After sharing the screen in Maamannan and Nayakudu, versatile star Fahadh Faasil and legendary comedian Vadivelu teamed up once again for the drama-thriller Maareesan, directed by Sudheesh Sankar. Released in theatres on July 25, 2025, the film received positive reviews from critics but failed to create a major impact at the box office.

Now, Maareesan is available on Netflix, streaming in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam, with English subtitles also provided. With its intriguing genre and powerful star cast, the film is expected to gain solid traction on OTT. The theatrical-to-digital window was four weeks.

The movie also stars Kovai Sarala, Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, Renuka, and others in supporting roles. Produced by R.B. Choudhary under the Super Good Films banner, the film features music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Malhotra described Ramayana as a film that will resonate beyond cultural and religious boundaries, appealing equally to believers and non-believers. He even drew bold comparisons with Hollywood epics such as Avatar, Gladiator, and the works of Christopher Nolan, setting expectations sky-high.

Making a powerful statement, the producer added, “If people in the West don’t like it, I consider that a failure. It is meant for the world. If you don’t like it, shame on me; we should have done a better job.”
