Frank Grillo set to star in feature film ‘The Dagon’

Actor Frank Grillo will fight a group of “terrifying, deadly creatures” in the upcoming feature film, ‘The Dagon’.

Brad Anderson is set to direct the thriller, working from an original screenplay by Peter Mattei, reports Variety’.

In ‘The Dagon’, Grillo will play Jack, a father who lives an isolated rural life alongside his family.

“When his eldest daughter comes of age, the family must confront the Dagon, the terrifying, deadly creatures that surround them every night,” reads the tagline.

The film is set to start production in the Pacific Northwest in fall 2022. Neal Edelstein and Mike Macari will produce. They previously worked with Anderson on ‘Fractured’.

“Frank Grillo is one of the most compelling and dynamic actors out there and I have been wanting to work with him for ages,” said Anderson.

“‘The Dagon’ is tailor-made for his huge talents and I couldn’t be happier to have him on board.”

“Collaborating with Neal and Mike on our film ‘Fractured’ was one of my most exciting creative experiences and I’m thrilled to be doing it again.”

“These days especially I think we need more movies like ‘The Dagon’, elevated dark stories that can transport you, horrify you, move you and, like all great fairy tales, work as both cautionary tales and beacons of hope.”

Adult dialogues in Mahesh Babu’s ‘SVP’ trailer spark debate

On May 2, the long-awaited trailer of ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’, starring superstar Mahesh Babu and Keerthy Suresh, was released. The trailer received over 25 million views in the first 24 hours, breaking a record.

While the trailer, as a whole ups the ante, an adult dialogue, an innuendo, and a couple of double-meaning dialogues didn’t sit well with the Telugu audience.

Toward the end of the trailer, Mahesh Babu says something that not only sexualizes the context but also means something that doesn’t fit the native Telugu barrier.

“It’s like a bridegroom taking 100 Viagra pills and waiting for the first night, you guys knocked on his door at the right time”, the dialogue means, which could be considered an adult one. Mahesh says this dialogue is to show that he has been desperate to finish off the rowdies, which sexualizes the entire situation.

In another scene, Mahesh’s innuendo during a serious situation has also sparked debate. While some viewers have no complaints about the hero’s dialogues, the majority of others did not expect this from Mahesh, who has always maintained dignity, even in his films.
