Yash-starrer Toxic is facing a noticeable slowdown at the box office following its mixed-to-negative reception. While the film has been appreciated for its visuals and technical presentation, criticism surrounding the execution, characterisation and overall narrative has affected its theatrical momentum.
IMAX Shows Being Replaced
The drop in occupancies has reportedly resulted in several IMAX shows being replaced by Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. A number of IMAX screens have already started showcasing the highly anticipated Hollywood epic, while more theatres are expected to make the switch in the coming days.
The development has also pushed The Odyssey back into the spotlight on BookMyShow, with the film once again gaining traction among moviegoers.
Awarapan 2 Gets More Screens in North India
The screen reshuffle is not limited to premium formats. In parts of North India, some regular screens that were showing Toxic are reportedly being allocated to Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2, particularly at locations where the Yash-starrer is recording weak occupancies.
With competition increasing and screen counts gradually changing, Toxic now faces a challenging phase in its theatrical run. Its performance over the next few days will determine how well it can hold on to screens amid the arrival of other major releases.
