Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s maiden venture as a producer, Subham, is all set to make its digital debut. Following its successful theatrical run, the horror-comedy will premiere on Jio Hotstar on June 13, 2025, expanding its reach to a wider pan-Indian audience.

Helmed by Praveen Kandregula, the film features a promising young cast including Harshith Reddy, Gavireddy Srinivas, Charan Peri, Shriya Kontham, Shravani Lakshmi, and Shalini Kondepudi in key roles. The narrative blends horror with light-hearted comedy, striking a chord with youth and family audiences alike.

Interestingly, Samantha also makes a special cameo appearance in the film, which adds to the excitement for her fans. Produced under the Tralala Moving Pictures banner, Subham is backed by Shor Police’s peppy songs and an engaging background score by Vivek Sagar.

Tollywood’s Growing Dependence on OTT Platforms: A Boon or a Bane?

In today’s entertainment landscape, it’s evident that OTT platforms have taken a commanding lead in the satellite and digital distribution space, leaving Tollywood producers increasingly reliant on them.

Historically, Telugu cinema producers enjoyed multiple revenue streams — theatrical box office, satellite rights, digital streaming, and music rights — which collectively sustained the industry’s financial ecosystem. Senior producer and distributor Suniel Narang recently highlighted this trend with his film Kubera. Originally slated for a June 20 theatrical release, Kubera faced pressure from Amazon Prime Video over delays in production. The platform reportedly warned that a postponement could reduce their payment by ₹10 crore, forcing producers to adhere strictly to OTT release schedules.
