There has been a lot of speculation about who will be playing the role of Basavatarakam, wife of late Sri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, in the upcoming biopic ‘NTR’. Sr. NTR’s son, senior star hero, Nandamuri Balakrishna is playing the lead role. Teja is directing the film.
The film unit even used ‘face mapping’ technology, to find a suitable face to reprise the role of Basavatarakam in the movie. Despite auditioning hundreds of new faces, director Teja has not found one. According to insider sources, it is confirmed that Bollywood ‘woman’ Vidya Balan will be reprising the role of Basavatarakam on the silver screen.
The filmmakers were delighted to have Vidya Balan on board. Given the pan-India image of Vidya Balan, the makers believe that it could propel the movie in Hindi too. Adding to it, Vidya Balan is a South Indian, she hails from Kerala, she very well knows the charisma, and mania Sr. NTR had while he was alive.
It has also been reported that the makers were willing to pay Vidya a handsome check, that too for minimal call sheets. Overall, with Vidya Balan on board, and Balakrishna in the lead role, we can expect some incredible and startling performances on the silver screen.
