How the Indian economy benefits from online gambling companies

0

For years, the gambling industry in India has been struggling due to the conservative nature of various political and cultural organisations. Gambling laws have lagged in the country compared to other countries worldwide. Despite this, the country can be termed one of the largest gambling markets worldwide, with operators offering platforms for playing slots, table games and live casino games as Best Casinos India reports. This is confusing because the Indian government hasn’t made major steps towards updating its laws and policies. On the other hand, the country is filled with people who enjoy gambling as a form of entertainment as covered before here.

India comprises several states, and each state has its laws. Most of these laws are subject to The Public Gambling Act of 1867, bringing about some restrictions. Although this law was passed about 150 years ago, it’s still powerful.

Gambling in India remains a controversial issue for some; there are many benefits the country ought to experience for improving regulation. As a country, India would benefit economically and socially by accepting and raising the stringent ban on gambling. Here are some of these benefits:

Earning More Tax Revenue

Some of the existing gambling methods have been subjected to paying income and good and services tax. But, by legalising gambling, the government will start collecting licensing fees. The extra revenue gained from the gambling industry could be used to improve other sectors, such as healthcare and education. The Indian government would do so much with the funds raised from gambling businesses.

Technological Advancement

The gambling industry has seen tremendous changes through technological advancement. The country has also experienced similar changes since most of the best Casinos in India are available online. Most of these casinos have adopted high technologies such as Machine Learning algorithms, Virtual Reality and the adoption of IPV6 network. Generally, these technological advancements have improved the gambling scene in India, and this has started rubbing off on other industries. As a result, India might experience advanced technological changes in future.

Creating Employment and Business Opportunities

The world has experienced major changes, especially in the gambling sector, with many offshore companies enticing Indians to participate in their platforms. By legalising gambling, the government will be allowing its citizens to open and run such operations. With the opening of more gambling platforms, the number of employment opportunities will also increase, and there’ll be the creation of businesses. This will be a great step towards recovering from how the economy was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Diversifying the Tourism Sector

Some countries might still be experiencing tight travel restrictions, but soon tourism will start booming again. People will search for places and countries that can provide them with exciting experiences they couldn’t enjoy during the pandemic. This means that places such as casinos will be flooded with tourists, and as an advantage, this will create even more business opportunities for locals.

Control Black Money Generation

From the gambling business in the past, black money and cricket match-fixing have dominated the coverage of India. The gaming business has always seen an influx and outflow of black money, which has impacted the economy.
So, if internet gambling is allowed, the nation can prevent the flow of such funds and boost the economy.

Regulating Gambling Could Benefit India’s Economy

Even though it still is a controversial topic, reports from analysts show that the legalisation of sports betting and gambling brings many benefits, including increased taxation, better player safety and prevention of money laundering. Therefore, India could experience such benefits by regulating this sector.

The “Offshore Gambling Licenses and Regulated Markets” report shows that regulation is advantageous to both the business and the government. Research also shows that gambling operators must maintain high quality and consumer protection standards. Business is at crossroads with this and will enjoy numerous benefits once India legalises and regulates gambling.

Whatever view you have on gambling, it is clear that growth will continue whether or not everyone chooses to participate in it. As indicated before, recent developments have uncovered numerous inadequacies in India’s current legislation. However, the few changing circumstances call for better solutions that will enable the country to keep up with other countries. Legalising gambling may not be altogether traditional, but it is unquestionably an intriguing and complex answer to India’s current economic problem. And if there is one thing that is always beneficial, it is the act of carefully weighing all available options to make an informed decision.

Summary

More and more people are using the internet nowadays, and there have been major technological advancements worldwide. Indians’ interest in gambling has grown over the years, with most joining offshore platforms. Since smartphones are all over and accessing such platforms isn’t as difficult as it used to be, the business has seen a lot of increase in popularity and income.

