Nicole Kidman: ‘I’m hoping I haven’t done my best work’

After over three decades in films, actress Nicole Kidman feels she still has a lot to do and hopes her best is yet to come.

“I’m hoping I haven’t done my best work. I’m hoping I get to experience more extraordinary creative alliances and times with people,” variety.com quoted Kidman as saying.

Now, she is looking forward to taking up some unexpected projects.

“I’m willing to go and work on something that’s got a really, really low budget and doesn’t have the money to pay you and just get in there and do it. It’s why I do things like ‘Destroyer’,” she said.

The actress continued: “When I went to Belfast (for ‘The Northman’), I was pretty scared. People were saying, ‘Oh my God, if you go, you’re going to get COVID’. So I was really frightened, but at the same time, I had this sense of duty and I had this sense of ‘this is what I do’. I’m a creative being who shows up and I put on as much protection as I could and so I did the production and we were all safe and I went, ‘OK, let’s go’.”

Kidman will soon star as Lucille Ball opposite Javier Bardem in “Being the Ricardos”. Aaron Sorkin’s drama is about one week during the making of an episode of “I Love Lucy”.

“I was like, ‘Yeah, I would love to give it a go’. With Aaron’s words and his direction and Javier… that’s kind of a wonderful prospect too, you know. But yikes, off we go. Give it a go. Try my best — see if I can do it,” Kidman said.

“I love Lucille, having looked now and delved into her,” Kidman says. “She’s an amazing woman. I’m very excited for people to see what Aaron found out about her and the way he’s interpreted Desi and Lucy and the way that it’s so rich. I didn’t know any of this,” she added.

Sonali Phogat: Rubina is a smart player, deserves to win Bigg Boss 14

Actress and politician Sonali Phogat, who was evicted from Bigg Boss 14 earlier this week, feels television actress Rubina Dilaik is very good at manipulating people around her and will end up as the winner of the popular television reality show.

“Before making my entry in the show, I watched a few episodes and I thought Rubina (Dilaik) and Rahul (Vaidya) were very strong contestants. I thought that Eijaz (Khan) is a very weird and rude person because he used to fight a lot. When I entered the house, I experienced the complete opposite side of him. They (contestants) are there for 24 hours in the house but the audience only sees a one-and-half-hour episode of those 24 hours, so you kind of end up making preconceived notions about certain people,” Sonali told IANS.

“I have lived in that house with principles and morality but I don’t think that has been aired on the show. I feel my one or two mistakes have been highlighted,” she added.

On Rubina, Sonali said: “I think she has been made for shows like these. She is a very smart player and she has been playing her game really well. She has the knack to manipulate people around her, so I think she is the one who can win that trophy.”

“People like me are not made for shows like these where you have to constantly change your stance and strategy to be in the show,” observed Sonali, who had entered the Bigg Boss 14 house in the last week of December.

Sonali Phogat was the National Vice President of BJP’s Mahila Morcha. In 2016, she made her acting debut with the TV show Amma: Ek Maa Jo Laakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma. She was last seen in the web series, The Story Of Badmashgarh in 2019.

Asked if she is seriously pursuing a career in the entertainment industry after walking out of Bigg Boss house, she replied: “I have always given equal priority to politics and acting, but now I feel that I should concentrate more on acting. Salman Khan always praised my dance performances when I used to perform during Weekend Ka Vaar, so I think that was a big compliment for me.”

Currently, Rubina Dilaik, Abhinav Shukla, Aly Goni, Arshi Khan, Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Nikki Tamboli, Rahul Vaidya, Rakhi Sawant, and Vikas Gupta are competing for the title of Bigg Boss 14.

During her stay in the Bigg Boss house, Sonali made headlines creating a ruckus as she fought with Rubina and Arshi Khan over paranthas. The fight was overthrowing a paratha in the dustbin. Housemates had complained against Sonali for allegedly threatening them on national television.

Nadendla Manohar hints at Chiranjeevi’s future ‘role’ in politics

Janasena leader and Pawan Kalyan’s aide Nadendla Manohar hinted at Chiranjeevi’s future ‘role’ in politics at a recent internal party meeting, whose video was telecast by a local news channel on Wednesday.

Manohar broached the matter in what appeared to be an explanation to Janasena supporters in a closed-door meeting as to why Kalyan returned to acting.

He claimed that Kalyan quit acting in movies for the sake of politics.

“For the sake of politics, he left movies also. Now as we are a little free, as part of several steps we took, we should tell that movies are also needed. I have to tell this as it is an internal meeting,” Manohar said in the video which appeared to have been recorded by one of the attendees of that internal meeting.

According to the former Assembly Speaker of united Andhra Pradesh, Kalyan’s brother Chiranjeevi and founder of another political party, Prajarajyam, had encouraged the Janasena party founder to act for another one or two more years before plunging into politics completely.

“Once I, Kalyan, and Chiranjeevi sat together and talked. Chiranjeevi said that time should be allocated for movies for one or two years. After that, you do politics completely. In your political journey, I will definitely be with you,” said Manohar.

At the mention of Chiranjeevi’s ‘support’, the attendants detonated into a loud roar of applause and approval.

Kalyan founded Janasena just before the general elections in 2014 in which he refrained from contesting but extended full support to N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP), whom he vociferously opposed as the head of Yuvarajyan, youth wing of Chiranjeevi’s Prajarajyam in the run-up to 2009 election.

However, Chiranjeevi’s political ambitions could not penetrate the Congress fortress led by Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

After Chiranjeevi merged Prajarajyam in Congress party in 2012 and went on to enjoy a central government ministerial berth in UPA – II, Kalyan was inactive politically but surfaced again in 2014 with his own party.

Janasena contested the 2019 general elections without the involvement of Chiranjeevi but doled out an MP seat to his other brother Nagendra Babu, a comedy show judge and another Tollywood actor.

Kalyan, who contested in Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram, Babu, and all others in his party lost out in the 2019 polls, except Rapaka Varaprasad, current Razole MLA, whose loyalty the actor-politician failed to retain.

Chiranjeevi has already been inactive in politics for several years but Manohar’s revelations may rekindle some hopes of the legendary actor’s re-entry into politics in his fans and supporters.
