Virat Kohli to tour West Indies for all three formats as India’s next assignment kicks off on August 3

Date:

Virat Kohli will be a part of India’s upcoming tour of West Indies scheduled to start from August 3 onwards. India will play three T20Is, as many ODIs and two Tests following their heartbreaking exit from the ICC World Cup 2019 as the Men in Blue move forward and look to prepare for the World T20 scheduled for next year in Australia. There were speculations that Kohli will be rested for the tour of the Caribbean nation but now it is highly expected that the Indian skipper will travel to the West Indies for the full-fledged tour.

Kohli was central to criticism after India’s heartbreaking exit from the ICC World Cup 2019. Many cricket experts and pundits blamed the Indian skipper for sending MS Dhoni at number seven while pushing the likes of Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya up in the batting order despite India struggling at 5-3 and later 24-4.

Now, as India look forward to moving on and shift their focus on the World T20, Virat Kohli has informed the selectors that he wants to be a part of the squad for the tour of the West Indies and start the process of turning things around following a disappointing ending to the 2019 World Cup, according to a report.

No rest for Kohli despite continuous cricket?

Kohli has been on the road since India’s tour of Australia. The Indian skipper was rested for the final two ODIs and the T20I series against New Zealand but the 30-year-old was back leading the side against Australia. Following the home series against Australia, Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) but his side ended at the bottom of the points table after acquiring just 11 points in 14 games with five wins and eight defeats under their belt.
Now, with Kohli deciding to play in India’s tour of the West Indies, it will be interesting to see his approach following India’s exit from the ICC World Cup 2019. Will Kohli leads from the front with his natural aggressive approach or will he take a back seat and take a more conservative approach towards the game?
