Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated action entertainer King is generating significant buzz, not just for its star cast but also for its massive pre-release business. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film has reportedly secured impressive deals across theatrical and non-theatrical distribution platforms.
According to industry reports, King has been made on a budget of approximately Rs. 400 crore, excluding Shah Rukh Khan’s remuneration. Once his acting fee is included, the overall production cost could reportedly reach Rs. 500 crore.
The film’s theatrical rights have reportedly been sold for Rs. 425 crore, with overseas rights accounting for Rs. 175 crore and domestic theatrical rights contributing Rs. 250 crore.
The non-theatrical deals have further strengthened its pre-release business. Netflix has reportedly acquired the digital streaming rights for Rs. 150 crore, while music rights have fetched Rs. 65 crore and satellite rights around Rs. 25 crore.
With these reported deals, King has generated substantial revenue before its theatrical release. However, the film is said to need approximately Rs. 665 crore to reach its estimated safe zone, underlining the huge expectations surrounding this Shah Rukh Khan starrer.
King is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 24, 2026. Its box-office performance will determine whether it can live up to the enormous expectations created by its pre-release business.
