India’s Squad for the India vs. Australia ODI Series:

Experienced off-spinner R Ashwin has staged a comeback to the Indian ODI team for the upcoming three-match series against Australia. He will be vying with Washington Sundar for a potential spot in the World Cup squad if Axar Patel fails to recover in time for the global event.

In an effort to ensure their key players are mentally refreshed for the World Cup starting on October 5, senior players like captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and spinner Kuldeep Yadav have been rested for the first two games against Australia. K L Rahul will lead the side in these initial matches before Rohit Sharma returns to captain a full-strength squad for the third and final ODI, which serves as a World Cup preparation game.

The selection of R Ashwin, who last played an ODI in January 2022, is seen as a contingency plan in case Axar Patel doesn’t recover from his quadriceps tear sustained during the Asia Cup. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar mentioned that both Ashwin and Washington Sundar are being considered as potential replacements if Axar is unable to regain fitness by the September 28 deadline set by the International Cricket Council.

Captain Rohit Sharma clarified that a proven performer like Ashwin can be brought into the team if needed.

Ashwin, who had been absent from the India ODI squad since the 2017 Champions Trophy, returned last year for the ODI series in South Africa but was subsequently sidelined again. Shreyas Iyer, who faced a back spasm and could only play two games in the Asia Cup, is also available for all three ODIs.

The first ODI is scheduled for September 22 in Mohali, the second in Indore on September 24, and the third in Rajkot on September 27. Following these matches, India will play two World Cup warm-up games against England and Netherlands on September 30 and October 3 in Guwahati and Trivandrum before their tournament opener against Australia in Chennai on October 8.

India Dismisses Canada’s Accusation Regarding Diplomat Expulsion:

In response to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau‘s recent expulsion of a high-ranking Indian diplomat over allegations related to the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a figure associated with Khalistani terrorism, India has vehemently refuted the accusations. Arindam Bagchi, the Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, issued a statement denouncing Canada’s claims as unfounded and driven by hidden agendas.

India’s official statement firmly rejected Canada’s allegations:

We have noted and dismissed the statements made by the Canadian Prime Minister in their Parliament and by their Foreign Minister.

Accusations of the Government of India’s involvement in any acts of violence in that country are baseless and appear to be motivated by ulterior motives. Similar allegations were previously made by the Canadian Prime Minister to our Prime Minister and were unequivocally dismissed.

We are a democratic nation with a strong commitment to the rule of law.

Such unverified allegations seem intended to divert attention away from Khalistani terrorists and extremists who have found refuge in Canada and continue to pose a threat to India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Canadian Government’s lack of action on this matter has been an ongoing and persistent concern.

The fact that Canadian political figures have openly expressed sympathy for such elements is a matter of serious concern.

Canada’s history of tolerating various illegal activities, including murders, human trafficking, and organized crime, is not a new issue.

We reject any efforts to link the Government of India to these developments.

We call on the Government of that country to swiftly and effectively take legal measures against all anti-India elements operating from their territory.”

Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the individual in question, had been leading the Khalistani Tiger Force and the Canadian branch of Sikhs For Justice (SFJ). He was fatally shot near a gurdwara in Surrey by unidentified assailants in June.

Nijjar had been sought by Indian authorities for his purported role as the “architect” of the Khalistani Tiger Force, an organization designated as a terrorist group in India.

The circumstances surrounding his death have sparked a diplomatic dispute between India and Canda, with India firmly denying any involvement in the incident and calling for action against those who pose a security threat from Canadian soil.

Modi Cabinet Approves Women’s Reservation Bill:

In a momentous decision, the Union Cabinet, on Monday, approved the Women’s Reservation Bill (WRB).

Prahlad Patel, the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, and Jal Shakti confirmed this significant development on a social media platform but later deleted the post.

He had originally posted, “Only the Modi government had the moral courage to meet the demand for women’s reservation, as demonstrated by the cabinet’s approval. Kudos to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accolades to the Modi government.”

The Constitution Amendment Bill aims to allocate one-third (33 percent) of the total seats in state legislative Assemblies and Parliament for women. The bill also suggests a sub-reservation within the 33 percent quota for SCs and STs. These reserved seats may be rotated among different constituencies in the state or union territory.

Reacting to this development, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh posted on social media, “The Congress party has long advocated for the implementation of women’s reservation. We appreciate the news of the Union Cabinet’s decision and are looking forward to the specifics of the Bill. It would have been beneficial if this matter had been deliberated in an all-party meeting prior to the Special Session, allowing for the formation of a consensus rather than operating in a secretive manner.”

Numerous governments, including those led by Rajiv Gandhi, Deve Gowda, Atal Behari Vajpayee, and Manmohan Singh, had attempted to pass a law on women’s reservation but faced strong opposition from parties in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

PM Modi Launches Rs 13,000 Crore Vishwakarma Scheme:

On Vishwakarma Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the “PM Vishwakarma” scheme, offering low-interest loans without collateral to traditional craftsmen and artisans.

