DGP Shesh Paul Vaid – 200+ Terrorists killed in J&K this year

The Director-General of Police for the state of Jammu & Kashmir, Shesh Paul Vaid has stated that over 200 terrorists have been killed in the counter-insurgency operations carried by the state police, Indian Army, and CRPF forces.
The comment comes in light after the Armed forces killed 5 terrorists in two separate encounters in Baramulla and Budgam districts.
‘This year marked the highest number of deaths of terrorists in the insurgency operations since the year 2010. This enabled us to establish peace and stability in the state of Jammu and Kashmir,’ said a police official.
As many as 270 terrorists have been killed in the joint strikes by the Armed Forces in J&K. But the number dropped to 100 by the year 2015.
There has been a steep increase in the number of civilians killings this year, despite the improved security measures in the highly sensitive areas of the valley. 54 civilian killings were recorded so far this year, while 14 killings were reported last year. While the number of security forces fatalities reduced to 77 this year from 88 fatalities last year.
