Ranbir Kapoor and director Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious epic Ramayana is carrying enormous expectations ahead of its release. While the film is expected to attract audiences across India, its overseas performance could play a major role in determining its commercial success.
According to trade estimates, the film needs to collect at least $30 million from the US market alone to reach its reported break-even target. Considering its massive budget, grand production scale and star-studded cast, the makers are looking to attract audiences beyond Indian territories as well.
Overseas collections are expected to be particularly important for the film. However, achieving the $30 million target will be a challenging task, especially with reports suggesting that the makers have spent close to $10 million on international promotions.
With huge expectations surrounding the project, all eyes are now on its overseas box-office performance. It remains to be seen whether Ramayana can turn its global promotional campaign into the massive theatrical collections it needs.
