Rajinikanth’s Coolie Crosses ₹380 Cr Worldwide in First Weekend; Falls Short of Leo
Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-hyped big-budget film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has successfully wrapped up its first weekend at the global box office. Despite mixed reviews and stiff competition from War 2, the film delivered an impressive performance.
In just 4 days, Coolie grossed around ₹380 crore worldwide, with Day 4 alone contributing nearly ₹62 crore. In North America, the film crossed the $8 million mark, highlighting Rajinikanth’s strong overseas pull.
However, trade reports reveal that Coolie fell slightly behind Vijay’s Leo, which grossed ₹403 crore during its extended first weekend. This means Leo still retains the record for the biggest Kollywood opener. An official confirmation from the Coolie team is awaited.
The star-studded entertainer also features Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, and Soubin Shahir in key roles. Produced by Sun Pictures with music by Anirudh Ravichander, Coolie is expected to test its box office strength starting today (Monday) as weekday trends take over.
