Why virtual reality (VR) headsets do not woo masses?

Virtual Reality headsets have yet to be well received by consumers as they do find their usage a bit difficult. They are not as popular.
Virtual reality has been in operation for almost five years now and its headsets are yet to find acceptance among the masses. Why virtual reality (VR) headsets failed to woo the masses is yet to be ascertained.

Why virtual reality (VR) headsets do not woo masses

One comes across them only in the corner of the mall being used by children who are wearing these head-mounted devices (HMDs) experience virtual games. Even those who did eventually purchase VR headsets — either as an independent unit or along with smartphones — have just kept them at home without using them. Why virtual reality (VR) headsets failed to woo the masses is a question that needs to be answered in this context.

The global Augmented Reality (AR) and VR headset market returned to growth after almost a full year of decline in the first quarter this year.

VR headsets do represent 96.6 percent of the combined AR/VR market during the quarter with strong volumes from top companies such as Sony, Facebook, HTC, Pico and 3Glasses.

There is indeed no doubt that enterprise AR is rather evolving quickly, especially in the fields of healthcare, education and at firms that do aim to enhance customer experiences.

Several companies are indeed actively searching for hardware solutions that they can use to improve existing business processes and drive new ones.

No doubt, VR headsets have indeed failed to strike a chord with the consumers. It is difficult to answer Why virtual reality (VR) headsets failed to woo the masses.

The reason why VR is not booming into the consumer segment is because of the uncomfortable, clunky headsets. Earlier also VR adopters have rather complained of mental fatigue due to prolonged use of VR headsets.

Secondly, there is also much dearth of quality VR content that one could get to see.

Reports do suggest that even as a relatively young technology, AR has indeed shown more promise than VR as it does involve adding visual elements to the real world — typically via smartphones. Unlike VR, it does not push users into distinct virtual environments.

VR can’t take off and be in a position to compete with AR unless and until vendors do make some serious changes from the consumers’ perspective.

VR content is readily available to consumers. Also, VR technology is not able to rule out nausea and other health-related issues while experiencing it.

Many efforts have been on to bring VR to the mainstream consumer market.

There are a lot of fundamental issues that have remained unresolved with VR gaming.

People tend to get nauseated when they put on a VR headset. They prefer to play video games alongside their friends on a 2D display.

Consumer interest in VR, being still in its infancy, will indeed see slow and steady traction as specific use-cases, such as gaming, are rather pushed forth.

Expectations are there about headsets that they would be used to drive the VR market growth.

Standalone VR headsets will be capturing about 38.2 percent of the VR market in 2019, up from 26.6 percent in 2018.
It is obvious VR headsets have to be more acceptable to the consumers than they are now.

Additionally, these technologies will be setting up new paradigms in the job market that will involve developers, programmers and computer vision experts who will be able to capitalize upon such opportunities of availing technologies. The focus is on virtual and augmented reality revolution with these openings.

Virtual and Augmented reality revolution with openings

The lucrative AR and VR market projects have been valued at $767.67 billion by 2025. It is predicted that there will be a 73.3 percent CAGR for the market during the forecast period (2018-2025). So here are certain kinds of jobs that will land the consumer with a VR/AR gig in the Indian startup scene. One cannot overlook the virtual and augmented reality revolution with these openings.

Similar to Pinterest, Tumblr is also quite popular for sharing visual content especially among teenagers as well as young adults. Users can indeed create blog posts and customize their blog theme as per their liking. If brands post great content, they can also end up with thousands of re-blogs and similar to them much depending on how far the content gets pushed in the Tumblr community.

Tumblr happens to be one of the web’s most iconic brands. It is, of course, an essential venue that is meant to share new ideas, cultures, and experiences, thus, in turn, helping millions to create and build communities around their shared interests. These are good reasons for the virtual and augmented reality revolution with these openings to be given importance.

Sony has rather brought forth something known as the 3D Creator and it can be able to make scanned images of any kind of object, which includes that of a living person.
Sony Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact have shown that the phone maker has been orienting itself towards the future of technology- Augmented Reality.
Sony has focused on innovating for the future. It has shown off its latest mobile in the Xperia series at the IFA 2017 in Berlin. No doubt, there is one feature in the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact which does show that the phone maker has been working towards the future of technology- Augmented Reality.

Augmented Reality has been accepted as a technology that became a sensation on account of its unique features. Nevertheless, it has been a boring gimmick, other than games such as Pokemon Go, which became popular for some time. Now, with Sony coming in, AR can be made use of to re-imagine the way a person makes use of mobiles.

There is a difference between virtual Reality vs Augmented Reality.
(VR) happens to be an artificial, computer-generated simulation or recreation of a real-life environment or situation. It does immerse the user by making them feel as though they are experiencing the simulated reality first hand, primarily by stimulating their vision as well as hearing.
Augmented reality (AR) happens to be a technology that has layers computer-generated enhancements atop an existing reality to make it more meaningful through the ability to interact with it. AR is developed into apps and is rather used on mobile devices to blend digital components into the real world in a manner that they enhance one another, but can also be noticed apart easily.