Indians have proved to have a great love for betting on sports online, as shown by research, and this desire makes them look for the casinos and bookmakers with the best odds. The industry has also been boosted by the rapid development of software that allows users to perform new tasks daily. All these factors have contributed to a better future for online gambling in India. Now, it’s up to the government to weigh whether the impending benefits of gambling are worth changing some laws. By changing the gambling law, the country will benefit mostly economic-wise by stimulating consumer spending, which can help to boost the economy.

New walking robot design may revolutionise large construction projects in space

0

A team of researchers, including one of Indian origin, has designed a state-of-the-art walking robot to revolutionize large construction projects in space.

In a study, published in the journal Frontiers in Robotics and AI, the research team said they tested the feasibility of the robot for the in-space assembly of a 25m Large Aperture Space Telescope.

“We need to introduce sustainable, futuristic technology to support the current and growing orbital ecosystem,” said co-author Manu Nair from the University of Lincoln.

“As the scale of space missions grows, there is a need for more extensive infrastructures in orbit. Assembly missions in space would hold one of the key responsibilities in meeting the increasing demand,” Nair added.

In this study, the team introduced an innovative, dexterous walking robotic system that can be used in orbit assembly missions. As a use case, the researchers tested the robot to assemble a 25m Large Aperture Space Telescope (LAST).

The researchers proposed a seven degrees-of-freedom fully dexterous end-over-end walking robot (a limbed robotic system that can move along a surface to different locations to perform tasks with seven degrees of motion capabilities), or, in short, an E-Walker.

They conducted an in-depth design engineering exercise to test the robot’s ability to efficiently assemble a 25m LAST in orbit.

The robot was compared to the existing Canadarm2 and the European Robotic Arm on the International Space Station. Additionally, a scaled-down prototype for Earth-analog testing was developed and another design engineering exercise was performed.

“Our analysis shows that the proposed innovative E-Walker design proves to be versatile and an ideal candidate for future in-orbit missions. The E-Walker would be able to extend the life cycle of a mission by carrying out routine maintenance and servicing missions post assembly in space,” Nair said.

Important to execute plans for the team to register more wins, says Neha Goyal

0

India women’s hockey team midfielder Neha Goyal is looking forward to tough matches against some big teams in the FIH Nations Cup 2022 in Valencia, Spain from December 11-17, as game time against them invariably leads to a huge improvement in the side.

India has been drawn in Pool B with Canada, Japan, and South Africa in the Nations Cup 2022, while Pool A comprises Ireland, Italy, and Korea and hosts Spain.

“The Women’s Nations Cup 2022 will see us play some good teams and it will provide us with game time, for which there is no substitute. We have been doing well against big teams consistently in recent years and in Spain, we will aim to do more of the same,” said Neha on Friday.

Neha, who has turned out for the senior team in 115 games so far for India, said “We can’t take any team lightly. Each team is very dangerous in its own way and we will have to play our best hockey so that the team can reach the final rounds. Every match is a new day and the past results will not have any consequence on the present.”

The team will play Canada, Japan, and South Africa once each before the ranking rounds begin. India begins their campaign against Canada and then plays Japan before the South Africans come calling.

“These international matches and the exposure bring us face to face with tough situations and we learn to overcome them and grow. It will only help the team become an even closer-knit unit and that will undoubtedly help us in the future.”

Neha, who is from Haryana, made her debut with the Indian team in 2014 and has scored 17 times, however, she isn’t placing any personal targets just yet.

“For me, it is important that I carry out and execute the plans that chief coach Janneke Schopman puts in place for us. That is at the top of my priority list, helping the team work well together as a unit so that we can win more games and keep building momentum,” she added.

Hrithik Roshan’s favourite cheat meal is ‘samosa’

Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan has opened up about the importance of family, his favorite cheat meal, and the activity, he enjoys indulging in during his free time.

Talking about the importance of family in the actor’s life, he said live on Roposo’s show ‘Red Carpet Premiere: “Family is life. It is what makes me – ME. The family is the people I enjoy my life with and to enjoy that life I go to work.”

“I go to work, build things there and bring it back to my world so that I can enjoy it with my people. Family is the most important for me.”