The scheme, with a budget of Rs 13,000 crores over five years, will benefit approximately 30 lakh families of traditional artisans, including weavers, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, laundry workers, and barbers.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized the enduring significance of Vishwakarma in Indian society, irrespective of technological advancements.

During the launch, the Prime Minister provided Vishwakarma certificates to 18 beneficiaries, who are eligible for collateral-free loans up to Rs 3 lakhs at a concessional rate of 5 percent. He also unveiled a custom stamp sheet, an e-booklet toolkit, and a video.

Prime Minister invited the global film and television industry and event management companies to organize events at Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi.

In the launch of PM Vishwakarma, Modi underscored the importance of Vishwakarmas in the country’s daily life and announced Rs 13,000 crores for 18 focus areas of artisans and craftsmen.

He emphasized the “vocal for local” initiative and urged people to buy local products during upcoming festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Dhanteras, and Diwali.

Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence that Bharat Mandapam and Yasobhoomi will become symbols of India’s hospitality and grandeur, showcasing the nation’s cultural heritage to the world.

New research from LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network, reveals that generative AI innovations are driving professionals in India to adapt to new ways of working. A significant majority, 81%, believe their jobs will undergo “significant” changes in the next year due to AI. While this has caused some uncertainty, with 60% of professionals feeling overwhelmed and 39% worried about keeping up with AI developments, most are willing to embrace the shift.

Seventy-one percent express a desire to learn more about AI, even if they are unsure where to begin. Already, 68% of the workforce uses generative AI in their jobs, with 50% utilizing tools like ChatGPT. Millennials (54%) and GenZ (46%) professionals lead in ChatGPT usage.

A survey of Indian professionals also found that 66% believe they should know more about AI, possibly due to the perception that their colleagues are better informed (65%). Despite the barriers, 98% are excited to use AI at work, anticipating it will positively impact their careers (97%).

Assam Police Uncovers International Online Scamming Racket:

In a significant development, the Assam Police‘s crime branch has successfully dismantled a massive international online scamming operation operating from various locations in Guwahati and its surroundings. This operation led to the arrest of a total of 191 individuals, comprising 47 females and three masterminds.

Guwahati’s Commissioner of Police, Diganta Barah, revealed that the police had been diligently working to uncover this racket over the past few weeks. He informed reporters that police teams conducted raids at eight different locations, including residences, commercial buildings, and shopping malls, resulting in the confiscation of 164 desktop computers, 90 laptops, 26 mobile phones, and various electronic devices. Barah emphasized that these raids were meticulously planned by a team of investigators. The operations commenced on Thursday night and continued through Friday afternoon.

The arrested individuals are aged between 21 and 25 years old. The three masterminds behind the operation were also apprehended during the raids. They have been identified as Debajyoti Dey, alias David, from Karimganj (aged 30-31), Rajen Sidana from Ludhiana (owner of two call centers), and Dibyam Arora from Delhi (aged 31). The raids took place in various parts of Guwahati, including Bamunimaidan, Borbari, Rajgarh, Gandhibasti, ABC Point, and Ganeshguri, where several incriminating documents were recovered as evidence.

In addition, a call center located in Rajgarh’s Borbora complex, allegedly under the name of Tasdiqur Rahman and operating from Noida, was also raided. Police detained 21 individuals from there, with only three hailing from Assam. It has been revealed that these fraudulent call centers had international connections, collaborating with criminal groups in Delhi, Gurgaon, and other locations. Online scammers are targeting online gamers who are working always on online games.

The victims of this scam included both Indian and international individuals, with financial losses incurred, often involving payments in dollars. The scammers would transfer these funds to other accounts via hawala channels. The investigation exposed that the scammers frequently relocated their call centers to different areas to evade detection. Recruitment for these operations primarily occurred via social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Employees of these centers received incentives based on the number of successful scams they carried out.

The scammers’ methods involved deploying tech-support personnel and utilizing pop-up ads and toll-free numbers to deceive victims into believing they were contacting legitimate service centers. Some victims fell for these traps, providing scammers access to their devices and sensitive personal information. Scammers would then coerce victims into making payments through Bitcoin or gift vouchers. Commissioner Barah also issued a caution to property owners, urging them to be vigilant when renting out their buildings to prevent the establishment of such illegal operations. He indicated that more individuals connected to the scamming network would be arrested soon, as the police continued their efforts to dismantle the entire operation.

“Gam Gam Ganesha,” an upcoming new-age thriller starring Anand Deverakonda, is generating buzz following his recent blockbuster “Baby” (2023). Anand Deverakonda, known for his continuous growth in the Telugu film industry since his debut, continues to surprise audiences with his diverse choice of scripts.

In “Gam Gam Ganesha,” he shares the screen with Pragati Srivastava as the female lead. The film’s official teaser was released online, showcasing actor in a youthful role with a distinct appearance and acting style compared to his previous work in “Baby.” The teaser promises an entertaining blend of fun and thrilling elements.

