‘It’s a surreal moment’, says Charan on dad SPB’s Padma Vibhushan

Scores of fans of legendary singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam across the world will feel much joy on Tuesday when his son S.P.B. Charan, who is also an actor, producer and singer himself, receives the Padma Vibhushan, one of the nation’s highest honours, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on behalf of his late father.

Charan, who was on his way to New Delhi to take part in the prestigious event which is to be held on Tuesday, told in an interview from the Chennai airport that this was a “surreal moment” for him.

“We are grateful to the government of India for having honoured dad with this award. This actually feels surreal. We expected this to happen when dad was around. It’s a moment of mixed emotion for us,” a visibly moved Charan said and pointed out that the last time they had gone to the Rashtrapati Bhavan was to collect the Padma Bhushan award.

Six-time National Award winning sensation Balasubrahmanyam, a legend whose phenomenal achievements are unparalleled in the field of singing and music, has sung over a whopping 40,000 songs.

His mellifluous voice has earned him crores of fans, cutting across cultures, languages and countries. The genius that he was, Balasubrahmanyam won a number of awards including 25 Nandi Awards given by the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The gifted singer, fondly known as ‘SPB’, passed away in September last year after he developed complications caused by Covid-19.

Earlier this year, the government of India announced the Padma Vibhushan (Posthumous) to Balasubrahmanyam.

SPB Charan, who is an incredibly good singer himself, says that after his father’s demise, there has been a sudden spurt in the attention on him.

The young producer and singer says life must go on and therefore, he has now taken over as the host of ‘Padutha Theeyaga’, a singing reality show on ETV that was hosted by the legendary SPB for 19 years.

‘Bigg Boss 15’: Ieshaan Sehgaal wants Tejasswi to lift the trophy

Actor Ieshaan Sehgaal who was evicted from the ‘Bigg Boss 15’ house due to getting less votes, says he is not disappointed on his eviction as ‘Bigg Boss’ house has given him beautiful memories and also feeling of love that is most special for him.

“I believe in destiny and my journey in ‘Bigg Boss’ was destined to end here. So, I am taking it that way without thinking much,” he says, adding: “Moreover ‘Bigg Boss’ house has given me the love of my life. And I want to tell everyone that the kind of bond Miesha and I developed inside the house is going to be the same and I am in love with her. She is most special to me. Miesha also feels the same way and I really care for her.”

But does he feel that inside the house he was mostly connected with Miesha and that could be the possible reason for his eviction. “Well, this is the fact that most of the time I was spending time with Miesha and we were really close but I connected well with others also. I consider Tejasswi Prakash as my sister and this relationship will continue forever. I was also sharing a great bond with Karan and Jay. So, I don’t think I was lacking in making connections. But this is ‘Bigg Boss’ and anything could happen.”

Who does he think should lift the ‘Bigg Boss’ trophy: “I want Tejasswi as she is playing really well, so, yes, she deserves.”

When asked Ieshaan about the most memorable moments that will always stay with him, he replies: “The most memorable moment was when Miesha went on her knees to propose to me. Nobody ever made me feel so special.”

Ieshaan says that ‘Bigg Boss 15’ has helped in getting a lot of love and attention from the people and he is really happy about this. Moreover he is getting calls for some good projects about which he cannot reveal right now. “I am just out and talks are going on for some big web shows and music videos but cannot reveal much as it is too early,” he concludes.

Raashi Khanna signs up for Sundar C’s Tamil comedy

Noted Telugu actress Raashi Khanna, who got much attention with her roles in movies like ‘Supreme’, ‘Oohalu Gusagusa Laade’, and ‘Venky Mama’, had appeared in many other roles as well.

As the actress is busy with back-to-back Telugu movies, she is all set to be seen in an upcoming Tamil movie as well.

It is reported that Raashi has joined hands with ‘Aranmanai 3’ director Sundar C for yet another project. Touted to be a commercial, comedy entertainer, this movie is to get on the floors soon. Popular hero Jiiva is to play the main lead in the movie. The team has planned for a schedule, which would be kick-started soon after Makar Sankranti.