The actor further emphasized his philosophy of maintaining a work-life balance and having a strong mindset of not mixing family and work.

Pointing out that ‘Vikram Vedha marks Hrithik’s 25th film as an actor, he was asked about his favorite on-screen character.

Hrithik said: “Very very difficult question. If I had to say which character I had the most fun doing, that would be a tough choice between Kabir (War 2019) and Vedha (Vikram Vedha 2022). They both were equally stimulating.”

Speaking about the activity he enjoys indulging in during his free time, Hrithik said: “I like to read in my free time. I love finding a place where I can just sit and read. When I read it means that I am stressed free, I can’t read if I’m in character for my films or attending to work commitments. I can only read when my mind is absolutely free. It’s an activity that I cherish.”

Hrithik who is known to be a disciplined fitness enthusiast spoke about his favorite food & go-to cheat meal.

“It has got to be samosa, and specifically the ones that you get in theatres. It’s amazing how many I can eat at one time,” said the actor.

The actor was seen at his candid best as he named and proceeded to sing one of his favorite songs – ‘Gore gore banke chhore’ sung by Amirbai Karnataki & Lata Mangeshkar from the 1950 film ‘Samadhi’.

Signing off, Hrithik shared: “My next film is Fighter. It is starting in November and is directed by Siddharth Anand. Currently, I’m prepping for the film and I’m confused & uncertain about what can I do with my character. The search is on.”

Lucy spacecraft set to swing by Earth to reach Jupiter asteroids

0

A NASA spacecraft named Lucy, the first mission to the Jupiter Trojan asteroids, will skim the earth’s atmosphere, passing a mere 350 km above the surface on October 16, to gain some of the orbital energy it needs to travel to this never-before-visited population of asteroids.

The Trojan asteroids are trapped in orbits around the Sun at the same distance as Jupiter, either far ahead of or behind the giant planet.

Lucy is currently one year into a 12-year voyage and this gravity assist will place it on a new trajectory for a two-year orbit, at which time it will return to Earth for a second gravity assist, NASA said in a statement.

This second assist will give Lucy the energy it needs to cross the main asteroid belt, where it will observe asteroid ‘Donaldjohanson’, and then travel into the leading Trojan asteroid swarm.

There, Lucy will fly past six Trojan asteroids: Eurybates and its satellite Queta, Polymele and its yet unnamed satellite, Leucus, and Orus.

Lucy will then return to Earth for a third gravity assist in 2030 to re-target the spacecraft for a rendezvous with the Patroclus-Menoetius binary asteroid pair in the trailing Trojan asteroid swarm, according to the space agency.

Lucy’s trajectory will bring the spacecraft very close to Earth, lower even than the International Space Station, which means that Lucy will pass through a region full of earth-orbiting satellites and debris.

To ensure the safety of the spacecraft, NASA developed procedures to anticipate any potential hazard and, if needed, to execute a small maneuver to avoid a collision.

“The Lucy team has prepared two different maneuvers. If the team detects that Lucy is at risk of colliding with a satellite or piece of debris, then, 12 hours before the closest approach to Earth, the spacecraft will execute one of these, altering the time of closest approach by either two or four seconds,” said Coralie Adam, Lucy deputy navigation team chief from KinetX Aerospace in Simi Valley, California.

This is a small correction, but it is enough to avoid a potentially catastrophic collision, Adam added.

Lucy will be passing the Earth at such a low altitude that the team had to include the effect of atmospheric drag when designing this flyby.

“In the original plan, Lucy was actually going to pass about 30 miles closer to the Earth,” said Rich Burns, Lucy’s project manager at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Lucy will then rapidly recede from the Earth’s vicinity, passing by the Moon and taking a few more calibration images before continuing out into interplanetary space.

David Warner injured; unlikely to play third T20I against England: Report

0

Australia batting stalwart David Warner is an injury concern ahead of the third and final T20 International against England at the Manuka Oval here later on Friday, with Steve Smith likely to replace him at the top of the order.

