Australia sent a strong message of readiness for the World Cup as they defeated Pakistan by 14 runs in a warm-up match held at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
Despite allowing fans to attend the match after the initial game between Pakistan and New Zealand was played behind closed doors, the turnout remained low.
Australia batted first, with Glenn Maxwell (77) and Cameron Green (50 not out) both scoring half-centuries to propel their team to a formidable total of 351 for 7. Australian openers David Warner (48) and Mitchel Marsh (31) got off to a smooth start, forming an 83-run partnership for the first wicket.
To disrupt their flow, Pakistan’s captain Shadab Khan brought in Usman Mir (2 for 31), who dismissed Warner and Marsh in quick succession. Marnus Labuschagne contributed a crucial 40 runs off 31 balls before being caught by wicket-keeper Mohammad Haris off Mohammad Nawaz’s bowling.
Maxwell’s 71-ball innings included four boundaries and sixes, but he was eventually dismissed by Shadab (1 for 69). Green then anchored the innings with his excellent performance, while Josh Inglis (48) shared an 83-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Inglis fell in the 49th over to Mohammad Wasim (1 for 69), but Green’s two boundaries in the final over helped Australia cross the 350-run mark.
In response, Pakistan faced early setbacks, losing openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq within the first seven overs, leaving them at 49 for 2 after 10 overs. Despite favorable batting conditions, Australia’s bowlers kept the Pakistan top order in check. The first six of the innings came from Shadab’s bat at 14.5 overs, but he was dismissed immediately after.
Iftikhar Ahmed scored 83 off 85 balls with six fours and four sixes, while Babar Azam contributed a quickfire 90 off 59 balls, featuring 11 boundaries and two sixes. Their 144-run partnership for the fifth wicket put Pakistan back on track, but Babar retired hurt when his team reached 255 for 5. Mohammad Nawaz added 50 runs in 42 balls with six fours and one six, but their efforts ultimately fell short. Marnus Labuschagne took three wickets, conceding 78 runs.
David Warner, the former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain, delighted fans with his dance moves during the match as he grooved to the Telugu movie song “Butta Bomma” while fielding near the boundary in the second innings. Fans in the front rows cheered his dance with enthusiasm.

Kynan Darius Chenai didn’t have much time to revel in his victory. Shortly after securing a bronze medal in the Trap Men’s final at the ongoing Asian Games, he boarded a flight back to Hyderabad. For Kynan, celebration means being with his family and sharing a meal. “I find joy in sitting down for a nice meal with my family,” says Kynan, the Indian trap shooter, during an interview with Hyderabad Chronicle.
The Indian men’s team, including Kynan Chenai, Prithviraj Tondaiman, and Zoravar Singh Sandhu, clinched the gold medal with an Asian Games record score of 361 in the qualification round. Both Chenai and Zoravar also qualified for the six-shooter finals, raising hopes of a gold-silver finish. However, it resulted in Kynan winning an individual bronze, while Zoravar finished in fifth place.
“We had ample time to adjust to the weather and lighting conditions, which helped me maintain my focus,” mentions Chenai, who topped the qualification round and contributed to the team’s gold medal win. The remaining two teammates also delivered outstanding performances. I didn’t expect to win, but I aimed for it,” he says with a smile.
During a part of the competition, Kynan held the second spot, hitting 18 out of 20 targets, while Zoravar scored 17 out of 20. However, both shooters experienced a downturn, with Zoravar being eliminated after hitting 23 out of 30 targets, and Chenai n narrowly missing out on a medal.
I thrive in high-pressure situations, and the Asian Games presented one of those demanding contests. It’s a collective team effort that brought us the gold. In the finals, the margin for error is minimal, making it challenging,” explains the 32-year-old shooter, who is delighted to return with a medal.
Kynan used a Perazzi shotgun, known for its top-tier Italian craftsmanship and high cost.
Kynan primarily trains in Hyderabad and occasionally joins an international coach, David Kostelecki, a two-time Olympic Games medalist who resides in the Czech Republic, whenever circumstances allow.
Kynan comes from a well-known Parsi family; his father, Darius Chenai, a businessman, was a former national shooting champion, and his mother, Dinaz Noria, is a renowned wedding decor designer.
Introduced to the sport by his father at the age of 12, Kynan initially took up shooting for fun, but it gradually evolved into an obsession by the time he turned 16. He attended Hebron, a boarding school in Ooty, for 10 years and was actively involved in various sports, including field hockey, football, and freestyle swimming, but eventually, shooting became his main focus. Later, he pursued higher studies at Brunel University in London.
