India to begin their home series from the 15th of September against South Africa in Dharamshala.
Shubman Gill has been named in India’s 15-man squad for the three-match Test series against South Africa, the selectors have announced on Thursday (September 12). KL Rahul will not feature in the upcoming test-series due to a lack of form. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has been confirmed as an opener for the series by the selection committee chairman MSK Prasad.
KL Rahul has been struggled for form after his Ton against England at the oval.even in his previous test Rahul failed to convert the starts into big runs. Rahul hasn’t scored a half-century since the oval hundred.
Subhuman gill who was picked in the side for the first time scored 90 and 5 on the ongoing tests verses the SA-A. Gill has featured in 14 first-class games and has scored 1443 runs at an average of 72.15 with four centuries to his name. gill, however, made his ODI debut against New Zealand couldn’t make most of the opportunity.
Jasprit Bumrah is all set to play his first Test on the home soil. while Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami are the other fast bowlers alongside Bumrah. R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav will be the lead spinners while Pant will play as the first-choice ‘stumper’. Saha will continue as the reserve Wk batsman.
Rohit will lead the Board President’s XI in the three-day warm-up game against South Africa that includes P Panchal, Easwaran, Karun Nair, and Siddhesh Lad as well. Umesh Yadav, who was dropped from the Test squad, will be part of the warm-up setup. Avesh Khan, Ishan Porel and Shardul Thakur are the other pacers who feature for the match to be played in Vizag from September 26.
The first Test of the test series will be played in Visakhapatnam from the 2nd of October before the teams move to Pune for the second Test of the series from October 10. The final game of the series will take place in Ranchi from October 19.
