BrahMos Supersonic Cruise Missile Successfully Tested

India on Wednesday successfully tests fired Brahmos supersonic cruise missile from Sukhoi- 30MKI fighter jet for the first time. In case of conflicts, this combination will give Indian defense forces a much-needed help. The missile hit a seabed, in the Bay of Bengal from the Combat jet.

The missile travels at a speed three times that of a sound at Mach 2.8, while the Sukhoi jet has a cruising range of 3000km. The BrahMos Missile is a joint version of Indian and Russia and is considered to be the fastest in the world. It had a strike range of 290km and can even carry conventional warhead up to 300 kg.

Earlier, she tweeted “India creates a world record and completes Supersonic Cruise Missile Triad by successfully testing BrahMos, ALCM from Indian Air Force Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter aircraft”. She also congratulated all responsible for this historic achievement.

According to reports, the missile’s weight and design were tweaked a bit to integrate it in the Sukhoi.

BrahMos became the first weapon system in the world to have the ability and capability to be fired from land, sea and air platforms after its successful test. It is a joint venture between India and Russia.