Looking ahead, Kynan has his sights set on qualifying for the Paris Olympics in 2024. He secured a victory in the Asia Olympic qualifiers held in Delhi in January 2016 and also competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, where he finished 19th in the men’s Trap event.
Kynan’s Thrilling Shooting Performance
Kynan enjoys playing video games but limits his screen time to once a week due to concerns about eye health. His primary focus remains on his shooting, with fitness being a top priority. He attributes his fitness regimen to Dr. Matthew Zane, who not only designs his fitness programs but also monitors his workouts daily.
Outside of shooting, Chenai and his father often go camping, and he can also be spotted on the shooting range or playing football with friends.
Modi: BRS Denied NDA Entry, I Rejected KTR as CM in Nizamabad:
Prime Minister Modi in Nizamabad: BRS Denied Entry into NDA, Rejects K.T. Rama Rao as Chief Minister
During a public gathering in Nizamabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed that BRS supremo and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had distanced himself after Modi strongly opposed the idea of an “undemocratic anointment” of K.T. Rama Rao as Chief Minister. Modi also raised concerns about alleged corruption within the Chief Minister’s family and the denial of entry to the party into the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Modi made a striking claim that BRS had utilized its allegedly ill-gotten funds, obtained by exploiting the people of Telangana, to support the Congress party’s victory in Karnataka, As part of a concealed understanding between the two political factions.
He urged the public to give his party a chance to serve for five years and witness the promised change. Modi pledged to uncover any wrongdoing by BRS and hold its corrupt leaders accountable.
Modi then surprised the audience by hinting at a secret he hadn’t revealed before, urging the media to investigate further.
He reminisced about the warm welcome he received from Chandrashekar Rao in the past, who used to greet him with grand garlands at the airport. However, their relationship soured when Modi declined to admit Rao’s party into the NDA and rejected his request for support in the GHMC mayorship election.
Modi also recounted an incident where Chandrashekar Rao sought his blessing to appoint K.T. Rama Rao as Chief Minister. Modi firmly reminded Rao that in a democracy, leaders are elected by the people, not appointed as heirs, which apparently strained their relationship further.
Modi BRS Denied NDA Entry, I Rejected KTR as CM in Nizamabad-1
The Prime Minister accused Chandrashekar Rao’s administration of turning “loktantra” (democracy) into “loot-tantra” and “prajatantra” (republic) into “parivar-tantra” (family rule). He criticized the alleged misuse of power to benefit a single family at the expense of the aspirations of those who had sacrificed for Telangana’s statehood.
Modi cautioned against family rule, explaining that when a family controls the state machinery, it tends to fill it with its own members, denying countless capable youths the recognition they deserve.
KTR, the Working President of BRS, criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what he called a blatant display of dishonesty. He accused the PM of diminishing the dignity of his position with his falsehoods, labeling the Modi-led BJP as the biggest source of false promises and grandiose claims in the country.
KTR vehemently denied the notion of aligning with the NDA and dismissed PM Modi’s claim that CM KCR sought his approval for KTR’s appointment as CM. He criticized the Prime Minister’s inconsistency and questioned the PM’s selective focus on BRS while ignoring other potential alliances.
KTR also took aim at the Prime Minister’s comments on family politics, pointing out examples of other political families that could potentially align with the NDA. He mentioned that Jay Shah’s appointment as BCCI secretary was also a case of family involvement in politics.
Furthermore, KTR highlighted PM Modi’s habit of criticizing the Chief Ministers of the states he visits, accusing him of labeling them as corrupt leaders. He asserted that the BJP had a reputation for making empty promises and indulging in high rhetoric.
Rama Rao pointed to unfulfilled promises made by PM Modi for 2022, including doubling farm income, achieving a five trillion-dollar economy, providing housing for all, creating 2 crore jobs annually, and recovering black money.
Regarding Telangana, Rama Rao claimed that PM Modi had done nothing for the state, citing issues related to irrigation projects, ITIR, and Telangana’s recognition. He expressed confidence that the BJP would perform poorly in the upcoming Telangana elections, even predicting the loss of deposits in numerous seats.
KTR also asserted that the NDA was a sinking ship, with several parties leaving the alliance. He questioned the status of cases against individuals such as Hemanth Biswas, Srujana Choudary, and Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Finally, KTR expressed confidence in BRS’s continued success in Telangana elections, with CM KCR securing a third term. He emphasized CM KCR’s integrity and stated that he would not associate with someone like Modi, whom he accused of being a habitual liar.
