Bomb Threat on GoAir Aircraft!
GoAir Flight G8-127 was landed at the Netaji Subash Chandra Bose International Airport under emergency circumstances. ‘The flight G8-127 flying inbound to Kolkata from IGI, New Delhi has landed at the Kolkata Airport at 9:30 pm after the pilot of the aircraft informed the Air Traffic Control of a bomb threat in the aircraft,’ said an airport official.
The Air Traffic Control arranged for an emergency landing of the aircraft on the runway. The aircraft reportedly touched down at 9:30pmand was taxied to an isolated area. All the passengers were immediately evacuated and were declared safe.
The flight was thoroughly checked by the bomb squad for any potential explosive devices. It took over an hour for the complete check of the aircraft.
Post the examination by the bomb squad, the bomb threat assessment committee of the Kolkata Airport has confirmed the threat as ‘hoax’. The flight’s pilot has been taken into custody by the airport authorities for further inquiry into the incident.
A string of similar bomb threats has been haunting the Aviation Industry in India from the past couple of years. In 2016 Air India has repeatedly received ‘bomb threats’ on various occasion. With ever-increasing global terrorism, it looks like the skies no more safe to travel.
