Rashmika Mandanna is all set to take on one of the most challenging roles of her career as legendary Carnatic vocalist MS Subbulakshmi in an upcoming biopic. With the project generating considerable curiosity, all eyes are now on Rashmika’s first look as the iconic singer.
Recreating MS Subbulakshmi’s appearance will be a key aspect of the transformation. From her signature Kanjeevaram sarees and traditional jewellery to her neatly styled bun adorned with jasmine flowers, the legendary vocalist had a distinctive visual identity that remains instantly recognisable.
The casting also brings back memories of Mahanati. When Keerthy Suresh was announced as Savitri, the casting initially faced questions, but her eventual performance received widespread appreciation, and the film went on to become a major success. Rashmika now faces a similarly demanding task, with expectations surrounding her portrayal already building.
The much-awaited first look will be unveiled today at 5:30 PM during the film’s launch event in Chennai. Costume designer Neeraja Kona is handling Rashmika’s look, making the reveal particularly interesting for fans and cinema enthusiasts keen to see how closely the team has recreated MS Subbulakshmi’s iconic style.
Beyond physical resemblance, the bigger challenge will be capturing the grace, presence and personality associated with the legendary vocalist. The first look will offer the first glimpse of Rashmika’s transformation and give audiences an early idea of what to expect from the highly anticipated biopic.
