Rohit Sharma Discusses Skipping T20 Internationals for India
Rohit Sharma has addressed his absence from the T20 team, explaining that it’s not feasible for certain players to participate in all formats of the game, particularly with the 2023 ODI World Cup approaching.
He emphasized that the ongoing year is focused on the 50-over World Cup, and for several players, juggling all formats simultaneously isn’t viable. Given the packed schedule and consecutive matches, the decision to manage the players’ workload and provide them with adequate rest was made.
The topic of workload management has been a significant subject of discussion within Indian cricket. The fitness and conditioning of prominent players like Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, and others are closely monitored, especially in light of the forthcoming ODI World Cup.
In light of this, the T20I team has introduced fresh faces into the mix, featuring players such as Ravi Bishnoi and Mukesh Kumar, who have been given opportunities to participate.
