AP Congress Launches Application Process for Lok Sabha Election
Starting the election process, the Andhra Pradesh Congress unit began accepting applications from candidates wanting to contest the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha Elections in a few months.
Manickam Tagore, AICC in-charge for AP, shared that, inspired by the Karnataka and Telangana Congress model, the Andhra Pradesh unit will charge Rs 15,000 as a “donation” from aspiring candidates of the reserved category and Rs 25,000 for others for Lok Sabha. For assembly tickets, it is Rs 10,000 for unreserved category candidates and Rs 5,000 for reserved.
Applications will be accepted for the next two weeks, he mentioned.
Tagore added that all applications will go through the Pradesh Election Committee and then the AICC screening committee. The final list will be sent to the Congress Central Election Committee led by President Mallikarjun Kharge.
“It (Congress) is a democratic party. Therefore, any Congress worker can apply,” Tagore said.
He noted a positive response from people wanting to contest on Congress tickets, and donations can be made through ‘Donate for Desh,’ an online crowdfunding campaign.
Andhra Pradesh has 175 assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats.
Meanwhile, former APCC chief G Rudraraju mentioned a tremendous response to the public for meetings with newly appointed state party president YS Sharmila.
Sharmila is currently touring north Andhra Pradesh to revive the Congress party’s fortunes. On Wednesday in Visakhapatnam, she alleged that her Chief Minister brother, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, failed to secure special status for Andhra Pradesh as promised during the state bifurcation in 2014.
On Tuesday, she traveled in an APSRTC bus from Palasa to Ichapuram, interacting with passengers and challenging the YSRCP government to show her the claimed development.
BRS MLAs Clarify Meeting with Chief Minister for Public Welfare
BRS MLAs from Medak district clarified on Wednesday that meeting Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was solely to address issues in their constituencies. Sunitha Laxma Reddy (Narsapur), K Prabhakar Reddy (Dubbak), G Mahipal Reddy (Patancheru), and Manik Rao (Zaheerabad) stated in a joint press conference that their visit aimed to represent the public and protocol issues.
They emphasized that meeting the Chief Minister and other Ministers for constituency development is not wrong. They affirmed their loyalty to the BRS party and denied any plans to switch to Congress. They assured their commitment to the BRS party till the end.
The MLAs clarified they had BRS leadership’s approval to meet Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and asserted their confidence in the party leadership. They expressed their right to interact with ministers for the state’s development.
They reported discussing irrigation projects in Medak district with the Chief Minister and expressed their willingness to meet him or other ministers again if needed. They highlighted informing the intelligence chief about protocol issues faced in their constituencies.
Sunita Laxma Reddy stated, “I am a disciplined leader working for the party. Baseless attributions are an attempt to defame us. We will file a defamation case against those responsible.” She explained the need for gunmen and discussed various issues with the Chief Minister.
TSRTC’s 60 Special Buses for India vs England Test Match
For the big cricket match between India vs England at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal from January 25 to January 29, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has arranged 60 special buses. These buses are dedicated to making it easier for people to watch the match at the Stadium.
The goal is to make it more convenient for spectators traveling to the International Test Match venue in the city. Besides the regular buses going to Uppal via RGIC stadium, there are 60 special buses from different locations.
These special buses will follow specific routes, connecting the Stadium to various areas, including Ghatkesar, NGOs Colony, Ibrahimpatnam, Lab Quarters, Koti, Afzalgunj, Lakdikapool, Dilsukhnagar, Jeedimetla, Kukatpally Housing Board, Medchal, Miyapur, Jubilee Bus Station, ECIL X Roads, Bowenpally, Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Kondapur, BHEL, and LB Nagar.
The bus services will start at 8:00 am from different places to the stadium. After the match, these buses will be available for the return journey, with return services starting at 7:00 pm.
