Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is set to reveal the 206-feet tall Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue in Vijayawada on Friday.
The towering sculpture, standing at 125 feet on an 81-feet pedestal in Ambedkar Smriti Vanam, becomes the world’s tallest Ambedkar statue. Placed in the historic Swaraj Maidan, the Chief Minister urges people to attend the unveiling, calling it a symbol of social justice and a jewel for the state and the country.
Jagan Mohan Reddy pays homage to Dr. Ambedkar, praising his visionary ideas that continue to shape India’s social, economic, and political history. The statue is seen as a representation of social justice, aligning with the government’s Navaratnalu welfare schemes rooted in Ambedkar’s ideology.
Dr. Ambedkar’s rebellion against untouchability and advocacy for education among oppressed classes left a lasting impact. His statues, scattered in every hamlet, serve as inspiration for social change and equality.
The Chief Minister believes that the unveiling of the Ambedkar statue in Vijayawada will be etched in golden letters in the state’s history, providing inspiration for generations to come. The statue symbolizes a permanent place for the poor in political power, encouraging rebellion against feudalistic forces and promoting social equality.
