Injured KKR pacer Ali Khan ruled out of IPL 2020

0

US fast bowler Ali Khan, who was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad, has been ruled out of the remaining Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 tournament due to an injury.

Khan had been brought in as a replacement for English pacer Harry Gurney, who had to undergo a shoulder surgery before the start of the tournament.

“…Kolkata Knight Riders signed up Ali Khan as a replacement for injured Harry Gurney. Khan became the first USA cricketer to be signed up by an IPL franchise. Unfortunately, Khan has since been injured and will miss the rest of the IPL 2020 season,” an official IPL statement read.

Khan, the first player from the US to join an IPL franchise, was, however, unable to find a place in the playing XI in the four matches that KKR played till now in the tournament.

The right-arm fast bowler had come into the IPL on the back of a successful campaign at the Caribbean Premier League 2020 with the Trinbago Knight Riders — the CPL franchise with the same parent company as KKR — in which they won all 12 matches to seal the title. In the season, Khan took eight wickets in eight matches that he played.

The Dinesh Karthik-led side, with four points, is currently placed at the fourth spot in the points table and will next take on Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday evening at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.

Steve Smith fined for slow over-rate against Mumbai Indians

0

Rajasthan Royals captain Steve Smith has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining slow over-rate during his side’s 57-run loss against Mumbai Indians in their latest Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 encounter.

“As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Mr. Smith was fined Rs 12 lakh,” stated an IPL media release.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli were also fined for maintaining slow over-rates during their respective matches against SunRisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab.

On Tuesday evening, the Royals were bowled out for 136 during their chase of 194 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Smith could only manage six runs and was one of four wickets that Jasprit Bumrah took. Only Jos Buttler could manage to stay long at the crease as he contributed with 70 runs from 44 balls.

With the win, the defending champions have moved to the top spot with eight points from six games. Royals, on the other hand, are placed seventh with four points from five games and will take on Delhi Capitals in their next encounter on Friday.

Team Rhea accuses Sushant’s family of ‘interference’ in probe

Accusing the family of Sushant Singh Rajput and their legal advisors of “interfering and tampering with the investigations”, Team Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyers have warned that they will bring it to the notice of the appropriate courts.

Advocate Satish Maneshinde, who represents Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik, said that the kin and lawyers of the late actor are raising doubts on the probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and also the conclusions of the AIIMS forensic team.

“The CBI is independently and impartially investigating both the cases and the agency is supposed to be insulated and free from any interference,” Maneshinde said, referring to the probe into the actor’s death and the offshoot drugs cases.

However, he said it is disturbing to learn that Sushant’s family and their lawyers “are interfering and tampering with the investigations”, putting pressure on the AIIMS team by speaking to them during investigations and releasing purported audio conversations and information to the media in order to pressurize and tamper with the potential witnesses.

“Sushant’s family lawyer (Vikas Singh) is supposed to have said that he is going to meet the CBI Director to get the family’s predetermined path of investigations into SSR’s death. It is very disturbing to read such information in the media as attempts are being made to get a pre-determined result in the case,” Maneshinde pointed out.

He made it clear that if “any further attempts” are made in this direction, it would be brought to the notice of the appropriate courts.

Maneshinde’s statement came shortly after a Mumbai Special Court extended the judicial custody of Rhea and Showik by another fortnight till October 20.

Meanwhile, in a related development, Sushant’s sisters — Priyanka Singh (New Delhi) and Meetu Singh (Mumbai) — recently moved the Bombay High Court to get the FIR lodged against them by Rhea, accusing them of administering medicines based on a bogus prescription, quashed.

“A bare perusal of the complaint and the FIR shows that it does not make out any cognizable offense. The drugs that have sought to be allegedly given by Tarun Kumar have not banned drugs,” the petition said.

Maneshinde said both the FIRs registered in a Patna police station by Sushant’s father Krishna Kishore Singh and the complaint by Rhea against the late actor’s sisters in the Bandra police station have been forwarded to the CBI.

Rhea, 28, and Showik, 24, are among the 20 people, including several drug peddlers, suppliers, and Bollywood-linked personalities, who have been arrested in connection with the NCB’s probe into the narcotics angle in Sushant’s case.

