The Hollywood horror thriller Obsession, which made waves at the global box office, hit Indian theatres yesterday and has opened on a promising note. Despite being made on a modest budget, the film has already crossed the impressive $100 million mark worldwide.
Starring Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette in lead roles, the indie horror film managed to attract decent audiences on its first day in India. According to trade reports, Obsession collected around Rs. 1.50 crore nett on Friday, while Thursday night paid premieres added another Rs. 50 lakh nett, taking the total opening collection to Rs. 2 crore nett.
The film is receiving highly positive word of mouth, with audiences especially praising its chilling horror sequences and intense atmosphere. Advance bookings for today are reportedly showing strong growth, which is considered an excellent sign for an independent horror release.
Obsession is written, directed, and edited by Curry Barker, marking his theatrical directorial debut.