Warner had contributed 73 and 4 runs coming in to open in the two T20Is against the visitors. Aaron Finch’s Australia has lost the three-match series after Jos Buttler’s side won both games by eight runs to take an unassailable lead in the series, which is crucial for both teams in the run-up to the ICC T20 World Cup beginning in just a few days.

‘The Australian’ writer Peter Lalor told SEN 1170 Afternoons on Friday that Warner, 35, had suffered a “whiplash injury” that could spoil his lead-in to the T20 World Cup at home.

“They would’ve hoped I felt to have their full team tonight. My mail is I can reveal exclusively that Warner is unlikely to play. He kind of got whiplash in a fielding incident in the previous game. My mail is he’s not going great, they can always get around on the field if they had to, but I’m not sure they’ll take that risk,” said Lalor.

“Standby, because you might see Steve Smith open tonight.”

Following the series against England, Australia will take on India on Monday in Brisbane in their warm-up game before their tournament begins against New Zealand next Saturday at the SCG.

Union Berlin snatch late win over Malmo in UEFA Europa League

0

Robin Knoche’s late winner secured Bundesliga leaders Union Berlin a vital 1-0 victory over Sweden’s Malmo FF in UEFA Europa League Group D on Thursday.

After an unspectacular first half, Union started the second half brightly and produced the first chance of the game after Rani Khedira rattled the post with a hammer from 20 meters in the 63rd minute.

Union increased the pressure and had another chance on target moments later when Ismael Diawara had to save Jordan Siebatcheu’s backheeled attempt from very close range, reports Xinhua.

The hosts eventually broke the deadlock through Knoche after Malmo’s Emmanuel Lomotey brought down Kevin Behrens inside the box.

Things went from bad to worse a couple of minutes later for Malmo as the visitors had to conclude the match with ten men after Lomotey saw a straight red card for a reckless challenge against Sheraldo Becker.

“We didn’t play well in the first half. The second half was better. We stayed calm and rewarded ourselves in the end. We knew we wouldn’t get many chances, but we kept trying,” said Union captain Christopher Trimmel.

Meanwhile in the UEFA Conference League, Israeli club Hapoel Beer Sheva and Polish champions Lech Poznan drew 1-1 on the fourth matchday of Group C on Thursday evening.

Following the draw, Poznan has five points and remains in second place, while Beer Sheva stays third with three points.

Villarreal, who achieved an away 1-0 win over Austria Wien earlier in the evening, have reached the full 12 points, securing first place in the group and a spot in the round of 16 to be played in March. The Austrians remain in fourth place with one point.

11,654 fans at the Toto Turner Stadium saw home striker Tomer Hemed score from the penalty spot in the ninth minute after Poznan’s Joel Pereira had brought down Shay Elias.

Hemed almost doubled the lead in the 37th minute with a header, but the ball hit the crossbar.

Poznan evened the scores in the 44th minute thanks to striker Filip Szymczak, after a headed pass by Filip Dagerstal.

The score remained the same until the end, after a calm second half without serious scoring chances.

Beer Sheva will next play against Villarreal in Spain, while Poznan will play in Austria, with both matches to be played on October 27.

PhonePe enables Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform for UPI

0

India’s leading FinTech platform PhonePe on Friday announced the enablement of the UPI Unified Dispute and Issue Resolution (UDIR) system. This has led to a significant improvement in the dispute resolution time on PhonePe.

UDIR is an automated, single-channel redressal system designed to seamlessly address customer issues and complaints regarding pending transactions and provide speedy dispute resolution online instead of manual file-based processes.

“From the early days of UPI launch over 6 years back to now, there has been a consistent focus on improving the success rates and transaction experience by the entire ecosystem driven by NPCI. We would like to thank the RBI for introducing the Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) functionality which has further strengthened consumers’ belief in UPI,” Deep Agrawal, Head, of Payments, PhonePe, said in a statement.

“We are already seeing the benefit translate into higher customer NPS. This fosters transparency and helps nurture a deeper trust in the current payment infrastructure, which is the ultimate stepping stone for scaling the ecosystem towards deeper financial access and inclusion,” Agrawal added.