Rhea and Showik had applied for bail in the Bombay High Court, on which the final arguments were heard on September 29 by Justice S.V. Kotwal, who had reserved the final order on it.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar ruled out of IPL

0

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowling mainstay Bhuvneshwar Kumar has succumbed to injury once again, the latest injury ruling him out of this year’s IPL.

The India fast bowler, who has been Sunrisers’ trump card in the death overs and has rarely missed a game for his IPL franchise, had to limp off the field in the last match against Chennai Super Kings after pulling up while bowling his last over.

“Bhuvneshwar Kumar is ruled out of #Dream11IPL 2020 due to injury. Prithvi Raj Yarra will replace Bhuvi for the remainder of the season,” tweeted SRH from their official handle.

Bhuvi, as he is fondly known among teammates and fans, has suffered a spate of injuries recently and that has put a question mark on the future of his career. One of the best exponents with a new ball, the right-arm bowler has added skills in death bowling at Sunrisers Hyderabad which has made him valuable in limited-overs cricket.

During the 2018 IPL, he had to sit out of five matches because of back trouble and then missed a few games on the limited-overs tour of England before being forced to return home midway through the Test series.

At the 2019 Cricket World Cup, he suffered a hamstring strain during the India-Pakistan match and had to pull out. He then missed a few games. Despite that, he was India’s second most successful bowler in ODIs behind Mohammed Shami.

Later that year, his sports hernia went undetected following tests at a private lab recommended by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Bhuvi was quite confident of recovering and leading India at the now-shelved World T20.

At this IPL, he was playing any form of cricket for the first time in nine months and had done well in three of the four matches.

K’taka Congress MP DK Suresh tests Covid positive

0

Congress’ Lok Sabha MP from Bangalore Rural, D.K. Suresh said on Tuesday that he has tested positive for coronavirus and is in isolation though he is asymptomatic.

“I have tested positive for Covid-19 and in isolation. I request all, including family members and friends who have been in contact with me to test themselves,” Suresh tweeted.

He also requested media persons and officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who were with him on Monday during a search operation in his house, to get themselves tested.

Suresh, 53, is the only opposition Congress member who won from the Bangalore Rural parliamentary constituency in the May 2019 general elections, while the party’s other candidates lost in the 20 Lok Sabha seats they contested from the southern state.

Suresh is the younger brother of the party’s state unit president D.K. Shivakumar, who is a legislator from the Kanakapura assembly segment in Ramanagara district.

The CBI had on Monday raided the houses of both the brothers in the upscale Sadashivanagar area in the city centre for allegedly amassing assets and wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.

Shivakumar, 58, was also infected by the virus on August 25 and recovered after undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city.

State Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar also tested COVID positive on Monday and is presently under home isolation.

“As I have tested positive for Covid-19, I will be home quarantined for a few days on the advice of doctors. No need to panic as there are no symptoms,” Suresh Kumar tweeted.

Kumar, 64, is the ruling BJP’s legislator for the fifth term from the Rajajinagar assembly segment in the city’s northwest suburb.

Kumar is among the dozen state cabinet ministers who have been infected by the virus.

Among the COVID-hit ministers were Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Deputy Chief Ministers Govid Karjol, and C.N. Ashwath Narayan, J.C. Madhuswamy, Basavaraj Bommai, K. Gopalaiah, Byrathi Basavaraj, Prabhu Chavan, Shivaram Hebbar, K.S. Eshwarappa and B. Sriramulu.

According to state assembly Speaker Vishwanath Hegde Kageri, about 70 legislators of the BJP, opposition Congress and Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) contracted the virus ahead of the six-day monsoon session in September.

In the Congress, its leader Siddaramaiah and lawmakers H.K. Patil and Dinesh Gundu Rao had tested positive.

Drugs case: CCB raids properties linked to son of late underworld don

0

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Bengaluru Police on Tuesday conducted raids at the residence of Ricky Rai, son of late underworld don Muttappa Rai, in connection with the drugs case involving Sandalwood celebrities.

Ricky Rai is the son of late underworld don Muttappa Rai, who died in May this year due to cancer.

The case pertains to drug abuse among bigwigs including Kannada film actors Ragini Dwivedi, Sanjjanaa Galrani, rave party organizer Viren Khanna and realtor Rahul Thonse.

