SP and RLD want a ban on “Adipurush” and an apology from the producers

The Samajwadi Party (SP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) have formed an alliance to oppose the film ‘Adipurush‘ and are calling for a ban on the movie as well as an apology from its makers. Both parties have criticized the film for its “cheap and superficial dialogues” and accused it of promoting a hidden agenda. The SP has also targeted the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in connection with this issue.

Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party, stated that the Censor Board should scrutinize the “political character certificate” of individuals who manipulate people’s faith for their agenda by making films funded by their political masters. He also questioned whether the Censor Board has become visually impaired, likening it to Dhritarashtra from Hindu mythology.

Shivpal Yadav, the national general secretary of the SP, expressed concerns about attempts to demean the revered and inspiring character of Lord Ram and his story through cinema, using what he called “cheap and superficial dialogues.” He demanded an apology from BJP leaders who identify as followers of Sanatan Dharma (a term referring to Hinduism) for the offense caused to millions of faithful followers.

Swami Prasad Maurya, another national general secretary of the SP who previously courted controversy over caste discrimination allegations in the epic Ramcharitmanas, criticized the BJP and the movie’s creators for using indecent language that he considered an insult to Sanatan Dharma. He questioned why those who had threatened him with beheading remained silent in this case, suggesting a double standard based on caste.

The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has demanded an immediate ban on the Adipurush movie, stating that it mocks the Ramayana (a Hindu epic) and hurts religious sentiments. The party’s spokesperson called for an apology from the Adipurush movie makers for tampering with religious texts and culture.
