Right from the day, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced his ‘Padmavathi’ project, the Karni Sena, and many Rajput based groups have protested against the film. At times, the shootings were also interrupted. But Bhansali continued with the film, with a brave heart. Even just before the release of the film, the protests took a violent turn. Despite the reluctance from Central Government and few BJP-led state governments, Bhansali went ahead and got the permission from the Supreme court.
The film gathered international fame upon its release. Meanwhile, in a Rajput Mahasabha, the protestors have come to the decision of killing Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In fact, the All India Brajmandal Kshatriya Rajput put a bounty of Rs. 51 lakhs on Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Besides, it is the same organization that announced Rs. 1 crore to those who chop-off Deepika Padukone’s ears and nose.
People thought that, upon the film’s release, the protests would subside. But shockingly, the protests took a violent turn. Government and private security forces are providing security to film unit. Overall, Padmavathi has been the center of controversies right from its first day.
