It will cover a total distance of 375 kms in 19 Assembly and 7 Parliamentary constituencies in the state.

From Telangana the yatra will enter Maharashtra.

According to 9To5Google, the tech giant has prepared a number of shutdown messages for the Street View app.

In the notice, the company advice users to move to Google Maps or Street View Studio, as the Street View app will end on March 31, 2023.

“Street View App is going away and support will end March 21, 2023,” the company was quoted as saying in the report.

“To publish your own 360 video, switch to Street View Studio. To view Street View and add Photo Spheres, use Google Maps.”

Street View makes it simple to get a 360-degree view of almost any street, making it ideal for researching potential trip destinations or to just take a casual tour of the world from the comfort of home, the report said.

Earlier, with an aim to enhance user experience, Google Maps had brought back ‘Street View’ experience to India to help people navigate and explore places more visually and accurately.

The Indian government had suspended the service more than a decade ago as it failed to secure required security clearances.

Caroline Garcia begins WTA Finals campaign in style, defeats American teen Coco Gauff

0

French tennis player Caroline Garcia, making a WTA Finals appearance for the first time in five years, made a powerful statement in the year-ending championships with a straight-sets opening-round win over American teenager Coco Gauff in the round-robin tournament.

The No.6 seed Garcia needed 1 hour and 18 minutes to defeat No.4 Gauff 6-4, 6-3 on Tuesday night. It was the first round-robin match for each of them in the Tracy Austin Group. “It was definitely a good match, pretty solid on my side,” Garcia was quoted as saying by wtatennis.com after the match. “I think I stayed really positive at every moment.

“(Coco) is always impressive to play against, it’s always a lot of intensity and she can do so many things. … It was very important for me to stay calm, stay on my game and what I wanted to do, and I think I did it good.”

Garcia joins world No.1 Iga Swiatek of Poland as the first winners in the Austin Group. Swiatek dispatched No.8 seed Daria Kasatkina in straight sets earlier during the day.

Garcia’s maiden WTA Finals debut came in 2017 following consecutive WTA 1000 titles. She reached the semifinal then but missed out on singles qualification for the next three editions — the WTA Finals were not held in 2020 due to Covid-19.

At the start of this year, Garcia was ranked outside the top-70. However, is seeing resurgence in the second half this year, which she credits to increased aggressive play. Garcia has won 33 Tour-level matches since June, at least 10 more than any other player in that timeframe.

Garcia won three titles in the back end of 2022, all on different surfaces, and she made the first Grand Slam semifinal of her career at the US Open.

Garcia securing her second WTA Finals qualification five years after her debut means she becomes only the fourth players to have have had longer gaps between their first and second WTA Finals appearances — Amy Frazier (eight-years), Barbara Paulus (six years) and Judith Wiesner (six years).

Gauff had won their first two encounters, but Garcia achieved her career-best major result by beating Gauff in the 2022 US Open quarterfinals. Garcia continued her momentum against the American on Tuesday, firing 20 winners to Gauff’s 12.

PKL 9: Puneri Paltan register comprehensive win against Dabang Delhi

0

Puneri Paltan registered a comprehensive 43-38 win over Dabang Delhi in front of a packed Shree Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex here on Tuesday.

Akash Shinde and Mohit Goyat both got 13 points in a super performance while Fazel Atrachali’s impeccable defending ensured the home team condemned Delhi to a fifth straight loss.

After trading a pair of empty raids, on a DO-OR-DIE raid, Mohit Goyat brought the Pune crowd to its feet, with a SUPER RAID to touch out Krishan, Anil Kumar, Vijay Kumar, which put the Paltans in the lead. That single raid set the tone for a majority of the half, as Paltan ran riot on a porous Delhi defence low on confidence. The first ALL OUT came in the first five minutes, as Pune extended their lead to 10-3.

Despite a slow building Delhi resistance, Paltan got a second ALL OUT to surge into a huge lead and seemingly locked up the game. Dabang Delhi were out of sorts, and with the crowd firmly behind the home team, looked up against it completely. Slowly though, they clawed back the lead, Naveen Kumar finding his feet to catch out Fazel Atrachali and Gaurav Khatri to bring them back into the game. They went into the break trailing 23-17, but with only two Pune players left on the mat.

