Ranveer Singh to play Kapil Dev on the Silver Screen
Kapil Dev would be seen on the silver screen pretty soon. After Sushant Singh Rajput played the role of ‘MS Dhoni’ in ‘MS Dhoni: An untold story,’ Ranveer Singh will be playing the 1983 Indian Captain’s role.
MS Dhoni is remembered as one among the greatest captains for winning the 2011 Cricket World Cup, while Kapil Dev is be regarded as the man who created history.India entered the 1983 Cricket World Cup as underdogs and clinched the title against the mighty favorites West Indies on June 25, 1983, at Cricket’s Mecca, Lord’s Cricket Ground.
With Kabir Khan directing the film, Ranveer Khan is given the responsibility to essay the role of the legendary Indian Captain.It is also learned that Kapil’s unbeaten 175 against Zimbabwe and his running catch to get rid of Vivian Richards in the final will be highlighted in the film.
When questioned whether the actor can really play his role of and replicate his iconic bowling action on the screen, Kapil said that ‘I don’t know. I could not believe that Farhan Akhtar looked better than Milka uncle. It is too early to make any statement at this stage.’
He also added that ‘Think of the positive side. These actors are good.’ ‘The shooting of the film is expected to start later this year,’ quoted the film’s unit.
