Animal Box Office to cross 500Cr mark

Animal defies expectations, holding strong against Salaar and Dunki, and eyes the coveted 500 Cr mark.

Despite the arrival of two much-anticipated blockbusters, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and Prabhas’ Salaar, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal continues to impress at the box office. Trade experts predicted a decline for Animal, but it has defied expectations, collecting a strong 2 Cr+ net in India even on a weekday.

Bolstered by its solid performance and the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, Animal Box Office is poised to join the exclusive 500 Cr club. It has already crossed this milestone when considering all languages and needs just 22 Cr net more in Hindi to achieve it in that category as well. This feat would solidify Animal’s place among cinematic giants like Baahubali 2, Pathaan, Gadar 2, and Jawan.

The film’s resilience and consistent draw for audiences demonstrate its strong connection with moviegoers. Animal’s success proves that even amidst fierce competition, quality content can find its way to the hearts of viewers and achieve remarkable results.

Hyderabad Crime: Witnessed a rise in specific crimes

0

Hyderabad Crime: While the overall crime rate in Hyderabad only saw a modest 2% increase in 2023 compared to the previous year, certain categories like cyber crimes, financial scams, and offenses against women witnessed a sharp rise.

Officials, however, attribute this increase to the city’s growing population.

The Commissioner of Police, K Sreenivasa Reddy, highlighted the department’s efforts to combat crime, including establishing new police stations and forming specialized teams for prevention and detection.

Despite the overall increase, there were some positive aspects:

  • Increased reporting: More people felt comfortable reporting crimes, leading to a higher number of registered cases (24,821 in 2023 compared to 21,795 previously).
  • Focus on specific crimes: Dedicated efforts led to a rise in the detection of property offenses and recovery of stolen property.
  • Declining POCSO cases: There was a positive trend in the decline of cases registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Sreenivasa Reddy acknowledged a 16% increase in bodily offenses, attributing it partially to elections held during the year.

While the overall crime rate remained marginally higher, the significant rise in specific categories and the acknowledgment of challenges by authorities highlight the need for continued focus and targeted strategies to ensure Hyderabad’s safety and security.

Prabhas Salaar Review

Release Date: December 22, 2023

Rating: 3.25/5

Starring: Prabhas, Prithviraj, Shruti Haasan, Tinu Anand, Eshwari Rao, Jagapathi Babu, Sriya Reddy, Garuda Ram

Director: Prashanth Neel

Producer: Vijay Kiragandur

Music Director: Ravi Basrur

Cinematographer: Bhuvan Gowda

Editor: Ujwal Kulkarni

After a three-year wait, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, the highly anticipated collaboration of Prabhas and Prashanth Neel, finally hit the big screens worldwide today amidst high expectations. Let’s dive into our review to see if the film lives up to the hype.

Story:

Deva (Prabhas) leads a simple life with a mysterious past, residing with his mother in Tinsukia. The peace is disrupted when a gang searches for Aadhya (Shruti Haasan), a newcomer in town. Deva discovers that his best friend Varadharaja Mannar (Prithviraj Sukumaran) in Khansaar city is behind the scheme. The conflict escalates, raising questions. Who is Aadhya? What connects her to Varadharaj? What caused the rift between the two friends? The movie unfolds the answers.

Plus Points:

After a long break, fans finally see Prabhas in a full-fledged action film, skillfully presented by Prashanth Neel, who knows how to showcase Prabhas in a way fans love.

Prabhas fits perfectly into the role of Deva aka Salaar, making it difficult to imagine another actor in the part. His character involves minimal dialogue but oozes violence, showcasing his physique, dialogue delivery, and overall fan-friendly persona. Prabhas’ intense and ruthless behavior, especially in action scenes, keeps the audience engaged.

Prithviraj Sukumaran delivers a solid performance, adding depth to the film. His proficiency in Telugu and compelling scenes with Prabhas enhance the viewing experience.

The first half has a strong impact, featuring Prashanth Neel’s signature fast-paced and engaging screenplay. Impressive action sequences, along with a good score, create moments that fans will cheer for.

Minus Points:

While the story maintains a decent pace in the first half, the second half could have benefited from a more polished narration. Some scenes in the second hour might remind viewers of KGF, affecting the film’s originality.

Despite a strong supporting cast, Prashanth Neel mainly highlights certain actors, sidelining others who could have had more significant roles.

The abundance of violence in the second half may not resonate well with family audiences.

Technical Aspects:

Prashanth Neel again showcases his directing skills, using simple scenes to highlight heroism. A more focused approach to the story and screenplay in the second half could have improved the overall narrative.

Ravi Basrur’s music adds to the scenes, and Bhuvan Gowda’s cinematography is commendable. Anbarivu’s stunts are a highlight. While Ujwal Kulkarni’s editing could have been smoother in the second half, the production values are commendable.

Verdict:

Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire stands out as an intense action drama featuring a fantastic performance by Prabhas, especially in action scenes, and Prithviraj. Well-executed stunts add to the film’s appeal. However, the simple narrative, a somewhat slow second half, and excessive violence are noticeable drawbacks. If you are a fan of Prabhas or enjoy high-energy action movies, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire is worth watching this weekend.

Santa Visits the Charminar: Hyderabad’s Unconventional Christmas

0

Christmas magic is ablaze in Hyderabad! The air hums with carols, streets sparkle with lights, and churches brim with nativity scenes. As the city prepares for Jesus’ birth, a vibrant tapestry of traditions unfolds.