Delhi reduced the gap with an ALL OUT of their own, reducing the lead to three points and from there, it was a game too close to call. Akash Shinde’s SUPER RAID on Anil Kumar, Vijay Kumar and Ravi Kumar wrested back Pune’s initiative. Within minutes though, Delhi’s captain and the league’s leading raider Naveen, finding a SUPER TACKLE out of nowhere to get Delhi back in the game.

However, Paltan’s third ALL OUT of the evening thrust them into a 35-29 lead. The Puneri players kept their cool in the key moments to take the win in front of a raucous home crowd.

Users can soon use ‘Message Yourself’ feature on WhatsApp

0

Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly testing a self-messaging feature that would allow you to send messages to yourself more easily.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is now testing some improvements for sending messages to yourself for some beta testers on its beta apps for Android and iOS.

WhatsApp is now conducting a small test by rolling out “messages with yourself” to a select group of beta testers following the release of the WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.22.24.2 update.

Some beta testers found that WhatsApp is now highlighting that chat by adding “message yourself” as the chat caption after updating to the most recent version of the Android app, according to the report.

In this, WhatsApp has a new chat option called “Me (You)” that allows you to send messages to just yourself.

Meanwhile, you can still use WhatsApp to message yourself by using the wa.me (Click to Message link) or by creating a group in which you are the only participant.

But if you want to send an important message later or transfer files between your devices, then messaging yourself can be a useful feature or the best way to communicate with yourself.

T20 World Cup: Rain forecast, cold weather loom over India, Bangladesh ahead of Wednesday’s clash

0

The ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia has been heavily affected by inclement weather, especially seen in Melbourne, where four matches were affected by rain, resulting in three washouts without a ball being bowled.

Though India and Bangladesh have been largely unaffected by rain in the tournament till now, there is now a threat of inclement weather affecting their Super 12 match at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday.

As per the Australian Government’s Bureau of Meteorology, who had predicted La Nina weather effect in the country for the third straight year, the skies in Adelaide will be cloudy on Wednesday, with 60 per cent chance of showers predicted for evening.

On the eve of the match, Adelaide was greeted by cold weather and rains, which made the capital of South Australia look like a city from Europe. Bangladesh cancelled their practice session for the day, while the Indian team were forced to practice indoors.

While acknowledging that India have been lucky to avoid running into rain on match days, head coach Rahul Dravid said his team is ready to counter the inclement weather if it makes the T20I match a truncated affair.

“From our general chat, (it) has always been to control what we can control. The weather and what is going to happen, unfortunately we can’t really control it. I think considering one, Afghanistan has been a bit unfortunate. They’ve missed two of the games have been washed out.

“We’ve been lucky, we’ve been able to play all three of our games for full 20 overs, so we’ve been lucky I’d say. But we can only control what we can control. If the weather tomorrow challenges us or forces us to play a 10-12 overs game, then we’ll respond accordingly.”

“We will play it like it is. You can’t go in thinking about it or planning for it. You don’t know how many overs it will be. So you go in thinking it will be a 20-over game, and you just respond accordingly, so we’ll control it as in when we get there,” said the former India captain in the pre-match press conference.

With rain bringing in chilly weather in Adelaide, it has also resulted in cricketers trying to play their best game on the field, especially with India and Bangladesh coming in from very different climes in the sub-continent.

“Not only for bowling or fielding, it will also be difficult for batting. It will be very difficult to adjust to that (cold weather). But as international players, in our careers, we have played in these kinds of conditions or different to them. They and we know how to manage it. We cannot deny the fact that it is cold, but we have to manage it. Both teams know how to manage it,” said Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan.

In the face of unfavourable weather and conditions, Shakib admitted that his team has no other option but to adjust to the surroundings greeting them at Adelaide Oval. “It is little difficult as we played out first game in Hobart, where it was very cold. For someone especially coming from the subcontinent, it was very cold.

“Then we went to Sydney, which was very nice weather wise. Brisbane was nice too. Now we are getting another (match) in cold weather. So we have to adjust, there is no other option other than to adjust. But I don’t think it will be a problem because we are mentally ready to play the game.”