The CCB is searching for clues to find out the whereabouts of Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi’s brother-in-law, Aditya Alva and other accused who are absconding from Day 1 in the alleged Sandalwood drugs case that came to light last month.

A statement released by Bengaluru Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Sandeep Patil said that the CCB has obtained a search warrant to conduct raids on Ricky Rai’s properties allegedly for his support to a few key accused persons still at large.

Speaking to reporters, a senior official pointed out that the raids were conducted at Rai’s sprawling farmhouse in Bidadi in Ramanagara district and a flat in Sadashivanagar here.

The CCB is investigating the drug abuse case after the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested three people hailing from Kerala in Bengaluru, who were allegedly supplying drugs to Kannada film actors and singers.

Rahul’s tractor rally stopped briefly on Haryana border, later allowed

In the wake of assertions by the Haryana government to not allow Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to enter the state after his tractor rally in neighboring Punjab, he was briefly stopped on the Punjab-Haryana border but was later allowed to enter after heated arguments between the party workers and the police.

“They have stopped us on a bridge on the Haryana border. I’m not moving and am happy to wait here. 1 hour, 5 hours, 24 hours, 100 hours, 1,000 hours or 5,000 hours,” Rahul tweeted.

The Congress’ tractor rally — which the party held in Punjab from Sunday onwards — entered Haryana from the Pehowa border.

The former Congress chief will visit the Pehowa mandi and also address a meeting at the Kurukshetra Anaj Mandi.

The tractor rally started on Sunday from Badhni Kalan town in Moga district of Punjab and reached the Haryana border via Ludhiana, Sangrur, and Patiala.

Rahul claimed on Tuesday that the new farm laws will end up destroying the MSP and PDS systems for the poor.

“The danger is real and cannot be negated just because Modi and Company are making fun of me,” he said.

Social media postings lead to hate crimes: Study

0

In a major study, researchers have found that posts about refugees on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter may have contributed to hate crimes against them.

The study, published in the European Economic Association, investigated how negative rhetoric about refugees on social media may have contributed to hate crimes against refugees in Germany between 2015 and 2017.

“We think our paper can only be a starting point for understanding how social media causes changes in our lives. Our findings on hate crime suggest that the stakes are high,” said study author Karsten Müller from Princeton University in the US.

In Germany, social media is among the main news sources of 18 to 25-year-olds. In the US, around half of all adults use social media to get news, and two-thirds of Facebook users use it as a news source.

In contrast to traditional media, social media platforms allow users to easily self-select into niche topics and extreme viewpoints.

This may limit the range of information people absorb and create online communities that reinforce similar ideas and viewpoints.

The researchers measured anti-refugee sentiment on social media based on the Facebook page of the Alternative für Deutschland, a relatively new right-wing party that positions itself as anti-refugee and anti-immigration.

The party is by far the most popular far-right political movement in Germany and with more than 300,000 followers, 175,000 posts, 290,000 comments, and 500,000 likes (as of early 2017), its Facebook page has a broader reach than that of any other German party.

As the researchers show, the rhetoric about refugees on the Alternative für Deutschland Facebook page differs markedly from traditional news sources and in many cases contains language that prominent German non-governmental organizations have classified as hate speech.

The researchers established that spikes in posts about refugees on social media are tightly linked to anti-refugee hate crimes, particularly in municipalities where people were more exposed to the Alternative für Deutschland page.

This correlation was especially pronounced for violent incidents such as assault.

Municipalities with Alternative für Deutschland users were three times more likely to experience an attack during the observation period.

Out of the total 3,335 attacks on refugees in the same sample, 3,171 occurred in municipalities with Alternative für Deutschland Facebook page users.

The authors found that, while anti-refugee attacks increased with anti-refugee posts, this relationship disappeared during the internet or Facebook outages.

The researchers do not claim that social media itself causes crimes against refugees. Rather, the results suggest that social media can help propagate violent crimes by enabling people to spread extreme viewpoints.

Data, trust and skills to drive AI adoption in India: IBM CEO

0

Stressing that artificial intelligence (AI) is a driver of economic growth, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna has said that a greater AI adoption is driven by three imperatives — data, trust, and skills — and this is where India should focus its efforts.