Uday Bommisetty serves as both the writer and director of “Gam Gam Ganesha,” while Kedar Selagamsetty and Vamsi Karumanchi take on producer roles. The film’s music is composed by Chaitan Bharadwaj, with Aditya Javvadi as the cinematographer and Karthika Srinivas R. as the editor.

The movie also boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Nayan Sarika, Emmanuel, Vennela Kishore, Raj Arjun, and Satyam Rajesh.

Random Dog Attacks in Shamshabad Leave 5 Children Injured:

On Friday, six children fell victim to dog attacks in two separate incidents. One incident took place in Jawaharnagar, resulting in an injured child. Meanwhile, in various colonies in Shamshabad, five cases of dog bites were reported, all occurring in the evening.

The areas in Shamshabad where these incidents occurred encompassed Narsingh Mandir Basti, Khaji Galli, Makhta Bahudri Ali Basti, Haimadnagar, and Sajid Colony.

Some of the seriously injured children were swiftly taken to Osmania Hospital by their parents, while others received treatment near their residences.

This alarming incident served as a grim reminder of a similar event in Madhuranagar back in December 2021 when nearly 30 children were attacked by a animal. Concerns about the safety of children in many areas of Shamshabad were reignited following this incident. Chintala Nanda Kishore, a Shamshabad resident, expressed, “Stray dogs are abundant in most of our colonies here, and their aggressiveness has been increasing in recent days.” He added, “Many residents have reported the issue to the authorities, but there has been no relief.”

Civic authorities have responded to this situation similarly to previous incidents. They explained, “Authorities are continually conducting drives, and captured animals are sterilized and then released after receiving vaccinations.”

Dr. M. Madhusudhan, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry and a veterinary expert, issued a cautionary advisory, stating, “People need to exercise caution during the monsoon season, particularly concerning children. These animal may attack anyone, but children are more susceptible to severe injuries.”

Expanding on this, he added, “In the monsoon season, both male and female dogs can experience heightened agitation due to mating. Male dogs may exhibit increased competitiveness, and their aggression may be redirected toward people.

Two Terrorists Killed in Ongoing Kashmir Encounter:

On Saturday, an encounter between security forces and two terrorists occurred near the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the death of the terrorists, as reported by the police.

The confrontation took place in the Hathlanga forward area within the Uri sector of this northern Kashmir district. Presently, a search operation is being conducted in the vicinity. The DistrictZone Police, via a post on X, informed the public about the initiation of an encounter between arsonists and the Army and Baramulla Police in the forward area of Uri, Hathlanga, with in the Baramulla district.

In subsequent updates, the police confirmed that two arsonists had been killed during the encounter and stated that a search operation was ongoing in the region. Details regarding the identities and group affiliations of the deceased arsonists are yet to be determined, according to the police.

Tollywood star Akkineni Naga Chaitanya has recently taken ownership of the prestigious motorsport racing squad, Hyderabad Blackbirds (HBB). This team, renowned for its performance in the Indian Racing League, is all set to participate in the inaugural season of the Formula 4 Indian Championship. This exciting new endeavor is being organized and promoted by Racing Promotions Private Limited (RPPL).

Sri Lanka’s high-performing bowler, Maheesh Theekshana, is highly likely to be absent from the Asia Cup final against India, which is scheduled for Sunday. Prof. Arjuna de Silva, the head of the medical panel for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), confirmed that the 23-year-old right-arm off-spinner is doubtful for the final due to a hamstring injury.

He noted that although the team management might have considered risking his participation in Sunday’s match, it’s more prudent to rest him, especially with the World Cup on the horizon. The priority is to ensure his fitness for the upcoming World Cup. Explaining the potential reasons behind his injury, Professor Arjuna de Silva pointed out that Theekshana has been engaged in continuous cricketing activities.

He has been part of various tournaments, including the IPL, LPL, home matches against Afghanistan, qualifying matches in Zimbabwe, and the T20i squad during the New Zealand tour earlier this year. Theekshana has an impressive record, having taken 83 wickets across all three formats of the game.

Telangana Schools and Colleges Announce Dasara Holiday Dates:

Dasara stands as the most significant festival in Telangana, marked by its extended and elaborate celebrations, partly due to the coincidence with another important festival, Batukamma, which falls in the same month. To accommodate these festivities, the government proactively announces holidays for schools, colleges, and offices.

In the recently released academic calendar for 2023-24, the Education Department reduced Dasara holidays to 13 days, down from the 14 days observed in the previous year. In 2023, Festival holidays are scheduled from October 14 to October 25, with schools and colleges set to reopen on October 26 (Thursday).

Additionally, the Christmas holidays have been shortened from 7 to 5 days. Sankranti day-offs are slated to span from January 12, 2024, to January 17, 2024.
