The Mahabharata is not just mythology—it’s the greatest epic ever told, filled with moral dilemmas, timeless lessons, and larger-than-life characters. Now, Netflix India is set to bring this legendary tale to a new generation with its first-ever mythological series, Kurukshetra.
Planned as a two-part saga with nine episodes each, the series premieres on October 10, 2025. Unlike traditional retellings, Kurukshetra unfolds through the eyes of 18 warriors, each struggling with loyalty, duty, revenge, and the personal sacrifices demanded by a war that turned brothers into enemies.
The series is created by Anu Sikka, produced under the Tipping Point banner by Sikka, Alok Jain, and Ajit Andhare. Written and directed by Ujaan Ganguly, the show also features poetic verses crafted by legendary lyricist Gulzar.
“The battle of Kurukshetra is timeless – a clash of destiny, duty, and moral choices,” says creator Anu Sikka. “Through animation and layered storytelling, we hope to explore these 18 days with depth and perspective, making them accessible to audiences across India and beyond.”
With cutting-edge visuals and a fresh narrative lens, Kurukshetra promises to be one of Netflix India’s most ambitious projects, redefining how the Mahabharata is experienced on screen.
