Scorsese, Kevin Costner, De Niro mourn Ray Liotta’s passing

Los Angeles, May 27 Hollywood tributes are pouring in for Ray Liotta, the distinctive ‘Goodfellas’ actor, who died in his sleep at the age of 67. The actor was in the Dominican Republic at the time of his death shooting for the movie ‘Dangerous Waters’. Liotta went to sleep and never woke up, the actor’s publicist confirmed, according to ‘Variety’.

‘Goodfellas’ director Martin Scorsese remembered the actor in a statement: “I’m absolutely shocked and devastated by the sudden, unexpected death of Ray Liotta. He was so uniquely gifted, so adventurous, so courageous as an actor.”

Scorsese noted: “Playing Henry Hill in ‘Goodfellas’ was a tall order, because the character had so many different facets, so many complicated layers, and Ray was in almost every scene of a long, tough shoot. He absolutely amazed me, and I’ll always be proud of the work we did together on that picture. My heart goes out to his loved ones, and it aches for his loss, way too early.”

Liotta’s ‘Field of Dreams’ co-star Kevin Costner tweeted: “Devastated to hear the news of Ray Liotta’s passing. While he leaves an incredible legacy, he’ll always be ‘Shoeless Joe Jackson’ in my heart. What happened at that moment in the film was real. God gave us that stunt. Now God has Ray.”

His ‘Goodfellas’ co-star Robert De Niro shared a statement, writing: “I was very saddened to learn of Ray’s passing. He is way too young to have left us. May he Rest in Peace.”

Another of Liotta’s ‘Goodfellas’ co-stars, Lorraine Bracco, wrote on Twitter: “I can be anywhere in the world and people will come up and tell me their favourite movie is ‘Goodfellas’. Then they always ask what was the best part of making that movie. My response has always been the same … Ray Liotta.”

‘F3’ director Anil Ravipudi releases video, targets trolls

0

Hyderabad, May 27 In the middle of the buzz surrounding Anil Ravipudi’s Telugu family entertainer ‘F3’, the director has released a video in which he attempts to silence his trolls.

Ravipudi and his film have been the targets of troll attacks on social media. Unfazed, Ravipudi has stated that he will continue to make films in his signature style and therefore does not take the negative feedback to heart.

The debutant director compares trolls who try to bring down his films to non-vegetarians who shame vegetarians by comparing each individual’s food choices.

“Non-vegetarians have no idea of what vegetarian food tastes like and vegetarians will not stop eating the way they do just because they are being trolled,” Ravipudi said. There is an audience for all types of films as long as they are well-made.

With his over-the-top films that pack in a lot of fun, Ravipudi has carved a niche for himself. His latest, ‘F3’, is out in theatres and early reports suggest that the movie is an entertainer.

Is ‘Adhikari’ the title of Ram Charan-Shankar’s film with Kiara Advani?

0

Hyderabad, May 27 The upcoming big-budget film starring Ram Charan and directed by Shankar Shanmugham has been in the works for some time. There are rumors aplenty now that a tentative title has been circulated.

According to online sources, the tentative title for ‘RC15’ is ‘Adhikari’. The title has been well received on social media, as it is appropriate for all of the languages in which the film is being produced.

Ram Charan plays an IAS officer and the plot revolves around politics. Kiara Advani, who previously appeared alongside Ram Charan in ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’, will also be seen with the Telugu star in this political drama.

Ram Charan, who made national headlines with S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster ‘RRR’, has shifted his focus entirely to this film with Shankar following the failure of ‘Acharya’, where he appeared with his father Chiranjeevi.

‘RC15’, which is being bankrolled by Dil Raju, has been written by Karthik Subbaraj of ‘Petta’ fame.

Victim opposes actor-producer Vijay Babu’s anticipatory bail plea

0

Kochi, May 26 The actress, who has accused actor-producer Vijay Babu of rape, on Thursday asked the Kerala High Court not to grant him anticipatory bail, as an accused cannot decide the terms of bail.

The court, after hearing both the sides, said the plea of the actor-producer, who is on the run ever since the allegations came out, will not be considered if he fails to return to Kerala on May 30, and posted the case for Friday.

The Kerala Police has been trying their best to bring back Vijay Babu, who slipped out of the country last month to Dubai and from thereafter the police began steps to issue a red corner notice – headed for Georgia and is now there.

His counsel has already informed the court that he will be landing in Kerala on Monday.

The actor-producer was on the run after the actress from Kozhikode filed a complaint in Ernakulam on April 22 that she was raped and beaten up by him several times in a flat in Kochi.

She has also accused him of giving her intoxicants before sexually abusing her.

Soon after the news surfaced, Vijay Babu appeared live on his social media handle claiming that he was the “real victim” in this case, adding that he would take appropriate legal steps against the complainant whom he also named.

The police, apart from the initial complaint, has registered a second case against him for disclosing the name of the complainant.