But Shakib hopes that despite cold weather and rain forecast looming around, there remains scope for his team to enjoy playing the game. “Of course, I think it will be a full house, as we will be playing against India and they good crowd always playing in Australia or anywhere they go. It will be an exciting game and I hope our team will enjoy.”

Indonesia’s inflation eases to 5.71% in Oct

0

Indonesia posted an inflation of 5.71 per cent year-on-year in October, lower than the previous month’s 5.95 per cent year-on-year, official figures revealed on Tuesday.

“The transportation group was the biggest contributor to October inflation, as a continuing impact of increase in fuel prices, which were lower than the previous month,” said Statistics Indonesia.

The government raised fuel costs on September 3, amid high international prices, a move which triggered an increase in commodity expenses in the domestic market, reports Xinhua news agency.

However, Indonesia’s inflation rate has exceeded the central bank’s target of 2 to 4 per cent since June, when the country posted an inflation of 4.35 per cent year-on-year.

The central bank has estimated the country’s inflation will reach 6.3 per cent this year, lower than the previous estimate of 6.6 to 6.7 per cent.

Varun on ‘Bhediya’: This is the wildest character I have played

Actor Varun Dhawan, who has gone through rigorous prep sessions to step into the shoes of a man slowly turning into a mythical wolf, says his latest character in the upcoming creature comedy from ‘Bhediya’ is the wildest character he has ever played.

Varun says, “I agreed to do Bhediya after hearing just the one line idea. I’ve never wanted to let go of the film ever since, and was in constant touch with the producers. This is the wildest character I have played. While it may have been my first foray into the creature comedy genre, Amar had done Stree earlier and was very hands-on with the whole process.”

“My biggest dream as an actor is to entertain through a diverse array of roles. ‘Bhediya’ is the most important addition to that endeavour”.

T20 World Cup: Will see how Karthik pulls up tomorrow morning before making final decision, says Dravid

0

India head coach Rahul Dravid said the side will wait to see how veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik will be fitness-wise on the morning of their crucial Super 12 match against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup at Adelaide before making a final decision on him being in the playing eleven.

In India’s five-wicket loss to South Africa at Perth on Sunday, Karthik had to walk off the field during South Africa’s run-chase of 134 due to a lower back injury. In his absence, Rishabh Pant took up keeping duties for the rest of the match, causing a doubt on Karthik’s availability for Wednesday’s match against Bangladesh at Adelaide Oval.

“He’s pulled up pretty well today. Unfortunately, he had that spasm when he jumped to collect a bouncer and then he landed badly, in a way that he did his back in a little bit. But with treatment and some days, he’s pulled up pretty well this morning. He’s come to training and so, we will be assessing it.

“We will see how it goes and how he pulls up tomorrow morning after a good practice session today. We will put him through his paces and ensure that we have given him a good workout and then see how he pulls up tomorrow morning before making a final decision,” said Dravid in the pre-match press conference.

Karthik made the cut for the T20 World Cup squad after producing some brilliant performances as a specialist finisher for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022. He then made a comeback into the India T20I squad as a designated finisher, where he did put in some sparkling performances in the chances he got.

With the Indian team management choosing to invest in his finishing skills in the shortest format of the game, Karthik hasn’t got enough time in the tournament to apply finishing touches to India’s innings.

He has batted only twice in the tournament, facing two balls against Pakistan, especially while facing spin bowling, which isn’t his forte. Against South Africa, Karthik arrived at the crease before the 10th over and though he shared a 52-run stand with a belligerent Suryakumar Yadav for the sixth wicket, he failed to fire, which was the case with almost all Indian batters.

“Again, tough for someone like DK, to assess how he’s gone. You don’t get to play too many games; he got one ball against Pakistan at the back end and didn’t bat against Netherlands. I thought he was building a pretty good partnership with Surya. At that stage, we needed a really good partnership just to stabilise us.

“It was set up for him, but again that’s the nature of this game. You play that high-risk shot and you can get out on that shot, which is why people need to be supported and backed as much as possibly can in these formats because people, especially in positions like DK batting at five and six, you don’t get enough balls (to play),” stated Dravid.

