We lost the match because of them! – Kane Williamson
It looks like the defeat in the 2nd ODI with India, did have a grave impact on the Black Caps skipper Kane Williamson. In the 3 match ODI series India did keep its hopes alive in the must-win encounter with the Kiwis by winning the 2nd ODI that took place at the MCA Stadium, Pune yesterday. ‘Our top order has failed miserably. This is really an area of concern for us. The Indian fast bowlers
did bowl brilliantly. They were consistent in line and length, and were duly rewarded,’ said Williamson.
He also went on to add ‘there are a lot of grey areas that we need to correct. We did learn a lot from this match. We aware of the fact that we need to play exceptionally to defeat this side (India). It wasn’t easy batting on the pitch. After performing well in Mumbai, we did come to Pune with a lot of hopes. We are looking forward to performing well in Kanpur, in the 3rd ODI and clinch the series’.
New Zealand scored 230/9 in their 50 overs, while India 232/4 chased the target with 4 over to spare. Bhuvneshwar Kumar who had figures of 45/3 was awarded the man of the match. Shikhar Dhawan is the top scorer with 68 runs, while Dinesh Karthik remained not out with 64.
