Telangana launches India’s first robotics policy framework

Telangana leads the way with the first state robotics framework, aimed at establishing a sustainable robotics ecosystem and positioning the state as a leader in innovation, entrepreneurship, research, and development.

The Minister of Information Technology and Industries, The robotics framework was launched by K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology and Industries Minister, as the sixth framework by the Emerging Technologies Wing of the ITE&C Department.

The minister emphasized that Telangana has always recognized the significant role of technology in the development of a state and has prioritized the adoption of the latest technological advancements to encourage innovation.

Telangana established the Emerging Technologies Wing in 2017 to drive ecosystem development and government adoption of emerging technologies such as AI, Blockchain, Drones, Additive Manufacturing, IoT, Space Tech, Cloud, and Robotics.

Telangana has already released 5 policy frameworks on AI, Cloud, Blockchain, Drone, and SpaceTech, making it a pioneer in adopting emerging technologies and a role model for other states, according to the minister.

In collaboration with the All India Robotics Association, academia, industry experts, and stakeholders, the Emerging Technologies Wing has developed a comprehensive roadmap, the robotics framework, to promote the growth of the robotics industry in the state and contribute to the development of the industry in the country.

The framework aims to utilize robotics technology to promote growth and development in four domains – agriculture, healthcare, industrial automation, and consumer robotics.

One of the main aspects of the framework is the establishment of a Robo Park that will provide testing facilities, co-working spaces, and manufacturing options in partnership with industry, academia, and incubators, either on state-owned sites or at competitive rates.

A world-class robotics accelerator will also be established in the state, providing startups with the necessary incubation, infrastructure, authorization support, market insights, investor connections, and mentorship support.

The government has identified five key pillars to achieve the vision of the framework, including infrastructure access, business enablement, fostering research and innovation, human capital enhancement, and responsible deployment.

A separate entity named Telangana Robotics Innovation Center (TRIC) will be established by the state to oversee the implementation of the framework and act as a nodal point for executing the key pillars outlined in the framework.

Hyderabad court grants conditional bail to YSRTP leader Sharmila

A city court on Tuesday granted conditional bail to YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y. S. Sharmila, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody for assaulting police personnel on duty.

Hearing the bail petition of Sharmila, the Nampally court granted her conditional bail. She has been asked to submit two sureties each of Rs 30,000 and take permission from the court before going abroad.

The court had on Monday night sent her to judicial custody for 14 days. She was subsequently shifted to Chanchalguda Jail.

The sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was arrested on Monday morning when she allegedly assaulted police personnel while being detained for staging a protest without permission.

Sharmila allegedly manhandled two sub-inspectors and slapped a woman constable.

According to police, the driver of Sharmila’s car had not stopped the vehicle on their order and hit a constable injuring him.

Police had booked her and her two drivers under IPC section 353A(Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 509(Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 427 (Mischief causing damage).

The incident had occurred when police had gone to Sharmila’s house following information that she was going to the office of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question paper leak. Since there was no permission for Sharmila’s visit to the SIT office, the police did not allow her to leave the house. As she sat in protest on the road in front of her house, she was arrested.

The YSRTP leader was taken to Jubilee Hills police station. Later, her mother Y. S. Vijayamma went to the police station to meet her. When she was stopped by the police, she had an argument with them. A video shows Vijayamma slapping a woman police constable.

Prime Minister Modi appreciated the developments that Kerala is making in various sectors and said all that happens in the state will speed up the developments in the country.

“The Kochi Water Metro is one which was built under the Make in India program and congratulated the Cochin Shipyard Limited for building it this is going to be a model for the rest of the country and I am very happy for it,” said Modi.

He also said Kerala has been getting a huge increase in the allocation for railway development compared to the previous years.

Buddha’s teachings antidote for global problems: PM in address to Buddhist summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the current global situation is the most challenging as there is war, economic instability, terrorism, and religious fanaticism, adding that in such times, teachings of Buddha are the best solution for all such problems.

“This hope, this faith is the biggest strength of this earth. When this hope gets united, the Buddha’s Dhamma will become the world’s belief and Buddha’s realization will become the belief of humanity,” he said while addressing the inaugural session of the Global Buddhist Summit here.

Remembering the Buddhist path of theory, practice, and realization, the Prime Minister elaborated on India’s adoption of all three points in its journey in the last nine years of the NDA government.

Modi said that India has worked with dedication for the propagation of Lord Buddha’s teachings.

He mentioned about the peace missions and India’s efforts in rescue work during disasters like the earthquake in Turkey.

“This emotion of 140 crore Indians is being seen, understood, and accepted by the world”, Modi said.

EVs to replace all govt vehicles by 2030: Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said all state government vehicles will be gradually replaced with EVs by 2030.

To meet this target, departments have been told that purchase of EVs can be made without tendering, on the basis of nomination, and that if required, more than the maximum limit set for the purchase of EVs can also be spent.

