Time Inc. known for its world famous magazine publications like TIMES, People and Sports Illustrated has sold for it’s to the Meredith Corporation owned by the billionaire brother Edwin Thomas Meredith Jr. and Mildred Marie Meredith. The deal is slated to be an anall-cash transaction. The $3 Billion deal comes as a shocking surprise to the press and media publication outlets across the globe.
Time Inc. became the core of New York City and is by far the most-celebrated publication houses in the history of the nation. This deal could represent the beginning of the end of a history publication house like Time Inc. and will open doors to a new line of ‘unexpected’ publications in the coming years.
The all-cash deal went ahead after an infusion of $650 Million from a private equity firm. The whole world eagerly waits for December 6th every year to find out the ‘Person of the Year’, published by the TIMES Magazine on its cover.
It would be a challenging task for the Meredith Corporation to keep with the portfolio of Time Inc. weekly publications. The company representative said that the deal with Time Inc. will fetch them $400 Million to $500 Million in cost savings in its first two years.
