Bigg Boss 14: Telly bahus Rubina and Jasmin turn reality vamps

Actors Rubina Dilaik and Jasmin Bhasin are undoubtedly among the biggest bahus in the Indian small screen scene, but ever since they entered the Bigg Boss 14 house, they have been cutting a portrait of the classic vamp.

With over 100 cameras spread across the house to maintain 24 hours vigilance on the housemates, Rubina and Jasmine’s reality television gameplan has been very different from the scripted reality that fiction television lets them play out as telly bahus.

The ploy has allowed both Rubina and Jasmin to fend against the more played-to-gallery tactics of challengers such as Rakhi Sawant, Arshi Khan, Kashmira Shah, Vikas Gupta, and Manu Punjabi, who have subsequently walked into the show.

Crowned as the “crybaby” of Bigg Boss 14, Jasmine’s attitude has only gone from bad to worse in the recent episodes, esepcially when she targets Rakhi.

Jasmin, who garnered a sizeable fan base during her starring stint on the show Naagin, made plenty of grotesque comments on Rakhi’s body, face, implants, and hygiene.

Notable among these was Jasmin’s quip on Rakhi’s nose implant: “Naak gir jaayegi (Your nose will fall apart).”

She was made a few comments on Rakhi’s silicone implants that were beeped by the channel.

Rubina, on the other hand, has moved from her staid “Shikshika” (schoolteacher) mode to a silently operating schemer of sorts. She has chosen to pick on Arshi ever since the latter’s entry.

Rubina was a part of shows such as Chotti Bahu and Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, and has essayed exemplary Indian values with her roles in these shows. On Bigg Boss 14, however, she has been busy name-calling Arshi.

She has often been seen using words such as “gandi aurat” (dirty woman) for Arshi, besides expressions as “you are a joke”.

Rubina was also seen laughing when Jasmine was insulting Rakhi in a recent episode of Bigg Boss 14.

There is a saying that “real women fix each other’s crowns” but on Bigg Boss 14, it is the other way round. The women here seem to be pulling each other down.

Siddhant Chaturvedi turns on poet mode again

Actor Siddhant Chaturvedi is back with a new poem, and his fans on social media find the new composition relatable and liberating.

Siddhant often shares poems under the heading “MyNotes” on his social media platforms.

This time, in an Instagram post, the actor has shared a photo of him in the mountains and captioned it with his latest poetic flow.

“After the world makes you feel special for all the wrong reasons, after your life cycles around just one season, after those walks on the beach, do no good, and you have to go back to where you should.

“After a song is on repeat, and the lyrics make sense, but only for a while…and then we need to shuffle and change the beat.”

“After it’s no more flattering to be called ‘beautiful’… after your eyes start looking for
something more meaningful, after religion is crowned, and the gods are questioned. Your answer is love but it is not be mentioned.

“Stuck in limbo, this loop never ends…and you need to know that even space and time bend. No one knows the science, but we know love!? even though it’s not the trend.

“After all the joy ceases to be free, the only selfless smile lies here, with You and Me…
So Smile. MyNotes.”

Impressed by Siddhant’s writing skills, actor Tanuj Virwani commented: “Beautifully articulated my boy.”

Many fans also expressed their love for the poem. On the film front, Siddhant will next be seen in Shakun Batra’s untitled film with Deepika Padukone and Ananya Panday. He also has, “Bhoot Police” and “Bunty aur Babli 2” in his kitty.

Bigg Boss: Scenes chopped to sanitise image of certain stars?

A comment that shows host Salman Khan made on a recent Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 14 has made fans of the show sit up and wonder: Do the makers of the show chop portions of the drama in order to sanitize the image of certain contestants, particularly the ones who are or have been starring in other shows of Colors, the channel that airs the show?

It all happened when Salman decided to show the contestants what they have actually been up to in the house, at times perhaps without realizing. The first Weekend Ka Vaar of the year was all about showing the contestants that they were getting unduly mean to each other with every passing day.

Salman showed a clip of the time Jasmin Bhasin, Aly Goni, Rubina Dilaik, Abhinav Shukla, Nikki Tamboli, and Rahul Vaidya were enjoying making fun of Rakhi Sawant.

Then came his comment. With seething rage, Salman declared that they are not showing all of what these guys had actually done, else their image would have gone for a toss.

The biggest draw of a reality show is supposed to be the dose of reality that comes minus any alteration — more so in the case of Bigg Boss, which claims to thrive on the quirks of human psychology.

If what Salman says is indeed true, if bits are being chopped off to present housemates in a way that their image is compatible with their public image, then that raises a serious question on the veracity of ‘truth’ being shown on Bigg Boss.

A pertinent point to be taken into consideration here is that most of the celebrities who were considered to be on ‘the wrong side’ in this particular case, have been associated with several shows on the channel Colors.

Rubina has been the face of the popular show Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki for a long time. Jasmin has featured in Naagin and Dil Se Dil Tak, while Abhinav was seen as the antagonist in Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka. Aly was also seen in Naagin.

This is not the first time that Salman has spoken about altering footage to protect the image.

During the highly popular Bigg Boss 13, he had shared that the channel is not showing what all things Sidharth Shukla and Rashami Desai had been saying about each other to save themselves from tarnishing their image. Not to forget, Sidharth and Rashami were the faces of the channel’s popular show Dil Se Dil Tak.

Now, the question arises is that whose image is the channel trying to protect — the celebrities’ or their own?

Mehbooba as CM spent Rs 82L in 6 months; once Rs 28L a day: RTI

Mehbooba Mufti spent nearly Rs 82 lakh in six months from January to June 2018 on the refurbishment of her official residence in Srinagar’s Gupkar Road, when she was the Chief Minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. The expenditure was all paid by the Government of India, reveals an RTI response.

The RTI application filed by Jammu and Kashmir based activist, Inam-un-Nabi Soudagar, reveals that between January -June 2018, Mufti spent nearly Rs 82 lakh on bedsheets, furniture, TVs, and other items.

The RTI shows that on March 28, 2018, Mehbooba spent Rs 28 lakh in a single-day for buying carpets.

In June 2018 alone, she spent more than Rs 25 lakh on various items, including LED TVs worth Rs 22 lakh.

IANS accessed a copy of the RTI response dated September 1, 2020, which showed expenses worth Rs 14 lakh on January 30, 2017. The item included a garden umbrella worth Rs 2,94,314.

The RTI response further reveals that bedsheets worth Rs 11,62,000 were purchased on February 22, 2018.

In March 2018, Mufti spent nearly Rs 56 lakh, including Rs 25 lakh on furniture and nearly Rs 28 lakh on the carpets.

The purchases also involved cutlery items worth Rs 40 lakh in a period of two years, from August 2016 to July 2018.

The details come after the successful completion of recently held District Development Council elections in the union territory, which Mehbooba Mufti’s party Peoples Democratic Party had vowed to abandon until Jammu and Kashmir’s special status was restored.

However, Mufti’s party did contest the elections in which it managed to get only 27 out of 280 District Development Council seats.