Raashi Khanna has had two Tamil releases in recent times – ‘Tuglaq Darbar’ and ‘Aranmanai 3’, which did decently well. Now that Raashi is all set for another Tamil movie, she has high hopes from this project.

Raashi has been busy shooting for two Telugu projects. ‘Pakka Commercial’ and ‘Thank You’ are the current projects Raashi is a part of in Telugu. Raashi is to be seen in a Hindi web series opposite Shahid Kapoor and Ajay Devgn as well.

Samantha invited as speaker at IFFI, set for Hindi debut

Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been invited to speak at the International Film Festival of India in Goa from November 20-28.

The organisers have also roped in director Aruna Raje, actor John Edathattil, and director Vivek Agnihotri as speakers at IFFI. Manoj Bajpayee too is among the speakers.

Samantha, who allured the audience with her performance in ‘The Family Man 2’ web series, is apparently invited to speak at the Film Festival as well. Samantha is the first south Indian actress to be invited as a speaker at IFFI.

As there are rumours of Samantha’s Bollywood debut, folks are expecting Samantha to be a part of the festival, so as to create her space. There is talk that Samantha would soon sign her maiden Hindi film under Tapsee Pannu’s home production. But, there is no official confirmation about the project from both sides.

Meanwhile, Samantha has zeroed two multi-lingual projects, one of the two projects is touted to be a romantic fantasy, while the other is a thriller. Samantha’s appearance in Gunasekhar’s mythological film ‘Shaakuntalam’ is under post-production.

Actor Nani appears on ‘Unstoppable with NBK’

Telugu star Nandamuri Balakrishna made his digital debut with a talk show ‘Unstoppable with NBK’. The celebrity talk show premiered on the OTT Telugu platform Aha on November 4, on the occasion of Diwali.

With the first episode featuring the Manchu Family on ‘Unstoppable’, Balakrishna was seen actively interacting with Mohan Babu, Vishnu, and Lakshmi. Now, the latest update is that ‘Natural Star’ Nani has joined the veteran actor and appeared as one of the guests for the show.

The makers of ‘Unstoppable with NBK’ unveiled a few posters from the sets of the talk show. ‘Eega’ fame Nani is seen having a great time on the show, sharing the screen with the legendary actor Balakrishna. Nani is a huge admirer of Nandamuri Balakrishna, whom he had mentioned several times in the past.

Now that Nani is going to be featured in the second episode of ‘Unstoppable with NBK’, expectations are rife. A few posters released by team ‘Aha’ feature Nani and Balakrishna throwing paper rockets together.

Well, on the work front, Nani is prepping up for a huge release of his upcoming movie ‘Shyam Singha Roy’, while Balakrishna’s ‘Akhanda’ is still in production.

Bollywood’s day out at Padma Awards: Kangana, Adnan Sami, Ekta Kapoor honoured

Bollywood personalities Kangana Ranaut, Adnan Sami and Ekta Kapoor are a few names being honoured with the Padma Shri on Monday in a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the capital.

They will be feted with the honour by President Ram Nath Kovind. Other recipients of the Padma Shri this year from the world of arts include filmmaker Karan Johar and late singer S.P. Balasubramaniam.

Kangana took to her Instagram story to share a screenshot about the news. The screenshot seems to be from a Kangana fan club.

The post read: “Four times National Award winner Kangana Ranaut to be honoured with the fourth highest civilian honoured ‘Padma Shri’ on 8th November in New Delhi’.

The pictures from the ceremony have been doing the rounds on social media, where Kangana is seen sporting a beautiful green-golden saree paired with stunning large jhumkas and a white face mask. Musician Adnani Sami looked dapper in a classic black sherwani with golden embroidery.

Last month, Kangana was feted with the Best Actress award for her performances in the Hindi films ‘Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi’ and ‘Panga’ at the 67th National Film Awards.

‘Bigg Boss 15’: Miesha Iyer, Ieshaan Sehgaal evicted from the house

The recently aired ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode of ‘Bigg Boss 15’ ended with the eviction of Miesha Iyer and Ieshaan Sehgaal.

