Date:

Coronavirus cases climbed to 418 on Monday, several states of India announced a complete lockdown till the end of the month. From Maharashtra to Uttar Pradesh and From Punjab to Kerala, different states announced a slew of measures after a surge in Coronavirus cases across the nation. On the other hand, the Centre has asked state governments to strictly enforce the lockdown and take legal action against those who violated the restrictions.

Any person disobeying any regulation or order made under this Act shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, which can lead to a jail term of six months, a fine of Rs 1000, or both. However, during the lockdown, state administrations have been advised to keep the essential services running. Hospitals, medical stores grocery and vegetable shops are asked to function normally. But an important question still persists that is India’s move to lockdown much of the world’s second-most populous country enough to soften the impact of the coronavirus outbreak?