Churches Lead the Way:

Since Advent began, choirs have filled churches with melodious carols, and candlelit services have ushered in a spirit of reflection. Four candles lit, one for each Sunday, now await their companion on Christmas Day.

St. John the Baptist church, boasting the city’s only functioning pipe organ, hosted a grand “Festival of Nine Lessons” with a 106-member choir, its historic walls echoing with timeless hymns.

From the city’s oldest Tamil church, Christ Church, to the 160-year-old St. George’s Church, every edifice resonates with festive cheer. Carol singing, nativity plays, and even a Christmas procession at CSI Wesley Church paint the city with joyous anticipation.

A City Dressed in Merriment:

Homes don their finest decorations, and markets overflow with festive delights, enticing residents to join the celebration. The aroma of culinary treats mingles with the joyous bustle, adding to the city’s charm.

The Pipe Organ’s Song:

St. John’s pride, the 1908 pipe organ, once silenced in 1994, found its voice again through retired naval officer Commodore TMJ Champion and English engineer Dr. Timothy Velacott. Their dedication restored the instrument, and Dr. Velacott’s meticulous care ensures its melodious presence at every mass.

Chief organist Virender Joshua, inheriting the mantle from Commodore Champion, emphasizes the organ’s vital role in enhancing hymns and adhering to the church’s Anglican roots. Its soulful notes weave through the festivities, adding a touch of timeless elegance.

Hyderabad’s Christmas is a symphony of traditions, music, and community, where the spirit of the season shines bright in every corner.

CM Revanth Reddy Demands Irrigation Project Report, Warns of Transparency

0

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy held a tight grip on irrigation projects, demanding a detailed report from officials during a review meeting. Joined by key ministers and senior officials, he sought a comprehensive breakdown of project construction, costs, and new ayacut created from 1956 to 2023, highlighting both pre- and post-2014 periods.

CM Revanth Reddy’s stern message was clear: suppress facts about these projects and face the consequences. He demanded meticulous data compilation, ensuring public access to guidelines for each project. Transparency, he emphasized, is the cornerstone of his government’s decisions, and keeping people informed about every step is crucial.

This move signals a strong commitment to accountability and openness in managing Telangana’s vital irrigation infrastructure. Reddy’s demand for a comprehensive report and his stance on transparency suggests a potential shift in the state’s approach to these crucial projects.

Stock Market: Markets fall in early trade on weak global trends

0

Stock prices fell again today, just like yesterday. This is because:

Stocks in India lost ground today. The Sensex fell 586 points to 69,920, and the Nifty dropped 173 points to 20,976.

  • Global markets are not doing well: Other countries’ stock markets are also going down, which makes our market shaky.
  • Foreign investors are selling Indian stocks: They are taking their money out of India, which reduces demand for stocks and makes them cheaper.
  • The recent rally was too good to last: Stock prices had been going up a lot recently, so some investors are taking profits now before prices fall further.

The main losers were companies like Axis Bank, Larsen & Toubro, and ICICI Bank. The only ones that went up were Power Grid, Reliance Industries, and Nestle.

Overall, it was a bad day for the Indian stock market, but it’s not unusual for prices to fluctuate. We’ll have to see what happens tomorrow!

Salaar Second Song: A Look at the Hero and More!

Get ready for “Salaar”! Before the movie even hit theaters, the makers released a new song called “Prathikadalo.” It’s all about the main character, and the lyrics are deep and cool, written by the talented Krishna Kanth. Even the kids who sang it did an amazing job! Plus, the music by Ravi Basrur is super catchy.

But the best part of the song? Prabhas‘s look! He’s on fire in this video, looking even better than he did in “Baahubali 2.” The song ends with a powerful message: “Victories don’t come from fighting. They come from forgiveness.” It seems like the characters played by Shruti Haasan and Eswari Rao will be really important in the movie too.

Remember, “Salaar” is directed by the same guy who made “Kantara” and “KGF,” so you know it’s going to be good! It also has a bunch of other great actors like Prithviraj Sukumaran and Jagapathi Babu.

So mark your calendars, “Salaar” is coming soon! Get ready for action, drama, and some awesome music.

Dunki Review: Adventure with a Funny Flawed Journey

0

Starring: Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, and more

Director: Rajkumar Hirani

Story: Four people from Punjab dream of going to London. They learn English and meet Hardy, a soldier who helps them cross the border illegally. The film follows their journey and explores the reasons behind their choices.

Plus Points:

  • Laugh Out Loud: The first half is packed with funny scenes, typical of Hirani’s style. It’s a fast-paced ride without any dull moments.
  • SRK Shines: Shah Rukh Khan delivers a great performance, especially in a courtroom scene. He’s not just a star, he’s a skilled actor too.
  • Solid Cast: Taapsee Pannu and others hold their own alongside SRK. The film also sheds light on a less-known issue.
  • Second Half Moments: There are some good scenes in the later part too.

Minus Points:

  • Emotionally Lacking: The film tackles a difficult topic, but Hirani’s usual emotional punch isn’t quite there. It doesn’t hit as hard as his previous works.
  • Missed Potential: Vicky Kaushal’s cameo could have been more impactful, and the interval sequence isn’t as effective as it could be.
  • Technical Glitches: The CGI is shaky in some places, and the editing feels like it left out some important details about SRK’s character.

Overall:

Dunki is a decent film with a unique concept and plenty of laughs. While it’s not Hirani’s best work, it’s still enjoyable thanks to the humor and strong performances. If you’re okay with some flaws, you’ll have a good time. Shah Rukh Khan fans especially won’t be disappointed.

Bonus: The film also clashes with another big release, Salaar, adding to the excitement!
