Salman Khan’s much-delayed war drama Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace may have moved a step closer to its theatrical release. The film, which was initially announced under the title Battle of Galwan, has reportedly received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from officials of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, according to a report by Bollywood Hungama.
The project has faced delays amid reported concerns over its content and the need for revisions. Initially centred on the India-China conflict in the Galwan Valley, the film reportedly underwent changes to both its title and narrative following government intervention. The makers are said to have revised the storyline to present India-China relations in a more positive light.
According to the report, officials from the I&B Ministry are satisfied with the latest version submitted by the filmmakers and have granted the necessary NOC. This development could pave the way for the film to move forward in the approval process, although its theatrical release date has not yet been announced.
The next major step for Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace is clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Once the film receives the required certification, the makers can proceed with plans for its release in cinemas.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film features Salman Khan in the lead role, with Chitrangada Singh playing the female lead. Given the prolonged delay and the changes reportedly made to the project, audiences will be watching closely for an official announcement regarding its certification and release date.
While the reported NOC marks a potential breakthrough for the film, confirmation of its final release schedule is still awaited.
