7-year-old girl dies of dengue in hospital | 18 Lakhs billed for 15 day

With everyday passing by, the cost of ‘Health’ has been increasing. Though the per capita income increased in the last 5 years, the cost of Health increased disproportionately. Hospitals have become business houses that earn crores of rupees in the name of ‘advanced treatment’. One such incident took place in Gurgaon at the Fortis Memorial Research Institute.
A 7-year-old girl named Adya Singh was admitted to the hospital on 31st August and was diagnosed with dengue. As the girl’s condition deteriorated she was put on a ventilator the next day. The hospital treated the girl for about 15 days. The girl died in front of the hospital premises after the parents wanted to transfer the 7-year-old to another hospital.
The girl’s father was asked to clear the bill. It was at that time he realized that they charged for 660 syringes and 2700 gloves were used. The hospital charged Rs 200 for strips to check blood sugar levels. The girl’s father mentioned that ‘they state Rs 13 on their website.’
The girl’s family took forward the incident to the Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda. A case has been filed against the hospital.
It was actually an attempt to house 60 men, but two could not participate in the feat. Overall it was a tedious task and only after multiple attempts, by the end of the day they were able to achieve it. In all 150 personnel of the ASC took part in the program to support staff and daredevil team.
