Unfolding the antibiotic resistance as one of the most significant global health issues, a US representative on Monday said it was a key area for US-India association.

“Antibiotic resistance is one of the most important global health issues of our times. Global cooperation to tackle antimicrobial resistance is required and is a key spot for US India collaboration for me and my health team across the US mission in India,” US Ambassador to India Kenneth I. Juster said at a program here.

Antibiotic resistance key area for US-India ties: Juster

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) tied with the US Consulate here in establishing India’s first National Antimicrobial Resistance Hub in Kolkata on Monday.

“A predicted 7,00,000 people die each year worldwide due to drug-resistant diseases. We must come jointly to gather all the data, put it together and study it to stop these deaths,” said Henk Jan Bekedam, Country Representative to India, World Health Organization.

According to a review conducted by the WHO in the year 2015 in India, 75 percent of respondents undergo the wrong notions that cold and flu can be treated with antibiotics and only 58 percent identified they should stop taking antibiotics only when they have completed the course.

ICMR Director Balram Bhargava said the Kolkata capability will be the hub where all study on antibiotic resistance will be passed out not only for the country but also for South Asia.

Pant Needs To Be Fearless But Not Careless Reckons Vikram Rathour

The dashing wicket-keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant has managed only four scores more than 30 in his 18-match T20I streak so far, but the Delhi left-hander can take some support from the fact that Rohit Sharma, arguably the best white-ball player in International cricket, had only five such scores at the same stage of his career, and it was the Rohit Sharma whom Pant choose out to seek guidance after a practice session on Tuesday.

Pant has had worse times than few good times in the T20I’s for India, with his last nine games in T20I’s seeing him score less than five with the lone 65 in 6 attempts.
As the Indian cricket team gets prepared to face South Africa in the second T20I at the Mohali on Wednesday, the coaching staff and the team management would hope Pant patience and consistency in his batting and also replicate the IPL performances in international cricket.

Pant Needs To Be Fearless But Not Careless Reckons Vikram Rathour

With the team management trusting in Pant’s wicket-keeping abilities as well for this home season, newly appointed batting coach Vikram Rathour advised him to think of the reckless shots he played in the past before taking guard.

“I think he is an exceptional player. There is no doubt about that. But what he needs to do is to sort his game plan. He needs to be more disciplined and all the young players like him need to realize that there is a fine line between fearless cricket and careless cricket. What the team management is asking from them is to be fearless. About having a clear game plan and playing with intent. The focus should be batting to your strength and at the same time, one cannot be careless. I am sure they have started to understand that,” Vikram Rathour reckoned.

Talking of careless batting, the pant has been playing some reckless shots in recent times. Rathour reckons Pant needs to exploit his strokeplay to get the best out of his game.

“Of course we want Rishabh to play all his shots. He needs to be dynamic because that’s what makes him special. He is an impact player. At the same time, he cannot be careless. That’s all. He needs to understand the difference between that,” Rathour replied when asked about Rishab Pant.

Meanwhile, India will lock horns against South Africa in the 2nd T20I on September 18, Wednesday in Mohali.

Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan Draws Report on Jagan Govt’s Failures in First 100 Days

Amaravati: Jana Sena party president Pawan Kalyan on Saturday attacked the Andhra Pradesh government, alleging several failures of Jaganmohan Reddy’s 100-day rule.

Kalyan drew a 33-page report, which accused the government of ruling the state without proper planning in the first 100 days since the present government came to power.

The Jana Sena party chief alleged that the government had failed to implement sand policy, and had done nothing to attract investment. Moreover, he said that the Polavaram national irrigation project, touted to be the largest irrigation facility once completed, stands unfinished. Development of the state capital Amaravati was far from satisfactory and the health sector neglected, Kalyan added.

Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan Draws Report on Jagan Govt's Failures in First 100 Days

The actor-turned-politician targeted the government’s ambiguity over the development of Amaravati, saying, “The government has failed to grow confidence in the local farmers who gave their lands for the development of the capital. The issue of Amaravati is not of 23,000 acres, but the farmers who gave their land.” He further questioned the state government’s expenditure of Rs 800 crore that had already been invested in developing Amaravati.

He also took issue with the Jagan government’s approach towards the prohibition of liquor. On the one hand, the government had discouraged income through liquor sales, while the latest reports show that beer sales have shot up by 13 percent.

In his series of complaints, Kalyan also mentioned that more than 20 lakh people had lost their livelihoods due to the delay in implementing the sand policy.

He attacked the ruling party, saying that it had no transparency or vision. The YSRCP’s Navaratnalus, nine large-scale welfare programs, he said were people-friendly, although the administration itself was not.

“The government had conducted an Investment Conclave, but its policies threatened local industrialists. How will investments come in this situation,” he said.

He also took pot-shots at the initiative of establishing village secretariats through volunteers. “These volunteers have been employed as poll agents of the YSRCP for political gains in the next elections,” Kalyan alleged.

The current revenue deficit in Andhra was incapable of ensuring the influx of Rs 50,000 crore for carrying out the provisions of the YSR Congress’ poll manifesto, he pointed out.

The Jana Sena chief also said that the government had failed to control the law and order situation, that schools were not equipped with adequate infrastructure, and that seasonal diseases were not under control.

The chief minister’s dashboard does not carry any information about the finance ministry; the government’s cancellation of power purchase agreements (PPAs) despite the Centre’s objections; the confusion over the future of Amaravati as state capital were among other shortcomings of the state government, according to Pawan Kalyan.

Amit Shah Took A Dig At Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh

Home Minister of the nation Amit Shah on Tuesday said that most of the governments can implement some of the decisions only when they are in power for more than 30 years but the NDA government has dared to take many historic decisions in just 6 years.

Amit Shah said there will be a “no-tolerance” on the national protection and attacked the strategy of the former Congress government. He said before the BJP government came to rule in 2014, there was an atmosphere of chaos and took a bash at former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

“I couldn’t forget the scenes of 2013, where corruption was at its pinnacle, there was no place for the security of borders, internal security was extreme, the security of women was at stake. he was not considered as Prime Minister,” Shah spoke at an event in Delhi.

Amit Shah Took A Dig At Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh

The former BJP President said that the condition in Jammu and Kashmir has been peaceful since the revoke of Article 370 and not a single bullet has been fired up.

Article 370 that gave unusual powers to Jammu and Kashmir was nullified by the Union government on August 5. Soon after, the administration forced limits in the Valley.
the Supreme Court asked the government on Monday to take all steps to re-establish regularity in J&K But stressed there were “terrible reasons” for the limitations forced by the government.

Shah told the insight about India distorted after the surgical strike and the airstrike. “This is a crucial and determined and non-corrupt government. Whether it was the decision of airstrike or surgical strike…we decided that we would never negotiate with the security of this country,” he added.