The two had developed a special bond with each other that was shown in earlier episodes and when Miesha’s eviction was announced, ‘Bigg Boss’ fans have already started assuming the eviction of Ieshaan. The previous episodes have shown them developing a good chemistry with each other. They were quite close to each other and all this was visible in the show to everyone. They used to have candid conversation with each other also.

Besides, this Miesha was very close to Jay also and Ieshaan bonded well with Shamita, Tejasswi and Rajiv.

Miesha says how she made good friends inside the ‘Bigg Boss’ house and how painful the eviction was for her : “With a really heavy heart, I bid goodbye to ‘Bigg Boss’. I have lived some of the most amazing moments of my life in this house and I can’t believe it has come to an end so soon! But there is a lot to look forward to; I have made special friends in this journey. I couldn’t be more grateful to find my special one. My dream of winning the title is gone, but the friendships I have been blessed with will always remain.”

Ieshaan also looked disappointed and said that he learnt a lot on this show and one thing that he pointed out was falling in love in the show: “This has been quite a journey. I can’t express how disappointed I feel now that I can’t go any further. But I’m taking away some important lessons that I’ve learnt on my journey and beautiful memories with my friends. I also know now what it feels like to fall in love.”

Biopic announced on life of legendary dancer Sitara Devi

Sitara Devi is one of the iconic artistes of India. A recipient of several awards, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Padma Shri and Kalidas Samman among others, she revived the Indian classical dance form of Kathak and gave it a new dimension.

A biopic on the legendary dancer has now been confirmed on her 101st birth anniversary.

Producer Raj C. Anand of Raj Anand Movies made an announcement as he said, “We are very happy and excited to bring the story of Sitara Devi to life to the big screen. We believe that her story will make a compelling watch and we would ensure that the film turns out to be as fascinating as her real-life used to be.”

Ranjit Barot, the celebrated musician and drummer, who is the son of Sitara Devi, has taken the onus of guiding the project’s research team by helping them with deep insights into his mother’s life basis which the story will be designed.

Talking about the project, Ranjit said, “I am excited that a film is to be made on my mother’s life. When Raj Anand (producer) came to me with the idea of making a film on her, I realised it is coming from a very genuine space of enthusiasm and admiration towards my mother who was an iconic artiste. We intend to bring to the screen the untold story of her life through this endeavour.”

The research work on the life of the renowned artiste has already begun as a part of pre-production, the makers will soon announce the cast and director. Born on November 8, 1920, Sitara Devi was not just an eminent artiste but also a strong woman, who strengthened the ideology of feminism and womanhood by living life on her own terms.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ to release in India on Dec 17

To Hit the Indian big screen, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, which is starrer of Actor Tom Holland and Zendaya, is set  to release on on December 17.

In the film, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May will also appear.

Holland’s version of Peter Parker made its debut in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and went on to feature in two solo movies and two ‘Avengers’ films.

The poster of the film was unveiled on Monday. It shares a glimpse of William Dafoe’s Green Goblin in the background. Meanwhile, Dr. Otto Octavius also known as Doc Ock’s mechanical arms, Electro’s lighting, and sand from Sandman can also be seen.

‘Vikram’ first look logs 10 million views in 24 hours

The first look of actor Kamal Haasan’s action thriller ‘Vikram’, which is directed by Lokesh Kanakaraj, has garnered a whopping 10 million views in less than 24 hours of its release.

Vikram’s unit released the first look of the film on Saturday evening, to mark the beginning of the birthday celebrations of actor Kamal Haasan.

Announcing the accomplishment, Raaj Kamal Films International, which is producing the film, tweeted, “10M+ Views in less than 24 HOURS for the First Glance into the world of VIKRAM.”

The video on YouTube features an exciting action sequence from the film in which Kamal Haasan is seen using a metal shield to defend himself against intense gunfire inside a prison.

Vikram has music by Anirudh and cinematography by Girish Gangadharan. Edited by Philomin Raj, the film, which also features actor Vijay Sethupathi, has art direction by N. Sathees Kumar.
