywood superstar Salman Khan believes Abhinav is “benefitting” from Rakhi’s bizarre antics.

Kangana calls activist Greta Thunberg ‘spoilt brat’ for backing farmers’ protest

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday called Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg dumb and a spoilt brat for tweeting in favor of the farmers’ protest in India.

“We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India,” Greta tweeted early on Wednesday, according to India time.

Greta’s tweet came in reaction to a news piece on the CNN website that reads: “India cuts internet around New Delhi as protesting farmers clash with police.”

Replying to Greta’s tweet, Kangana wrote on Twitter: “No fancy activists will talk about genuine environmentalist our own grandma… but they will definitely promote dumb and a spoilt brat ?@GretaThunberg? who is being used by the entire left lobby and in return she gets to skip her education and school.”

By “grandma”, Kangana refers to the 105-year-old R Pappammal, an organic farmer from Coimbatore, who was honored with the Padma Shri for agriculture this year.

Earlier, according to an IANS report on Tuesday, the CNN news piece had prompted international pop sensation Rihanna to write: “Why aren’t we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest.”

Kangana had immediately retorted by calling Rihanna a fool and a dummy.

Shreya Ghoshal teams with composer brother Soumyadeep for new single

Singer Shreya Ghoshal has released a single titled Angana money, for which she has joined hands with her brother, musician Soumyadeep Ghoshal.

Talking about working with her brother, Shreya said: “Working on a song with Soumyadeep proved to be a lot of fun. We’ve experienced every single moment together in the process and the best part is the understanding that we have between us.”

“Amidst the work hassle, we made sure to have a hearty laugh and a chat to ease up. Needless to say, working in the pandemic proved to be a challenge initially, but we’ve all got used to it and are availing the benefits of the digital world,” she added.

” ‘Angana morey’ brought me closer to my roots and that was a riding factor for its creation,” shared the singer.

The song is a virtually created and classically rooted electro-pop ode to lost love, an energetic electro bandish track.

“The song creation process was a lot of fun because I had a fabulous team of musicians jamming and exploring new ideas constantly. And then the video creation was another awesome experience,” Shreya said.

She said she “wasn’t comfortable going to any studio” for a shoot “because of the Covid-19 scare”, so the shooting facility was brought home for her, and added that the post-production touches by “added that surreal and magical factor to the video that just blew us all away”.

“The 3D rendering and graphics which were woven around me just elevated the entire visual experience to another level,” said the singer.

For Shreya, the pandemic experience was a blessing in disguise.

“The pandemic and the entire 2020 were obviously very depressing for all of us in many ways. But in a way,  there were some blessings in disguise. Honestly, I had not had a break like this in years and I once again began to focus on my ‘riyaz’ routine,” she said, adding: “I became a more mindful listener and started learning with a more meditative and creative bent of mind,” she said.

“While finding small joys in the confines of my home, I started doing gardening, cooking, cleaning and working on some pending film projects from my home studio. During this phase, my heart was craving to create a song that resonated with my semi-classical musical roots and that is how the idea of, ‘Angana money’ was born,” she added.

The singer released the song on the channel MTV Beats. Shreya is MTV Beats Artist of the Month for February.

Bigg Boss 14: Is Salman Khan irritated with the current housemates?

There was a time when watching Bollywood superstar Salman Khan as host during the weekend episodes of Bigg Boss was fun. He would, by turns, be in the mood for jokes and in the mood to tease the housemates. He would come down with admonition, too, once in a while, but things never turned dour, to the point of being off-putting.

On the ongoing season 14 of the show, Salman has mostly been angry and irritated, clearly unhappy with the way things are going on. In a season that should rank among the most boring in the brief history of Bigg Boss, Salman perhaps cannot be blamed.

There’s more. Over the past few years, faced with the bad box office for films like Tubelight (2017), Race 3 (2018), and Bharat (2019), Salman would invariably fall back on his immense popularity as the host of Bigg Boss to maintain a connection with fans, who won’t settle for anything less than rockstar form from their favorite star.

In Season 14, however, that has hardly happened. A house full of contestants is lost for a plot for controversies and the show is going nowhere despite star contestants of past seasons being randomly planted as toofani seniors and challengers. In a year when he had no release owing to pandemic-induced closure of cinema halls, Salman probably realizes the no-show season 14 is no fall-back option to regale his fans.

In the recent Weekend Ka Vaar episode, Salman’s irritation was clearly showing, as he went about explaining to contestant Abhinav Shukla that Rakhi Sawant’s grotesque acts such as pulling his pant strings are “benefitting” him.

When Abhinav tries to clear his stance, Salman is heard saying: “Let me finish Abhinav. You don’t need to over-react to things this way.”

If you are a seasoned fan of the show, you could sense Salman was trying to generate some drama out of nothing by reacting to Abhinav that way. Clearly, it would seem like he is not happy with the current season’s housemates.

Salman has often been seen pulling up Abhinav’s wife and actress Rubina Dilaik, too. The superstar also reprimanded contestant Nikki Tamboli for the uncouth behavior she has been showing for no reason, towards other housemates.

An interesting aspect of Salman’s behavior this season is his overt supoort for Rakhi. He seems to overlook the mistakes she makes in the name of “entertainment”. Challengers Vikas Gupta and Arshi Khan have also never faced his ire.

For instance, despite the fact that Vikas had pushed Arshi into the pool, he was brought back into the show. This, despite the fact that physical altercations are not allowed in the Bigg Boss house. However, original season 14 housemates Rahul Vaidya and Abhinav Shukla have faced Salman’s wrath for much less.

Salman seems to realize the survival of the season could depend on the older challengers rather than the core original housemates of the season.

Social media, too, has noted Salman’s biased behavior that seems to be born out of his irritation towards the current season’s original contestants.

A user wrote: “@BeingSalmanKhan be original. #aligoni and #RahulVaidya should be scolded for their actions and reactions given in the previous two weeks. Please #RakhiSawant ka entertainment, entertainment, and #NikkiTomboli ka batemeezi. Stop being biased. The way Abhinav joined his hands multiple times, tears rolled down his face, expressed that it’s his lowest phase, gave time to Rahul and rakhi to mock him during the task.”

“I HATE IT. ABSOLUTELY HATE IT. #AbhinavShukla,” said another.

A user said: “Let’s see what does #, Salman Khan when he will be accused of harassment.”

A regular watcher called it the worst of Bigg Boss history: “yes you are absolutely right this is the worst of big boss history. how could #salman khan bashed Rubina Abhinav throughout the whole http://episod.it seems that there was only Rubi and Abhinav in all the tasks.”

Salman Khan’s pique is showing. But does the channel have ample time to salvage the show this year?

Angelina Jolie is focussed on ‘healing her family’

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie says she is currently focused on healing herself and her family since the last few years have been tough on all of them.

Angelina parted ways with ex-husband Brad Pitt in 2016 but never spoke openly about what led to the fallout. The two have six children together — Maddox, 19, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 14, and 12-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

During an interaction with British Vogue, when asked if she feels that she is in a happy stage of life, Angelina replied: “I don’t know,” adding: “I’ve been focusing on healing our family. It’s slowly coming back, like the ice melting and the blood returning to my body.”

The actress reveals how her children have beautifully grown up and taken care of her instead of her being the charge.

“Though we were on the trampoline the other day, and the children said, ‘No, Mom, don’t do that. You’ll hurt yourself. And I thought, ‘God, isn’t that funny?’ There was a day I was an action star, and now the kids are telling me to get off the trampoline because I’ll hurt myself!” said Angelina.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt got married in 2014 and divorced in 2019.