The Complaint Management System allows customers to raise a complaint directly through the PhonePe app, which is then assigned to the relevant bank/PSP involved in the transaction through an automated manner for resolution.

There are three functionalities enabled currently through UDIR.

Status finalization for pending transactions — post implementation of UDIR, we are seeing about a 50 percent improvement in resolution time.

Confirmation of refund credit to the remitters’ bank account in case of failed transactions. The ability for consumers to raise complaints can be resolved in an automated manner by the respective banks/PSPs.

Instagram brings new age verification test to Indian users

0

Meta-owned Instagram has brought its new test for users to verify their age via an original ID or video selfie to India, amid growing worries that kids are using fake dates of birth to create profiles on social media platforms.

If someone attempts to edit their date of birth on Instagram from under the age of 18 to 18, or over, in India, the company will now require them to verify their age using one of two options: upload their ID or record a video selfie.

“We’re testing this so we can make sure teens and adults are in the right experience for their age group. Testing began in June this year in the US, and now it’s expanding to India and Brazil,” the company said.

The company plans to expand the test to the UK and the EU before the end of the year.

“We’re also removing Social Vouching as an option to verify age from the test to make some improvements,” Instagram added.

The Social Vouching option allowed users to ask mutual followers to confirm how old they were. The three people they selected to vouch for them received a request to confirm their age and needed to respond within three days.

Now, those part of the test can choose to upload a video selfie to verify their age in India.

“If you choose this option, you’ll see instructions on your screen to guide you. After you take a video selfie, we share the image with Yoti, and nothing else. Yoti’s technology estimates your age based on your facial features and shares that estimate with us,” according to Instagram.

Yoti is a company that offers privacy-preserving ways to verify age.

“Meta and Yoti then delete the image. The technology cannot recognize your identity – just your age,” it added.

The company requires people to be at least 13 years old to sign up for Instagram.

Earlier this week, the UK’s media watchdog Ofcom said that more than one-third of children between the ages of 8 and 17 are using various social media platforms after signing up with fake dates of birth.

“Our latest research shows that most (77 percent) social media users aged between eight and 17 have their own account or profile on at least one of the large social media platforms,” Ofcom said in a statement.

Twitter to soon allow users ability to control who can tag them in tweets

0

Twitter is working on a new feature that will allow users to control who can mention them in their tweets, not letting anyone to tag or mention your Twitter handle with their posts unless you want them to.

The feature, when it arrives, will make a fundamental shift in how people mention and tag others with their posts on the platform.

App researcher Jane Manchun Wong first spotted the test version of the feature, saying “Twitter is working on letting you control who can mention you on Twitter”.

Twitter privacy designer Dominic Camozzi confirmed that the feature is in the works but later deleted the tweet.

The feature will let you control who can mention you, like people you follow, everyone, or no one at all.

The feature will prevent Twitter users from bullying or harassment.

In August, the company launched Twitter Circle which allows people the flexibility to choose who can see and engage with their content on a Tweet-by-Tweet basis.

This makes it easier to have more intimate conversations and build closer connections with select followers.

Before you post on Twitter, you’ll now see an option to share your Tweet with either your circle or your full follower list. Circles can contain up to 150 people, and you can adjust who’s in and who’s out at any time.

“Don’t worry, no one will be notified of any changes you make to your circle,” said Twitter.

43% of Indians not willing to pay extra for 5G services: Report

0

As India rolls out 5G services at some locations in select cities, 43 percent of those willing to switch to 5G are not willing to pay anything more than the current tariff for 3G or 4G services, a report showed on Friday.

While many more smartphone users are likely to come on board if the shift to 5G addresses issues like call drop/connect, network availability, and low speed, another 43 percent indicated they are willing to pay up to 10 percent extra tariff, according to the report by online community platform LocalCircles.

Just 2 percent of them showed a willingness to pay between 25-50 percent more tariff for 5G.