Speaking at the Responsible AI for Social Empowerment (RAISE 2020) global summit, Krishna said that getting AI done right is difficult and we’re only at about four percent into the journey globally.

“The basic premise is this — to run, AI needs good data. Like other sources of capital, the value comes from how you refine and apply it,” he told the audience during the virtual event.

“The second imperative is trust. This is paramount. Especially when you are applying AI in highly-regulated and safety-critical domains like healthcare, for instance. Instilling trust in AI means avoiding bias, being explainable, and being able to reproduce results,” Krishna elaborated.

The five-day ‘RAISE 2020′, a virtual summit on AI, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.

According to Krishna, the third and final imperative for success in AI skill.

“Building AI models can be a daunting and labor-intensive task. And there’s a massive skills shortage. I’m proud of the investments IBM is making in the future of Indian skills,” he said.

AI is slated to unlock $15.7 trillion in productivity by 2030.

“That is a big number. But AI has the potential to not only boost economic growth but improve the livelihoods of millions around the world,’ said Krishna.

Krishna called Hybrid Cloud and AI “the two dominant forces driving digital transformation.”

“AI, together with Hybrid Cloud and, in the not so distant future Quantum computing, is having a profound impact on virtually every sector of society.

“I’m eager to see India push this transformation forward,” the IBM CEO said.

Hyderabad Zoo re-opens after nearly seven months

0

The Nehru Zoological Park, one of the key tourist attractions in Hyderabad, was Tuesday re-opened after nearly seven months.

Amid elaborate safety measures in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Zoo gates were re-opened. Fewer visitors were seen but authorities expect the numbers to increase in the coming days.

As per the Covid-19 protocol approved by the Central Zoo Authority and the Chief Wildlife Warden, Telangana, the zoo authorities took several measures for the safety of visitors, staff, and animals.

Wearing of masks and maintaining social distance was made mandatory for the visitors. Those with high body temperature and suspected symptoms of COVID will not be allowed to enter.

Children below 10 years and adults above 65 years of age are advised to avoid visiting the zoo, especially on weekends and public holidays.

In the first phase, only the open enclosure/moats were opened for the visitors. Closed facilities like the Safari Park, the Nocturnal Animal House, the Reptile House, the Aquarium, the Fossil Museum, the Natural History Museum, etc, will be re-opened in due course, officials said.

The number of ticket counters was reduced to six from 12 earlier as the authorities are encouraging visitors to book their tickets on the zoo website or by installing a mobile app.

Boards prominently displaying the new guidelines for the visitors were installed at the entrance and at various points in the premises. “Avoid touching barricades and other surfaces” was written on one such board.

Markings were made on the ground for visitors to stand at ticket centers and at the entrance in such a way that the minimum physical distance is maintained.

The zoo staff was seen doing a thermal screening of all the visitors before allowing them. Hand sanitizer vending machines were also installed for the convenience of the visitors at the entrance and various other points.

All the visitors have to use the medicated foot bath at the entrance and strictly follow six feet of social distancing while at the zoo premises.

The battery-operated vehicles (BOVs) and the Toy Train are running with 50 percent occupancy to ensure social distancing.

The visitor will have to move along the designated pathway only. They are advised to avoid touching barricades and other surfaces so as to minimize the chances of infection.

The Zoo authorities announced that spitting and littering in the Zoo premises will attract a fine of Rs 1,000.

Security personnel on duty will monitor compliance of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and social distancing among the visitors. Violators shall be removed from the Zoo.

The ticket counter personnel, security personnel, BOV drivers have been instructed to wear face masks and shields. For the safety of the visitors, the public area in the zoo is sanitized twice every day.

Popular and one of the biggest zoos in the country, the NZP was closed from March 15 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Spread over 300 acres, the zoo is home to nearly 181 indigenous and exotic species, including 1,716 animals, birds, and reptiles.

Known as one of the best zoos in Asia, it attracts around 30 lakh visitors annually.

Mirzapur 2′ trailer promises a season of revenge

The trailer of the anticipated web series Mirzapur 2 finally released on Tuesday after almost a year-long wait, with adequate violence and drama duly in place.

The two-minute trailer begins with Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) saying: “Jo aaya hai, woh jaayega bhi, bas marzi humari hogi. Gaddi pe chahe hum rahe ya Munna, niyam same hoga (Whoever comes, will certainly leave, but according to my wish. Whoever sits on the throne, whether it is me or Munna, the rules will be the same).”

