RBI Gives Nod to HDFC Bank’s Stake Purchase in IndusInd

0

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given the green light to HDFC Bank to buy up to 9.5% of IndusInd Bank’s shares.

IndusInd Bank shared this news in a stock exchange filing, saying that RBI’s approval came through on February 5, 2024. This means that HDFC Bank can now acquire a stake in IndusInd Bank of up to 9.5% of its total shares or voting rights.

However, there’s a condition attached: If HDFC Bank’s stake in IndusInd Bank falls below 5%, they will need RBI’s approval to increase it back up to 5% or more.

This approval from RBI comes with certain rules that HDFC Bank must follow. These include obeying the Banking Regulation Act of 1949, RBI’s guidelines on shareholding in banks, rules under the Foreign Exchange Management Act of 1999, regulations set by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and other relevant laws and guidelines.

Railway Job Scam | 1 Arrested in Mumbai

0

The Western Railway’s Vigilance Department caught a man who tricked over 300 people out of about Rs 21 crore by promising them railway jobs, officials said.

They found out about the scam after keeping an eye on things for more than three months.

The officials set a trap with the help of someone outside the group and two other people who pretended to want railway jobs. They sent Rs 20,000 to the cheater’s account through Gpay to make him come to Mumbai Central Station to get the rest of the money.

And guess what? The guy showed up at 2 p.m. on Friday as planned and got caught trying to get more cash for the fake job. The railway officers found out that the crook took around Rs 9-10 lakh from each person and made fake documents with the help of someone from Kolkata.

They also saw that the crook’s phone had 180 blocked numbers, probably from the people he cheated. And there were about 120 chats where the victims asked for their money back, which was between Rs 5-8 lakh each, that they paid for the jobs.

They took all the fake papers, messages, and videos of the fake staff and they’re still looking into the scam, which took money from over 300 people, adding up to around Rs 21 crore. They gave the crook to the Government Railway Police at Mumbai Central and charged him with a bunch of crimes.

Telangana CM Appeals to Sonia Gandhi to Contest Lok Sabha Elections

0

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged former Congress president Sonia Gandhi to consider contesting the Lok Sabha Elections from Telangana. Alongside Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu and I&PR Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, he visited Sonia Gandhi at her residence in Delhi on Monday to convey the party State unit’s resolution requesting her candidacy. Sonia Gandhi expressed her intention to decide at an appropriate time.

Implementation of Election Promises and State Initiatives

Revanth Reddy briefed Sonia Gandhi on the successful implementation of promises by the Telangana government, notably the fulfillment of two out of six guarantees made before the elections. These include free bus travel for women and an increase in the Rajiv Arogyashri limit from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh, benefitting approximately 14 crore women. Additionally, he highlighted the upcoming initiatives such as the free power subsidy scheme and the Mahalakshmi scheme.

Focus on Social Welfare and Development

The Chief Minister emphasized his government’s commitment to social welfare and development initiatives. He announced plans for a BC Caste Census and sought support from NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bheri for the release of a grant amounting to Rs. 1800 crore to Telangana. He also urged cooperation for the Musi riverfront project and funding for drinking water supply. Furthermore, he discussed reforms in the medicine, health, and education sectors in the state.

Telangana CM Joins Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Jharkhand

0

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy participated in the “Manipur to Mumbai Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra” today, held in Ranchi, Jharkhand. During the event, he elucidated to Congress leaders the preparations undertaken by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing the implementation of two key initiatives: free bus travel for women and an increase in the Rajiv Arogyasri limit from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 15 lakh, as stated in an official announcement.

Request for Sonia Gandhi’s Candidacy

Furthermore, Rahul Gandhi was solicited to implore Congress leader Sonia Gandhi to contest from Telangana in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and State Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. Presently, the yatra, which has traversed five states predominantly by bus, is stationed in Jharkhand. Notably, the newly formed government under Champai Soren successfully navigated a floor test in the Jharkhand Assembly on Monday.

Alliance Triumph Amid Political Turmoil

Addressing the alliance’s triumph in the floor test, Rahul Gandhi criticized the BJP, alleging the party’s anti-tribal stance. He remarked, “Hemant Soren ji articulated a poignant sentiment in the Assembly today, ‘When we emerged from the forest and sat beside them, their clothes got soiled.’ This sentiment encapsulates the anguish of the entire tribal community. The BJP is evidently unwilling to accept the presence of a tribal Chief Minister in the state. Today, Jharkhand has sent a resounding message to the nation that the power of the people cannot be quashed by intimidation. This victory signifies unity among the impoverished and the tribal populace, and I extend my congratulations to all.”

Political Dynamics in Jharkhand

Jharkhand witnessed a brief spell of political turmoil subsequent to the arrest of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday evening, following seven hours of interrogation. Champai Soren, a senior JMM leader, was subsequently sworn in as Chief Minister on Friday afternoon. It is noteworthy that the Congress is a coalition partner in the ruling alliance of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), alongside the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