As against 4G speeds of 40-50 Mbps depending on the area and connectivity in India, 5G services are expected to support speeds of 300 Mbps or more.

To begin with, Reliance Jio and Airtel have identified Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Varanasi, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jamnagar, Gandhinagar, Mumbai, Pune, Lucknow, Kolkata, Siliguri, Gurugram and Hyderabad for the first phase of launch.

According to the report, just 5 percent of mobile subscribers surveyed are ready to move to 5G in 2022.

While 20 percent surveyed said they already have a 5G device, another 4 percent are likely to get one this year.

Another 20 percent said they are likely to purchase a 5G device in 2023.

Out of more than 500 million smartphone users in India, about 100 million are expected to have a 5G-ready device by the end of this year.

Nearly 24 percent of respondents shared that they have no plans to buy a newly upgraded device in the foreseeable future, while another 22 percent are yet to make up their minds, the findings showed.

The Department of Telecommunication met with the operators as well as phone makers earlier this week to update the government about their plans so that the 5G roll-out can happen at the earliest.

Samsung said that they are working with their operator partners and are committed to rolling out OTA updates across all its 5G devices by mid-November, Apple said that it will start rolling out 5G to iPhone users in December.

The majority of mobile subscribers expect that upgrading to 5G service will lead to a reduction in call drop/connect issues, better network availability, and speed

Shruti Haasan says she got her broken nose fixed after first film

Actress Shruti Haasan, who is busy with her film ‘Salaar’, recently admitted to having done a nose job. The actress shared that she had a broken nose and getting to fix her nose is her right. She said that after doing her first film with the old nose, she chose to do the surgery.

While talking to ‘Hauterfly’ magazine, the actress said, “I did get my nose fixed and it was very obvious I got my nose fixed. My nose was broken and quite different from before and I did my first film with my old nose.

She also revealed how people taunted her by saying that she was using deviated septum as an excuse to fix her nose.

She further mentioned, “And people are like she’s just using the deviated septum excuse. No, I did have a deviated septum, it hurt. But if I could make it prettier, it’s my face, why wouldn’t I? It was that simple.”

In addition, she also spoke about getting fillers and said that it is her body and those who want to do something to it or don’t want to do something, it is their choice just like it was hers.

Women’s Asia Cup: Sri Lanka to face India in final after edging Pakistan by one run in last-ball thriller

0

Sri Lanka on Thursday edged Pakistan by one run in a last-ball thriller of the second semifinal of the Women’s Asia Cup at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS) on Thursday to set up a meeting with India in the final of the multi-nation event on Saturday.

Needing nine runs to win from the last over, which became three runs off the final ball, Nida Dar was run-out while attempting to take a second run, as Pakistan managed to make 121/6 in their 20 overs, falling just a run short of Sri Lanka’s 122/6 in 20 overs.

Electing to bat first, though captain Chamari Athapaththu fell for ten early in the innings, other batters stepped up when it mattered the most. There was a 50-run partnership between Harshitha Madavi (35 off 41 balls, one four) and Nilakshi de Silva (14 off 27 balls) for the third wicket.

Apart from the duo, opener Anushka Sanjeewani made 26 off 21 balls, which included one four and one six. For Pakistan, left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu bagged figures of 3/17 while spinners Sadia Iqbal, Nida Dar, and right-arm fast bowler Aiman Anwer took one wicket each.

Chasing 123, Pakistan’s openers Muneeba Ali and Sidra Amin shared a 31-run stand, before the former ran herself out on the first ball of the fourth over. Captain Bismah Maroof joined Sidra and the pair added a 16-run partnership for the second wicket before the latter gave a catch to a diving short third man while playing a reverse sweep off Inoka Ranaweera on the last ball of the seventh over.

Pakistan was in a spot of bother when they lost Omaima Sohail in the 11th over. But Bismah joined forces with Nida for a 42-run stand for the fourth wicket. Bismah was going strong and leading the chase for her team before being castled for 42 off 41 balls, laced with four fours.