In the clip, we also see Shweta Tripathi (Golu) in a fierce gun-totting avatar, as she promises to rule Mirzapur.

Season one finished with the death of two important characters — Bablu Pandit (Vikrant Massey) and Sweety Gupta (Shriya Pilgaonkar) — and the upcoming season is all about revenge. Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) and Golu (Shweta) will be seen locking horns with Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) and his son Munna Tripathi( Divyendu Sharma).

Set in Uttar Pradesh, the web series also features Rasika Duggal, Vijay Verma, Rajesh Tailang, Sheeba Chadha, Priyanshu Painyuli, and Isha Talwar.

Vijay, who was not a part of the season 1, expressed his happiness on joining the cast in the second season.

Divyendu admitted that the shoot of Mirzapur was dark and intense for him.

“Mirzapur gets so intense and dark at times that it becomes important to breathe a little fresh air. So, apart from showcasing the bad, villainous qualities of Munna, I also tried to show his humane side to the audience,” he said.

“Mirzapur 2” will stream on Amazon Prime Video from October 23.

Rahul counters with Modi plane jibe when trolled for cushion on tractors

Rahul Gandhi has been trolled by the BJP for using a cushion while riding a tractor on the third day of his tractor rally in Punjab on Tuesday. But the former Congress president countered the trolls for not asking questions about the Prime Minister’s recently refurbished aircraft.

In a press conference in Patiala, Rahul hit back saying “no question will be asked why PM Narendra Modi bought planes for Rs 8,000 crore” and there are no cushions in the plane but beds (“Ek Nahi 50 palang hain usme”).

“Nobody says that Modi bought planes because his friend Trump has planes and he also wanted it,” said Rahul.

He said that there is always talk of cushions on tractors because Rahul Gandhi and Amarinder Singh sat on a tractor.

Rahul was mentioning two Boeing B777 aircraft, which have been specially retrofitted with the latest self-defense protection suite for VVIP transport duties, which landed at the IGI Airport last week.

The aircraft, which were originally owned by Air India, will now be handed over to the Indian Air Force (IAF), which will use it to ferry the Prime Minister, the President, and the Vice President.

In response to a question on Modi making fun of his protests in Punjab and Haryana, Rahul shrugged it off, pointing out they had done that in February too when he had first warned about coronavirus.

But the truth is there for all to see now, he said, adding that six months on, everyone will know the truth of what he is saying now on the farm laws too.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Modi’s earlier statement that India will win the war against coronavirus in 22 days, the Congress leader said, “You can see for yourself who talks more sense — Modi or me.”

“You (media) can decide who is joking,” said Rahul.

Noting that all systems are connected, and destruction of one leads to the ruin of others, Rahul said that the farm laws will end up destroying the MSP and the PDS (public distribution system) for the poor too.

“The danger is real and cannot be negated just because Modi and Company are making fun of me,” he remarked.

Shweta Basu Prasad discovers the challenge of comedy in her latest

Actress Shweta Basu Prasad tries comedy in the upcoming film Comedy Couple. The experience of working in a comedy made her realize every genre comes with its charm and challenges.

“Every genre has its charm and challenges. Comedy is challenging because you have to make people laugh and I feel laughing and crying are strong emotions. So, if it is a well-written script half the job is done,” Shweta said.

As an artist, she keeps certain things in mind. “Also, as a performer, you have to keep in mind the thin line between overdoing and underdoing things. It could be a great joke but if you overdo it, it might not work,” she said.

“It is, of course, a collaborative effort between co-actors and that matters a lot in the comedy genre. The execution matters a lot, too,” she said.

The film is being billed a comedy romance or com-rom. “I have never done an out-and-out com-rom as they call it,” Shweta said, about the film that casts her as a stand-up comedian.

She shared she had a great time on the set. “There were times we were actually rolling on the floor and laughing on jokes and scenes that we were doing. I hope it makes the audience laugh too,” she claimed.

“Comedy Couple” also stars Saqib Saleem. Directed by Nachiket Samant, the film is based in Gurgaon against the backdrop of the burgeoning stand-up comedy scene in the city. “Comedy Couple” is based on a story by Bikas Mishra, with a screenplay by Raghav Kakkar and Kashyap Kapoor. It will drop on Zee5 soon.

