Suriya’s much-awaited film Scene arrived in theatres yesterday, but its opening in the Telugu states has been below expectations. Directed by Aavesham fame Jithu Madhavan, the crime comedy received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics. Naslen plays the antagonist in the film.
According to trade reports, Scene collected around Rs. 3.5 crore gross on its opening day in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The film struggled to secure the desired number of screens due to its clash with Ramayana. However, even in the available theatres, audience occupancy was reportedly not encouraging.
The film needs a significant jump in collections over the coming days to move closer to its reported break-even target of Rs. 30 crore gross in the Telugu states. Its box-office performance from today onwards will be crucial in determining its theatrical prospects.
Nazriya Fahadh plays the female lead in this big-ticket entertainer. The film is jointly produced by Suriya, Jithu Madhavan and Zhagaram Studios, with Sushin Shyam composing the music.
