India clinch their maiden T20 title against New Zealand!
Finally, the Indians managed to clinch their maiden T20 title against the black caps, New Zealand. In a rain-delayed match, both the sides managed to get 8 overs each. While India ended up scoring 67/5 in 8 overs, New Zealand fell short by 6 runs, after scoring 61/6 in their 8 overs.
Southee struck two blows in the 3rd over of the innings leaving India at 15/2. Sodhi claimed the price wicket of Kohli after being scored off a four and a six in the over. With Pandey and Pandya chipped in 2 sixes and a boundary to take India’s score to reach 67 at the loss of 5 wickets.
New Zealand innings started off with a six for the 2nd ball of the 1st over. Later, Kumar struck in the first over by clean bowling Martin Guptill. From thereon, NZ really never seemed to recover. Bumrah and Kuldeep kept on taking the wickets at regular intervals. Kane Williamson’s run out by Pandya’s throw was match turning point.
This is the maiden T20 series win for India against New Zealand. Interestingly India has won both the deciders (ODI and T20) with 6 runs. Bumrah was announced as the ‘Man of the Match’ for his terrific bowling figures of 9/2 in two overs.