Bismah’s dismissal gave a ray of hope to Sri Lanka to make a comeback in the match. They did make full use of that chance and restricted Pakistan to 121/6, with Nida making a run-a-ball 26, and hitting one four, but couldn’t her team to the final of the Women’s Asia Cup. For Sri Lanka, Inoka bagged 2/17, while Sugandika Kumari and Kavisha Dilhari had a scalp each as the side entered the Women’s Asia Cup final after 14 years.

Brief Scores:

Sri Lanka 122/6 in 20 overs (Harshitha Madavi 35, Anushka Sanjeewani 26; Nashra Sandhu 3/17) beat Pakistan 121/6 in 20 overs (Bismah Maroof 42, Nida Dar 26; Inoka Ranaweera 2/17) by one run

India IT spending shows resilience despite global headwinds: Report

0

Despite strong global headwinds, Indian IT spending is expected to grow by 13.8 percent this year, down from 25.3 percent in 2021, an IDC report said on Thursday.

The overall drop in IT spending growth considers the recovery sentiment pervasive in Q1 2022 and the drag due to the weakening economic scenario in Q2 onwards.

According to the report, the contraction in IT spending is due to reduced consumer technology spending. Enterprise technology spending is stable as enterprises continue to protect their budgets and are managing by reallocating resources to needed items.

“Based on the current forecast of a mild global recession, we expect IT spending of Indian enterprises to demonstrate resilience in the short term,” said Vinay Gupta, Research Director, IT Spending Guides, IDC Asia/Pacific.

“Indian enterprises continue to focus on their digital innovation initiatives, business operations resiliency, and customer experience programs. However, enterprises are keeping a sharp eye on global events,” he added.

The post-pandemic recovery of the Indian economy in late 2021 and early 2022 faced multiple headwinds. Inflation, global geopolitical tensions, devaluation of the rupee against the US dollar, a slowdown in global growth, and increasing interest rates are risks to economic growth.

“The risk of recession worldwide has continued to rise amid increasing inflation and the expectation of a tightening monetary policy. The Indian economy faces similar challenges and enterprises are turning cautious during these uncertain times,” said the IDC.

Expectations are that India’s GDP growth will be at risk in 2023 given the global headwinds, slowing down IT spending growth.

A lot will depend on RBI’s monetary policy going forward and the government’s public CAPEX push, industrial capacity utilization, and improvement in the infrastructure sector said the report.

The only player from the Khelo India University Games 2022 to be picked for the vivo Pro Kabaddi League Season 9, Jai Bhagwan has set the stage on fire with his performances for U Mumba in their opening two matches at the Shree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru.

The 18-year-old raider has scored 11 points in the competition so far. However, Bhagwan has fought through immense hardship in the lead-up to the vivo Pro Kabaddi League.

Speaking about his journey post being part of the Gold Medal-winning Kota University team at the Khelo India University Games 2022, Bhagwan said, “It was a difficult time for us when my father passed away. I had reduced my practice sessions that time, but my elder brother told me to keep practicing and keep working hard.”

The raider further added, “My father wanted to watch me play on television. I have fulfilled one of his dreams. He also wanted me to play for India. My mother was very happy to watch me on television.”

When asked about how he has been able to put up scintillating performances right from the word go, the player from Rajasthan said, “First, I played in the Khelo India University Games in April-May this year. Then we trained really well during our pre-season camp. Our coach told us not to be worried about anything. I have been able to play freely in the Vivo PKL season because of the U Mumba management.”

Bhagwan also said, “I am really happy to be playing in the Vivo Pro Kabaddi League. And I am even happier to be part of the U Mumba team because this franchise’s management is really good. I was a bit nervous before my first game, but our coach gave me confidence.”

The raider also expressed how he stumbled upon the game of kabaddi, “I used to play Kho kho in the beginning then I changed schools. In my new school, kabaddi was being played and that’s where I attained an interest in the game. The PT teacher at my school took us for different tournaments and then I kept rising through the ranks.”

Jai Bhagwan will be next seen in action when U Mumba takes on Tamil Thalaivas on Friday.