Russia’s reusable rocket plan a step in right direction: Musk

0

SpaceX founder Elon Musk on Tuesday supported Russia’s plan to spend about $880 million on creating its first reusable carrier rocket with a methane propellant.

Russian space agency Roscosmos and the Progress Rocket and Space Center signed a contract on Monday to develop the ‘Amur’ reusable space rocket.

“It’s a step in the right direction, but they should really aim for full reusability by 2026,” Musk tweeted.

He added: “Larger rockets would also make sense for literal economies of scale. Goal should be to minimize cost per useful ton to orbit or it will at best serve a niche market”.

The Russian reusable methane-fueled rocket will get a reusable first stage and its launches will be carried out from the Vostochny spaceport in the Russian Far East.

“The cost of the work on creating the reusable rocket will not exceed 70 billion rubles (around $880 million) while the price of a launch service is stipulated at the level of $22 million,” Roscosmos told TASS news agency.

The reusable rocket is set to blast off for the first time together with a payload in 2026. The launch vehicle will be able to orbit up to 12.5 tonnes of payload.

Roscosmos also plans to develop a larger rocket with an increased lifting capacity.

SpaceX has Falcon 9 which is a reusable, two-stage rocket designed and manufactured by SpaceX for the reliable and safe transport of people and payloads into Earth orbit and beyond.

Falcon 9 is the world’s first orbital class reusable rocket. Reusability allows SpaceX to refly the most expensive parts of the rocket, which, in turn, drives down the cost of space access.

According to reports, SpaceX advertises a launch cost of $62 million for its Falcon 9 rocket — a price the company has held steady for nearly four and a half years.

Telemedicine saves chronic pain patients time, money

0

Patients who saw a pain medicine specialist via telemedicine saved time and money and were highly satisfied with their experience, even before the Covid-19 pandemic, say researchers.

The study, presented at the recent ANESTHESIOLOGY 2020 annual meeting, verified that many chronic pain patients are confident they will receive good care via telemedicine while avoiding lengthy commutes and time in traffic.

“This era of contactless interactions and social distancing has really accelerated the adoption of telemedicine, but even before the pandemic, patient satisfaction was consistently high,” said study lead author Laleh Jalilian from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the US.

According to the researchers, patients who are being evaluated for new conditions may be better off having office visits initially.

“But once patients establish a relationship with providers, follow-up visits can occur efficiently with telemedicine, while maintaining patient rapport and quality outcomes. We believe 50 per cent of our visits could be conducted via telemedicine,” Jalilian said.

In the study, the researchers offered patients the choice of an in-office or telemedicine visit via secure video meetings or telephone calls: 1,398 patients chose telemedicine and were seen via 2,948 virtual appointments over a period of seven months.

Researchers determined that patients who opted for virtual visits avoided a median roundtrip driving distance of 26 miles and saved a median 69 minutes in traffic per trip, and a median of $22 on gas and parking per visit.

They also saved a median of $156 over the course of a median of three visits by avoiding the driving time and parking costs.

Of the 327 patients who completed surveys, 92 percent said they were satisfied with their experience.

The researchers said that for the adoption of telemedicine to be sustainable for pain clinic practices, policymakers should consider expanding reimbursement to encourage its use and create payment models that take into account the additional work required to offer telemedicine visits.

“Now that telemedicine is more widespread, it may become a valued part of care delivery in chronic pain practices,” said Jalilian.

“We hope it will encourage policymakers and insurance providers to continue to support these platforms and inspire more innovation in this developing field of research and patient care,” the study authors wrote.

“They are both built to last with an IPX4 rating to resist sweat as well as water and come with 11 levels of noise control so one can choose how much of the world you let in or keep out,” the company said in a statement.

The earbuds have 18 hours of total listening time – six hours fully charged and an additional 12 using their charging case, the company claimed.

In addition, the company also announces three new frames — each combining the protection and style of premium sunglasses with the functionality of headphones.

The new Frames Tempo, Tenor, and Soprano have polarised lenses, blocking up to 99 percent of UV rays. The frames will all be sold for Rs 21,900.
