Coolie Eyes ₹100 Crore Mark Before First Show

The anticipation for Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie is reaching fever pitch. Teaming up with blockbuster director Lokesh Kanagaraj for the first time, Rajini is set to return in a grey-shaded role, with King Nagarjuna playing the antagonist — a pairing that has fans buzzing.

With just 24 hours to go before release, Coolie has already raked in a staggering ₹83 crore gross worldwide from bookings. Ticket sales in the Telugu states only opened a few hours ago, but the response has been phenomenal, with strong occupancies even in smaller towns across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

At the current pace, trade analysts expect Coolie to touch ₹100 crore gross before the world’s first show begins. For reference, Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo, also directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, holds the Kollywood day-one record with ₹148.5 crore.

Given the momentum, Rajinikanth’s latest outing has a solid chance of surpassing Leo’s opening day numbers to set a new benchmark in Tamil cinema history.

AP Govt Approves Massive Ticket Price Hike for War 2 and Coolie

After approving a steep hike for Rajinikanth’s Coolie, the Andhra Pradesh government has now sanctioned the same increase for NTR and Hrithik Roshan’s War 2. Ticket prices have been raised by ₹75 (including GST) for single screens and ₹100 (including GST) for multiplexes, over the existing rates.

In a special privilege, War 2 distributors have also been allowed to screen an exclusive 5 A.M. show, with tickets priced at a premium of ₹500 for that screening. Coolie will also have a 5 A.M. show in AP, but without this special premium rate.

The revised prices will be in effect from August 14 to August 23. With the hike, tickets in AP will now be capped at ₹220 for single screens and ₹277 for multiplexes.

While Telangana rejected any price enhancement for these Independence Day releases, Andhra Pradesh’s approval of significant hikes is expected to boost initial box office collections for both films.

Big Star Rejected KGF, Reveals Hombale Films Co-Founder Chaluve Gowda

Big Star Once Rejected KGF, Reveals Hombale Films Co-Founder

The KGF franchise catapulted Sandalwood hero Yash to PAN-India stardom. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the two-part blockbuster is not only one of Indian cinema’s top grossers but also gave audiences the unforgettable “Rocky Bhai.” Much like Baahubali did for Telugu cinema, KGF—backed by Hombale Films—redefined the scope of Kannada filmmaking and inspired a new generation of directors to aim bigger.

In a surprising revelation, Hombale Films co-founder Chaluve Gowda shared that a major star had once turned down KGF. Without naming the actor, Gowda told Hindustan Times: “We went to a big star for KGF years ago. They asked, ‘Where do these Kannada films even run?’ Back then, not many people knew about Kannada cinema outside Karnataka, except for names like Dr. Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar, or (Kiccha) Sudeep. That has changed now.”

The role eventually went to Yash, and the rest is history. Today, KGF stands as a global brand, while the star who rejected it may well be regretting the decision.

Yash is now gearing up for his next big-budget PAN-India project, Toxic, directed by Geethu Mohandas and co-starring Kiara Advani and Nayanthara.

War 2 & Coolie Bookings Open in Telangana at Regular Prices

Telangana movie lovers have reason to celebrate — bookings for the much-awaited Independence Day weekend releases, War 2 and Coolie, are now live in select theatres. More cinemas across the state will soon list shows on ticketing platforms.

In a move welcomed by fans, the Telangana government has not approved ticket rate hikes for these biggies. Bookings have opened at regular prices — ₹177 for single screens and ₹295 for multiplexes. However, there will be no early morning shows; both films will start from 7 AM.

Sources say that going forward, dubbed films in Telangana will not be granted ticket price enhancements. With affordable rates in place, trade analysts expect strong footfalls — something crucial in the current box office climate.

Coolie, starring superstar Rajinikanth, and War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan and NTR, have been sold for premium rates in the Nizam region. The big question now is how these star-studded films will perform over the extended holiday weekend.

OTT: Small-Budget Tamil Film Paranthu Po Tops South Indian Charts

The Tamil comedy-drama Paranthu Po, starring Mirchi Shiva, has taken OTT by storm after its recent premiere on JioCinema. Following a successful theatrical run, the film is now streaming in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, Kannada, and Marathi, with English subtitles.

As per Ormax Media’s latest report, Paranthu Po was the most-watched South Indian film from August 4 to August 10, racking up 2.2 million views. It outperformed other notable titles like Siddharth’s 3BHK, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kajol’s Sarzameen, and Nithiin’s Thammudu. The rankings are based on viewers who watched at least 30 minutes of the film.

Interestingly, while Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 took the top spot overall in the digital space, Paranthu Po secured an impressive second place on the national list — a remarkable feat for a small-budget film without big stars.

The film features Grace Antony, Anjali, Aju Varghese, and Mithul Ryan in pivotal roles. Directed by Ram and jointly produced by Seven Seas & Seven Hills Productions, Jio Hotstar, and GKS Bros Productions, it boasts music by Santosh Dhayanidhi and a background score by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Anupama Parameswaran Opens Up on Tillu Square Role, Gears Up for Paradha Release

0

Anupama Parameswaran is all set to entertain audiences with Paradha, a social drama directed by Cinema Bandi fame Praveen Kandregula, releasing on August 22, 2025. The actress, who surprised many with her bold avatar in Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s Tillu Square last year, opened up about the challenges she faced while taking on that role.

The comedy caper, which featured intimate scenes, went on to become a massive blockbuster. However, during Paradha promotions, Anupama revealed she was initially hesitant. It took me a long time to say yes to Tillu Square. I was in two minds, and it was a tough decision. I couldn’t perform with complete confidence because that role is entirely different from my real life. I was not even comfortable wearing those outfits, as I don’t usually dress that way,” she said.

The actress further shared that she prefers a low-maintenance lifestyle and values comfort over appearance.“Investing time in looking good is something I don’t enjoy. The more comfortable I am, the more confident I feel, and that reflects in my performance. For me, playing a role where I had to look good constantly was the most challenging part. I also worried about how people might perceive me. There was criticism — people didn’t like me in that role, even though they liked the character itself, which was as strong as the hero’s.”

If you’d like, I can also create a concise, engaging entertainment news version for social media. That would grab attention faster.

Mahavatar Narsimha Crosses ₹200 Crore in 17 Days | Kannada Box Office Sensation

0

The Kannada film industry has yet another reason to celebrate as Mahavatar Narsimha, the animated devotional spectacle directed by Ashwin Kumar, continues its unstoppable run at the box office.

In an official announcement, the makers revealed that the movie has crossed the ₹200 crore gross milestone worldwide — and it achieved this remarkable feat in just 17 days.

With this achievement, Mahavatar Narsimha has become only the 4th Kannada movie to enter the ₹200 crore club, excluding digital and satellite rights. Its popularity has extended beyond Karnataka, with dubbed versions — especially in Telugu — contributing to its massive success.

Even with major releases like Coolie and War 2 lined up for August 14, 2025, trade experts believe that Mahavatar Narsimha will continue to hold strong, especially given its strong family appeal and devotional theme.

Produced by Kleem Productions and presented by Hombale Films, the movie has set a new benchmark for animated films in India. All eyes are now on how much higher it can climb in the coming weeks.