A government spokesperson explained that the two provisions had been made because EVs are currently more expensive than diesel and petrol vehicles and therefore, there is a need to allow for additional expenditure on their purchase. This, he said, would be offset by the savings on fuel in later years

Andhra Pradesh administration to shift to Vizag in September: Jagan

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday announced that the state government will start functioning from Visakhapatnam in September this year.

He said he would be shifting to Visakhaptanam and would be staying there. He made the announcement while addressing a public meeting at Naupada in the Srikakulam district.

The chief minister said he would be moving from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam as part of the decentralization of power.

This is the first time that Jagan Mohan Reddy has specified a time period for shifting the administrative capital to the port city.

Last month, during the Global Investors Summit 2023 in Visakhapatnam, he declared that he would shortly move over to the city.

At the curtain raiser event in Delhi on January 31, the chief minister announced that Visakhapatnam will soon be the state capital.

Subsequently, Finance Minister B. Rajendranath Reddy had stated at another curtain raiser in Bengaluru that the YSRCP government decided on Visakhapatnam as the next capital of Andhra Pradesh. He had reportedly remarked that the state will not have three capitals.

This triggered speculations in political circles that the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government had given up the plan of three state capitals.

It was on December 17, 2019, that Jagan Mohan Reddy announced in the state Assembly that three state capitals will be developed reversing the decision of the previous TDP government to develop Amaravati as the state capital.

The YSRCP government mooted Visakhapatnam as the administrative capital, Kurnool as the judicial capital, and Amaravati as the legislative capital.

However, the protest by farmers of Amaravati over the shifting of the capital and the High Court order directing the government to develop Amaravati as the state capital had delayed the process.

On March 3, 2022, Andhra Pradesh High Court directed the state government to develop Amaravati as the state capital in six months. A bench of three judges had pronounced the judgment on 75 petitions filed by Amaravati farmers and others challenging the government’s move on three capitals.

However, the state government filed an appeal to the Supreme Court. In November last year, the Supreme Court stayed the High Court order saying the court cannot act like a town planner or an engineer.

Karnataka Assembly polls: Jagadish Shettar to declare final decision

As the two-day deadline given by senior leader and former Chief Minister Jagdish Shettar to the BJP to announce his candidature from the Hubballi-Dharwad Central constituency for the Karnataka Assembly polls ends on Saturday, the leader is likely to declare his future move.

Shettar has called the meeting of his followers and clearly stated that if a ticket is not issued, he will take his decision.

Shettar is an influential leader in the Kittur Karnataka region considered a bastion of the saffron party. He has been in active politics for four decades.

According to sources, the high command is asking him to retire from electoral politics on the lines of former ministers and senior leaders K.S. Eshwarappa, and Halady Srinivas Shetty.

Shettar has stated that during the talks with the National BJP President J.P. Nadda, he had asked him to issue the ticket to him in two days. “I will conduct a meeting of my followers and take their opinion. If the BJP party does not take a call, I will decide on a future course of action,” he stated.

The 16 members attached to Hubballi-Dharwad City Corporation had submitted resignations condemning the move of the high command.

Following the denial of the ticket from Athani constituency in Belagavi district, former Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi resigned from the post of MLC and joined the Congress. The Congress has announced the ticket for him and assured him that his respect and stature would be kept intact.

Savadi had stated that he will ask his followers not to take even his body anywhere near BJP’s office. The development is seen as a setback to the Karnataka BJP unit.

If BJP loses Shettar, it will seriously affect the party. The Congress is keeping its fingers crossed and keenly watching the development.

Sharmila offers to gift copy of Constitution to KCR

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) president YS Sharmila on Friday offered to gift a copy of the Constitution to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to advise him to read it and govern the state accordingly.

While paying tributes to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at Tank Bund on his birth anniversary, she lashed out at the Chief Minister for “insulting” the Constitution drafted by Babasaheb.

She slammed KCR for his utter “disregard in keeping promises” made to Dalits. She wanted to proceed to the Chief Minister’s official residence to gift him a copy of the Constitution but was stopped by the police.

“On this occasion, YSRTP is happy to gift Indian Constitution to KCR. We hope it opens his eyes and compels him to respect and implement the Constitution,” said Sharmila.

Sharmila alleged that KCR time and again insulted Babasaheb and the Constitution with his words and deeds.

“In Telangana, KCR’s constitution reigns supreme, where there is no freedom of speech and right to protest. KCR’s constitution is all about corruption, nepotism, and fake promises. From Dalit Chief Minister to Dalit Bandhu, Dalits have been cheated and neglected,” she said.

“The government has failed to keep a three-acre land promise, loans, and employment promises, empower SC Corporation, while atrocities and attacks on Dalits go unchecked in the state,” she claimed.
