Siddharth, who is well known for his chocolate boy and boy-next-door roles came up with altogether a different film. The hero has been away from Telugu movies in the past two years after a series of flops. In the past few years, Siddharth limited himself to few number of the film in Tamil by acting in unique films. He did see a couple of hits in Kollywood. His recent horror-flick ‘Aval’ has become a super hit in Kollywood and released as ‘Gruham’ in Telugu today.
Story:
Krish (Siddharth) and Lakshmi (Andrea) are a happy couple who got recently married. They both are excited about their new life and spend together as much as they can. When everything seems to be perfectly fine, a new family moves into their neighborhood. A girl (called Anisha) from the newly-moved in the family starts liking Krish from the very moment she sees him. Anisha is also aware the Krish is the married guy. From that point, things take a different turn with evil premonitions being a common sight in Krish’s and Anisha’s house.
An unknown evil spirit starts frightening them resulting in horrifying events that start taking place. During this time, the girl who liked Krish commits a suicide attempt to end her life. And it is during this period, Lakshmi becomes a pregnant. With the uncommon sights taking place, Krish takes the help of an exorcist. Unfortunately, Krish will be possessed by a soul. All of a sudden, two souls of Chinese women (Mother and daughter) who previously lived in the house start attacking the possessed Krish.
Who possessed Krish? What happens to the lives of Krish and Lakshmi? And what is the fate of the girl who liked Krish? One has to see the film on celluloid to find out the answers to these questions.
Analysis:
The film is based on a long-debated concept of, Science vs Faith. The film is inspired by the Hollywood horror flick ‘The House next door’. Science possibly tries to explain the reason behind every event that takes place. But while finding a solution, it’s the faith that matters a lot. The director of the film managed to convey that, ‘If Science and Faith come together, one can solve a problem’, with ease. The film moves away from a contemporary horror film in India and rather depicts horror in a more realistic manner than the jump scares and shouts.
One can expect to see Siddharth in his new avatar as Krish. Veteran actor Suresh has given one his best performances in this film. He plays the role of a Psychiatrist. Athul Kulkarni’s character also leaves a deep impact on our minds. The film is the result of sheer dedication and concept the director has believed in. Don’t be surprised if the characters of Krish, Lakshmi and Anisha haunt you on your way back to your home. The success of the film depends on the fact that, whether the audience will be able to understand the complex concept of ‘Science and Faith working in rapport or not.
Positive Points:
- Visuals and Acting
- Script, Narration and Background Music
Drawbacks:
- Complex Concept.
Telugu Bullet Punchline: Even if you are weak hearted, do watch the film once! It’s worth it!
