Akkineni Nagarjuna and director Mani Ratnam’s evergreen romantic classic Geethanjali is finally preparing for another theatrical outing. After multiple delays, the makers have officially announced a fresh release date for the film’s much-awaited 4K re-release.
In October 2025, the team initially planned to bring the film back to theatres on November 14, 2025. However, the re-release was postponed. Another attempt was scheduled for August 28, 2026, but that plan was also put on hold.
Now, Annapurna Studios has confirmed November 13, 2026, as the new theatrical re-release date. The restored version promises an enhanced audio and visual experience, giving fans an opportunity to revisit the beloved classic on the big screen. Shree Padmini Cinemas is handling the re-release arrangements.
Originally released in 1989, Geethanjali remains one of the most memorable films in Nagarjuna’s career. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the movie won audiences over with its emotional storytelling, beautiful cinematography, and unforgettable romantic moments.
Girija Shettar, who made a memorable debut with the film, remains closely associated with its enduring appeal. The soulful music composed by Ilaiyaraaja is another major highlight, with the soundtrack continuing to connect with music lovers across generations.
Produced under the Bhagyalakshmi Enterprises banner, the 37-year-old film has retained its special place in Telugu cinema history.

With the new release date now announced, fans will be hoping that the re-release proceeds as planned this time. Further details regarding the theatrical rollout and screenings are expected to be revealed by the makers soon.
