Spider-Man: Brand New Day has taken the global box office by storm, rewriting several records with its phenomenal opening. After registering the biggest opening ever for a Hollywood film in India, the superhero blockbuster maintained its momentum over the weekend, collecting more than Rs. 300 crore gross worldwide.
Despite its sensational performance, Spider-Man: Brand New Day could not set a new opening weekend record for an English film in the Telugu states. While many expected Avengers: Endgame to hold the benchmark, trade reports reveal that James Cameron’s blockbuster Avatar: The Way of Water continues to lead the charts with the highest opening weekend collections in the Telugu states.
Avatar: The Way of Water also remains the highest-grossing Hollywood film in the Telugu states, having earned over Rs. 100 crore during its theatrical run. It remains to be seen whether Spider-Man: Brand New Day can challenge that remarkable milestone in the coming days.
On the global front, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has delivered one of the biggest openings in cinema history, emerging as the second-highest global opener of all time, trailing only Avengers: Endgame.