Though Karthik hasn’t been named in the squad for the three T20Is against New Zealand scheduled immediately after the T20 World Cup ends in Australia, Dravid signed off by saying the current think-tank will continue to back Karthik in coming good as a specialist finisher in the ongoing tournament.

“When you have to go (out) and deliver very high-risk shots without having much time to settle in, our belief has always been to back and support players in those positions. Come the critical time, hopefully he will be in the right frame of mind to play those crunch shots for us.”

US SC hears arguments on use of affirmative action in college admissions

0

The US Supreme Court heard arguments on the use of affirmative action in college admissions.

Affirmative action policies grew out of the civil rights movement in the US during the 1950s and 1960s, under which admissions departments began considering race as a factor when recruiting new students, reports Xinhua news agency.

These policies aimed to accept more students of colour who had historically been excluded from American colleges and universities, while opponents of the decades-long practice have contended that it is reverse discrimination.

The lawsuits were brought forward by Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA), a nonprofit membership group, against admissions policies at the University of North Carolina (UNC) and Harvard University.

Edward Blum, the founder and president of the SFFA, said in a statement on Monday that the high court should forbid race to be a factor in college admissions.

“It is a moral failure that our most competitive universities place high schoolers on racial registers and tell the world that their skin colour affects what they think and know and what they like and don’t like,” Blum argued.

Kevin Guskiewicz, chancellor of the UNC at Chapel Hill, wrote in an opinion that “race is only one aspect of that diversity, but it is critical, and we cannot have the diverse environment we need without taking it into account”.

In a message to members of the Harvard community, Harvard University President Larry Bacow said, “when Harvard assembles a class of undergraduates, it matters that they come from different social, economic, geographical, racial, and ethnic backgrounds”.

A decision from the US Supreme Court — where conservative justices have a 6-3 advantage over liberals — is expected by the summer of next year.

The volume was up 73 per cent while the value of transactions was up 57 per cent (year-over-year).

“UPI has been a game changer in real-time payments and is the most preferred choice of payment. UPI platform recorded 6.8 billion transactions in September 2022 and the festive month gave further boost with transactions reaching 7.3 billion in October,” said Sanjeev Chandak, Co-founder and CEO of fintech platform ftcash.

“Digitisation is enabling India to become a cashless economy and the surge in UPI transactions mirrors this upward trajectory towards digitisation,” he added.

Launched in 2016, UPI crossed 1 billion transactions in October 2019.

In FY23 to date, the UPI has processed 44.32 billion transactions worth Rs 75 trillion.

Nearly 76 per cent Indians now prefer using UPI (unified payments interface) during online checkouts while more millennials (84 per cent) are now using UPI when shopping online, a report showed on Tuesday.

As the physical, digital and virtual worlds are converging, Indians are willing to explore and purchase within apps/browsers as well from the social media platforms, according to new research from financial services technology provider FIS.

“Of these incoming reports, we provided tools for users to resolve their issues in 534 cases,” the company informed.

Of the other 53 reports where specialised review was needed, Meta reviewed content as per its policies, and took action on 21 reports in total.

“The remaining 32 reports were reviewed but may not have been actioned,” said Meta.

For Instagram, the company received 1,115 reports through the Indian grievance mechanism, and responded to 100 per cent of the reports.

“Of these incoming reports, we provided tools for users to resolve their issues in 987 cases. These include pre-established channels to report content for specific violations, self-remediation flows where they can download their data, avenues to address account hacked issues, etc,” said Meta.

Under the new IT Rules 2021, big digital and social media platforms, with more than 5 million users, have to publish monthly compliance reports.

“We measure the number of pieces of content (such as posts, photos, videos or comments) we take action on for going against our standards. Taking action could include removing a piece of content from Facebook or Instagram or covering photos or videos that may be disturbing to some audiences with a warning,” said Meta.

IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said last week that the latest amendment of IT Rules, 2021 will put more due diligence obligations on social media companies.

The Centre has notified new rules under which it will set up appellate panels to redress grievances that users may have against decisions of social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook on hosting contentious content.

The government wants social media platforms to work as partners.
